Truly engrossing fast read from Ms. James. A little comical too. 😉 The Firelord is the fourth Elemental Dragon to find his true mate as Kellan, Duncan and Gideon before him. With the Firelord’s reawakening we are closer to the ending of the saga that caused their thousand-year sleep. But first Seth, the Firelord must tame his true heart and keep her from trying to kill him! Caitlyn has trained for the day when she can kill Seth, and eventually take over the realm according to legend. She’s good with a bow and arrow but is she good enough?
And then there is the reason all the Elemental Dragons have been brought out of their long sleep: the war is coming and a vampyr of old is trying to take over. Can they stop him and his league in time?
Keep in mind that this is a discipline story with lots of spanking and lots of “making up” afterward. 😳 Really steamy stuff. This was a real page-turner and I loved it. My only problem with it was that there were a few places where the shift from scene to scene was not clear whereas in others the delineation by asterisks was clear. Fix those and it is a five-star book. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book and if you like spanking discipline and its aftermath 😜you will want to read this book.

I have not been overly fond of this series, and my reviews have been on the negative side due to repetitious stories and characters (male) who are interchangeable. I was surprised that I enjoyed Seth and Caitlyn's story so much. I figured Seth would be another arrogant, domineering dragon who didn't show growth or change, but he was the best of the bunch! Yes, he was still arrogant and changed Caitlyn without her consent. And punished overly harshly at times. But he was at least willing to accept Caitlyn for who she was, and allowed her to use her strengths and talents to help him. He was also more laid back and willing to see humor when his mate was "sassy" than the other dragons. Kellan is still the worst of the bunch - his mate is dragon-born and he STILL tries to keep her away from any type of interaction that could be deemed dangerous!

I loved when the female dragons met and got together to put a halt to their husband's school-yard behavior! Also loved that Caitlyn got a few licks in on Seth at the beginning. Yes, she fell to his lust WAY too fast, but at least she made him work for her! I so enjoyed that she was able to allude him for a few days!

The battle scenes were a bit anti-climatic. Again, I thought it was stupid to make the women stay back at Gideon's stronghold instead of helping. They're dragons for Pete's sake! They would be so much more valuable in a battle than mere humans! And could have, like Caitlyn, stayed back but still had a part. Enjoyed seeing the wolves show up and form a new alliance, but wish Emma could also have played a bigger role. But this was by far the best in the series.

Once again, Ms. Delta James has penned a page-turning, action-packed, romantic suspense filled shifter tale. Whether you have read her Wayward Mates series or not, the story will read well as a stand-alone. If you did read Wayward Mates, the story takes place many years into the future; a plague has ravished the earth, things are returned to the old ways, before technology.

NOTE: This is a post-apocalyptic dark shifter romance. It contains explicit sex scenes and may seem like non-con or dubious consent—but it is the way of life among these shifters---especially when they are fated mates. It is a way of life, with a strong, dominant alpha male and an equally strong submissive female who eventually capitulates and finds the pleasure in his control and mastery over her body. Yes, it even comes with the coveted HEA ended.

The story is the fourth of the elemental dragon shifters and will be Seth, the Fire Dragon. He is also the one that was known to enjoy women frequently. When he returns to Stone Fire, he will have two women at his ready to slake his long-overdue lust. But after the first one, he will be attacked. His assassin will escape, and he must go after them, but what he finds is a shock; it isn’t a man but a woman.

“I am Seth, Lord of Fire, and who might you be? More important, why are you trying to kill me?”
“I am death,” she hissed.
“Curious name for a beautiful girl. I will teach you to threaten your dragonlord.”

The story will have a powerful chemistry between Seth and Caitlyn, and while she tried to kill him, he has great admiration for her. When she escapes, he is lost without her, but he will find her and bring her back home.

“Stay safe, my true heart, but know I am coming, and I will make you pay dearly for your latest misadventure. “

The story also brings a danger that will have the four dragons and the alpha wolves together to fight evil. It will be good versus evil, and this is the battle that decides the future. It was fun seeing all the alpha wolves, their mates, the dragons, and their mates all working together.

While Caitlyn may have wanted to kill Seth initially, she has great respect for him and he for her. He teaches her how to fly, being positive, and even agreeing to allow her to be with him in battle. Unlike the other dragons, he has waited to breed her because of the immortality issue.

