This was such a wonderful story. I don’t usually read Historical books but something about this story just drew me in. I can’t say that I am familiar with the area but it still was a great story.
Reluctant Retiree
Book Blub:
Freedom or duty? Which would you choose?
Four Scots orphans flee their home of Castle Fionnaghall to escape the wicked schemes of their mad uncle….
The eldest sister, Godet Ross, believes their best chance of survival lies in her childhood betrothal to the neighbouring Laird’s son — Gordon MacDonnell.
A sudden spark ignites when their eyes meet!
Since youth, Godet has blossomed into a buxom beauty and Gordon has risen to become a burly and fearsome warrior.
Unbeknownst to Godet, however, Gordon has been promised to another: Lady Bridga MacTavish.
Fearing for their safety from their brutish uncle, Gordon allows the Ross sisters to seek refuge in his castle, much to Bridga’s chagrin.
Their uncle Mungan isn’t so easy to thwart, however. He plans to marry Godet and seize Fionnaghall for himself once and for all and he believes no one can stop him— not even Laird Gordon MacDonell.
Confined by their circumstances, the heated connection between the fiery Godet and the indomitable Gordon continues to flourish despite the chaos surrounding them.
When they are offered the help of the most unlikely of allies, will Gordon and Godet finally have any hope of being able to break free from the chains that bind them?
Shopgirl 5.0 out of 5 stars Clean Historical Romance Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2019 Verified Purchase Loved this book!! This story is about Godet and her 3 strong, warrior sisters. Hoping each sister gets her own story. I found it to be humorous, suspenseful and filled with swoon worthy men. I also liked that while Godet and Gordon (the hero) clearly have a connection, the most they share are some passionate kisses. Excellent historical romance!!
NavyWave62 TOP 1000 REVIEWER 4.0 out of 5 stars 3.50 STARS - SOME PARTS UNBELIEVABLE Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2020 Verified Purchase I read HIGHLANDER'S SCARRED ANGEL FIRST and really enjoyed it. This one had me scratching my head at times. You knew the h loved the H from the start. They venture to her home to try and reclaim it for her. The H wasn't aware she lived by the sea. Why then did she feel he only wanted her because of where her ancestral home was. Everyone knew he loved her from the start too. This didn't make sense and seemed out of character for the h. I also, couldn't understand why the H left the h in the dark who he wanted to marry? Some editing problems where names were incorrect or spelling. This is a clean story with only kisses. I loved the tension and suspense with the caves and tide and that raised my rating. So vividly written! What I dislike about this author is in probably 1/2 if not more of her stories, you have to download an extended epilogue. I DON'T LIKE THIS! Plus in this one, the extended epilogue goes to the H/h children - how many they had etc. It ruined it for me because I haven't finished all the sister's yet and the extended epilogue says who they married. No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, some romance and some spice. Granted some the the scenes were hard to believe, but some of the other's I enjoyed. (ljb) Read less
Bookworm Scholar 5.0 out of 5 stars WARRIOR WOMEN Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2020 Verified Purchase This was a great read. Godet and her sisters: Ina (the dreamy one), Cenna (the sassy one), Flori (the soft one), along with their Aunt Hextilda were a crew of fearless women. Although, they needed work in listening to the men at times and to stop rushing into things or trying to leave the men out of things. Out of all the sisters, Ina was my favorite sister. Gordon and his brother (Tristan), along with his top warriors: Liam and Loughlin were the crème de la crème of warriors. They each had chosen a woman to claim among the sisters. Then there is this little problem of: Bridga, who had been betrothed to Gordon (by her father) in lieu of a business treaty.
