Don't read this if you haven't read the prior 2 books. This wraps up a bunch of stuff and it completely overlaps the prior 2 stories.

Serena isn't looking for a man. She wants to exact revenge on the people that destroyed her family and killed her parents years ago. In order to fund her revenge, she runs a jewelry business that is just starting to gain some recognition and success. Aries is the head of the Lionheart Syndicate. He is stunned to discover that he has finally found is fated mate and she's human!

Right off the bat, you have to embrace with your whole self the idea that Serena is submissive and will just accept Aries as a dominant. Period. You have to just accept that they go from not knowing each other at all to love and devotion in an instant. Period. If you can't do that, don't read this.

Serena is the youngest Amato sister and often feels like her sisters treat her like a baby. During the course of the author doesn't really give Serena room to grow because the suggestion is that she is already strong. Aries is more of a sketch than an entire character. I was glad that his time in the military was included in his character development. The reader doesn't really see him interact with his people so there is no sense of how he leads other than he's not his father or uncle.

I felt like the author rushed one of the big conclusions of the story of the Amato sisters. Yay that they finally know who done them wrong all those years ago and everyone has paid for their crimes but it almost felt like an afterthought. I wanted the women to have their big BAM moment but instead, it was more of a reveal, reveal, reveal, and done moment. Another issue I had was that one of Aries' lieutenants really didn't like Serena at first. I wanted a moment of reckoning like her sisters got in their stories but all Serena got was the mention that the individual now likes her. Huh. Kind of lame in my opinion.

So why did I give this 4 stars if I wasn't really moved? Simply stated, I wanted the solution to the mystery of the Amato sisters and the readers get that. Period. This story takes place in Italy and the Carpathian mountains. It includes mention of and cameos by characters from prior books/other series but it's all related. I will read move from this author in the future because I have thoroughly enjoyed other books even if this one fell a little flat in my opinion.

The story is part of the Syndicate Masters: La Cosa Nostra series. The story will mainly focus on Serena Amato and Aries Borgia--the head of the Lionheart Syndicate. The story will include cameo appearances by other couples from previous stories in this series, and behind the scene appearances of those from the previous series.

The story has what we all come to know, love, and even expect within Ms. Delta James series, strong, dominant men and equally feisty females. You'll have power exchange, dominance, submission, control, and surrender. Secrets, mystery, suspense, good and evil, and shifters. I love the cat-and-mouse game between Aries and Serena--she thinks she can evade him, but she is definitely wrong.

Serena: I think it would be best if I joined my friends.
Aries: Unacceptable. This is better, I would prefer we have our disagreements in private, but be warned, if you misbehave in public, I will ensure your discipline is delivered the same way.
Serena: You can't speak to me that way.
Aries: I can and will when you're being unruly or are misbehaving.
Serena: I don't know who you think you are.
Aries: I am Aries Borgia, the Lion of Atlantis, your fated mate and the man who was born to tame you.
Serena: You can't just unilaterally decide we're in a relationship.
Aries: You'll find I can pretty much do whatever I like. The next time you raise a fist or a foot to me in anger, you won't sit down comfortably for a few days. In my lap or at my feet between my legs. Submit, Serena. You aren't to worry, Serena. Everything will be as it should be. No one will ever harm you again.

There will be secrets and surprises with the mystery and unveiling of this story. Good and evil fight for power and control. Dominant men, who love their women, aren't afraid to allow those women a say, and even listen to their input. One thing they never will allow is for them to be in danger. Yes, more comes out about the murder and mystery of the death of the Amato sister's parents.

Serena: You have things to do.
Aries: Nothing is more important to me than my fated mate. Nothing.
Serena: It's all so fast.
Aries: It is, but that is usually the way of fated mates. It will be fine, Serena. You just need to trust that. It will be fine, cara.