“There is nothing more important to me than you. You are my lover and my mate—my beloved and my comrade. Yes, my love. We will see it through to the end—together.”

As with the other stories in this series, it contains discipline and explicit sex scenes—but there are some unique characteristics to a dragon---read it and find out! I don’t know if this will be the final story in this series, but this is the battle that everything has been leading up to, and they claim their victory.

This was the second book in the series, staring the second Dragon to awaken, Kellan and M (I can't remember how to spell her complicated name). I really liked how the story centered on women pushing back against being forced to marry and do what the men want them to do. Unfortunately, there is genetics and traditions, and Kellan has decided to teach M what it's like to be a female dragon. The other women are super strong and loved their varied ways of dealing with the upheaval of being forced to leave their home. There was an interesting bit revealed that might complicate the relationship between Kellan and M.

I really enjoyed reading this outstanding, dark dragon shifter romance & it can be read as a standalone. It has a well-paced, strong plot filled with some unexpected situations & it certainly grabbed my attention within the first few pages & kept it until the end. The characters are strong-willed individuals with unique personalities that display a determination to succeed although the female character portrays realistic defiance & tries to avoid an inevitable future. There is good support from the secondary characters.
It is about: the second male dragon shifter & Lord of the Sea (Kellan) has finally awaken from his slumber with one thought in his mind & that is to claim his mate (Miorúilt) of whom he has been dreaming about but she is not too keen about this idea.
There is: dragon shifters, friendship, fated mates, action, adventure, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, drama, tragedy, sanctuary, dreams, determination, confrontations, manipulations, defiance, threats, coercion, some dubious/non-consensual scenes, emotional turmoil, discipline, spankings, steamy scenes, contentment & a very interesting ending that is paving the way for the next book in the series. I enjoyed read this dark dragon shifter romance & would recommend it to people who enjoy reading this genre. I sincerely doubt that you would be disappointed.

Mioruilt is a young woman that has grown up working on the land she is a special sort that is absolutely full of attitude and life and she is not in anyway aware that she is actually the last female dragon until one day she finds herself quite literally in a collision course with a dragon.
Kellan is Lord Of The Seas and he has recently waken from a sleep that had been induced by a wizard, during his time sleeping he recalls that he had dreamed of a female who he had never seen before and yet he knew in his heart she was special to him.
This was a simply splendid read and I know that you will not be disappointed, it is a wonderful addition to the previous story and I am sure like me you will be left waiting for the next book.
You will be totally blown away, something that Delta James has become extremely proficient at…..

I loved this story. It is set in the world of Warlord, Overlord and Wolflord. In fact, Bridget is the widow of the former alpha of Dundalk. She decides that she wants to be treated as equal to the males of the pack. "...but I think I'm done with having males decide my fate." She leaves and goes to find somewhere for women to live free. A lot of this stems from her belief that her objections to be mated to the alpha were overlooked and she was forced to comply. She loved him, but she wanted to be able to make her own decisions as well. While travelling she meets Gideon who is a dragon. He starts the process for her to transform to a dragon without even telling her and he is not apologetic at all, in fact he is smug. There is conflict, but there is a HEA for our dragons. I will say that Delta loves to write about overbearing males. They have redeeming qualities, but they are definitely a**es. Saying that, I look forward to more stories about the dragons.

This was my first book by this author and it said it was a standalone in the same world as others so I just dove in. I do think I would have benefited reading the others for the beginning, because I was a bit lost and it started in the middle of a battle. However, I really enjoyed the story and the world building. It had some editing issues and some clunky dialogue trying to mimic a sort of Elizabethan form of speaking, but not really committing to it. I still loved the characters of Gideon& Bridget, and enjoyed their origin story. My favorite parts were about the dragons and how they became near extinct. The sex scenes were great and interesting without the same old same old. I look forward to more.

If you're looking for a light and airy paranormal romance, let me just stop you now because you're not going to find it here. Delta James' paranormal romance are on the darker side. Now, if that's what your're looking for, please, carry on. These books are not set in todays time, it is somewhere in the future after a planet changing event. Females in this future setting do not have much say in their lives. They are expected to follow orders and do as they're told and disciplined for disobeying. The discipline consists of being spanked, standing in a corner, etc. The sex scenes are plentiful and quite detailed.

This newest book by Delta James follows along with "Warlord", "Overlord" and "Wolflord". Characters from those books make brief appearances in this book, with the exception of Bridget, from "Wolflord", who is a main character in this book.

Bridget, looking to start a sanctuary for females that don't want to be claimed as mates, sneaks away to look for a lost city. Gideon, one of the last dragon shifters, awakens after a 1000 year sleep. When he catches Bridget's scent, the chase begins. When he finds Bridget, he immediately goes to her and stakes his claim. Bridget, not wanting to be mated again, sneaks out and runs. But Gideon is not going to allow his female to escape, she is his one true heart, something all male dragons yearned for. She was his to love and protect from now on, whether she wanted it or not.

If you are unable to get past my first paragraph of this review I do not recommend this book to you. Don't get this book and then leave a bad review because you didn't like the contents. For those that don't skip a beat with that first paragraph, give Delta James a try if you haven't already

This is not my first Delta James so I know what to expect and she did not disappoint. In her books, she usually has discipline in the form of the Alpha Hero spanking the strong willed heroine. This book was pretty steamy hot and I really liked the time lapse involved in the story. Until the next listen, which there will be from this author and narrator as he does a great job also.

I enjoyed the way the author switched the sex of who was the wolf and who was the vampire. And, the author was clever in having the story told during different eras, which made for a complete understanding of both the plot and the subplot.

I'm looking forward to reading more from this "series."

I really loved the story of the young girl, well woman, who is kidnapped and turned into a vampire. The sex is way overboard for my taste and after a while i just skimmed through it. Unfortunately when i do that I definitely feel that i am losing out on parts of the story, potentially. But we jump from Regency into the Future and our Vampire Heroine is now a sexy predator but still unfortunately hunted by her Vampire Sire. Like I said, lots of really good story here.

Now along comes the Hero who is a Wolf Shifter. And there's all kinds of good details set up in his back story. Unfortunately he's got that Domestic Violence versus Domestic Discipline thing going on ... Let's face it, this Author enjoys having her heroines being bruised up by their men. Flung around a room, against walls, onto floors, furniture, terrorized, bleeding, injured - its all OK because the guy loves her and she gets orgasms so what's the problem? And in this case the Heroine points out REPEATEDLY to wolfboy that there is no difference between what he is forcing on her than what her Vampire Sire forced on her. Yet he's pissed at her VS? So why is he doing the same things if not worse to her? But wolfboy is like well that doesn't matter because you are my fated mate so i can treat you however i want and you will just have to put up with it.

There's romance for you, folks.

Still, fun story. Especially the little twist at the end. 💖👍💋👻

She brings trouble to herself with her attitude, and he shows her she will not be allowed to get away with it. When trouble is on the way, heading straight for Gareth and Alaric, Ruari will not be able to go into seclusion with his mate, but instead must leave her and go to their aid. She wants to go, and he refuses—but will she listen or allow her strong-will to disobey him, knowing what the punishment will be?

I love this second book in the new series. It is amazing. I will admit that I thought that the mate for Gareth was Arielle. I laughed when I saw how wrong I was! It was Sloan who is his fated mate. Gareth, of course, is an overbearing male who will get his way no matter what. I do love these great male characters. Of course, their whole book is basically Sloan accepting that she is Gareth's fated mate with a lot of action thrown in. Just the way I like it! I hope the next book is about Ruari and Arielle. There is a HEA.

I have read all of the books following this series of Delta James's books! I am wanting more to follow and cannot wait to see what else is in store. I love how Gareth ends up besting Sloan in a way that he was still upset at her for but still showed that he cared in a way as well as understand that even though she disobeyed him. She done so to help keep her mate and pack safe accepting him as her fated mate and that she loves him and promised to return back to him.

I’m enjoying the series. And will probably purchase the paperbacks. They are well thought out and written. I found one small error where Rowan was named instead of Sloan, which brought me up short for a moment but didn’t detract from the story. Alaric is more than happy to go as he is looking for a place to settle down with his troops. On the way, he discovers that Riwan is his fated mate and that changes his plans somewhat. Of course, he tames Rowan, but the fun is the way it happens.

I highly recommend this book. I loved it and am looking forward to at least two more books in the series with Arielle and Sloan
