I would strongly encourage anyone reading the Masters of Valor series to read the Prophecy prequel, which sets up this series. It will help the reader understand the four main male characters, Gabriel Watson, Tristan Crawford, Bennet Greyson, Ford Montgomery, and the magical swords, Courechouse, Clarent, Arondight, and Caliburn. I would also say that because these books are told in chronological order, you should read them as such.

The third book will focus on two main characters, Ford Montgomery and Gillian Millhouse. She is the owner and operator of the Page and Quill B&B; Ford is a construction contractor. These two have danced all around their feelings for one another. She is sassy, a former Marine, and carrying a deep secret.

The story’s plot will have more about how Ford acquired the fine sword, Caliburn, and include scenes of how he must use it to defeat dragons. It also continues from the previous story, where a fire has damaged Gillian’s B&B, and she, along with Ford, are staying at White Falcon Manor, the home of Anne and Gabe. A big part of the story will involve the newfound relationship between Ford and Gilly and throw in a murder, dragons, and secrets.

The story has the good, the bad, and the evil in the world. Eventually, the truth about Gillian being a dragon shifter will be revealed. She has been in hiding for years, going into the Marines when her Alpha father has arranged a union with Darius. After a nightmare of her capture and the destruction she inflicted upon the enemy, she was ready to separate from the military. Still, she refused to return to the west coast and her origin clan. She wandered until she found Rackham’s Roost, met Faith Goody, and decided to settle, making a peaceful life. But that peace was destroyed by Wyvern, Richard Davenport, and Sheriff Larsen. Will Gillian need to leave and find a new safe location? What will happen when her closest friends, and now a man she has feelings for find out what she is?

I love the fast-paced, action-packed, mystery-suspense supernatural story. With each story, more details come to light. It is far from over, and what will happen when Anne learns about Gillian? Will they all blame her for an invasion of dragons? Or will they be willing to join her in fighting against them? I love the chemistry between Ford and Gillian together when they finally stop fighting their feelings and embrace them instead.

I thought this book would be a good one after how the previous book - Deception - ended. I loved this story so much. Gillian and Ford are meant to be together...even though it takes some time to get there. Unbeknownst to all Gillian's friends, she is a dragon shifter and the experience with dragons has not been good for the 4 warriors and their mates as they settle in their new community. But as most anyone knows, you cannot hide secrets such as this for too long before they are found out. By the time Ford does find out about Gillian it may be too late. This is a a very suspenseful story that began in the very first book and it grew along with the mystery. The connection between Ford and Gillian is quick to grow and a love like theirs is soon at risk. But there was a reason Ford and his friends have their swords. It was meant to be. It was a very good book. I enjoyed it a lot. I hope to here how they are doing in future books of this series (much like the author has done in previous ones) They are the best. So while you are sad to see the story end, you get updates on them in other books. Well worth reading! But I strongly recommend you read the previous books in the series first as each book builds upon the previous one. So good.

Ford Montgomery, part of the Steel Knights investigation based in Rackham’s Roost, won the sword Caliburn at an auction in London. Caliburn, the last of the four magical swords wielded by the Knights of the Round Table, has found its rightful owner in the present day.
Gillian Millhouse , a purebred drakaina, and decorated Marine, has found the perfect place to heal from her traumatic experiences at the hands of insurgents. She has found peace and comfort in building up her business, the Page and Quill B&B, in Rackham’s Roost. None of her friends know she is a dragon shifter and although very attracted to Ford, she is very concerned that he will reject her when he discovers she is a drakaina. To add to her stress, she believes that her clan of origin has discovered where she is and will force her to return to Crater Lake, Oregon to fulfill her responsibilities as a mate to the Alpha.
The ongoing mystery of the whereabouts of Blackburn’s treasure as well as the unsavoury plot behind Wyvern’s and Davenport partnership is finally resolved. A dramatic and impressive ending to the series.

'Deception' is the second book in Delta James' "Masters of Valor" series. This storyline is so enthralling it pulled me in immediately and moves so fast that I finished before I was ready. If you've been waiting for the story about Bennet Greyson, aka Ben, and the Arondight Sword, the unfading light of the lake, had once been wielded by Lancelot—yeah, the guy that cheated on his best friend with his best friend’s wife, then you're in for a real treat. He's one of the Marine Raiders who would make the pack while in the Middle East. All the swords have been found. Their team has been assembled and they've relocated to Rackham’s Roost, North Carolina to establish their businesses and keep their vow to protect the innocent. We've known that Ben has an inordinate amount of knowledge when it comes to antiques but now we find out he also has a law degree and is licensed to practice all along the Eastern Border. That comes in handy, trust me. Another fair newcomer to the area is Paige Davenport. She's the assistant manager of the local bank. Ben noticed her right off and even though her attire is rather dowdy and plain the fact that she wears open-toed stilettos peaks his imagination! Unfortunately, Paige is keeping secrets of her own from everyone in the town. At least she did until she was arrested for embezzlement of bank funds. The twists and turns in this storyline are amazing! And if you thought we were finished with Wyvern, you'd be wrong. We now have more than one dragon to contend with and a parent who is as evil as Snidely Whiplash (ok, my age is showing). It’s a remarkable storyline and I can't wait for the next one.

Ben also is into antiques and comes from a prestigious family. Paige is the assistant manager of the local bank, but she is the daughter of a powerful man. Her life will be turned upside down when she is accused of embezzlement and arrested.

Another fantastic read in this spin-off series. The storyline focuses on Ben and Paige - their journey to becoming a couple and the fake embezzlement charges she faces.

This is a fast-paced and quick read. Favorite couples Gabe & Anne, and Tristan & Goody are heavily involved in the storyline as is potential couple Ford & Gillian. It is fun to watch Anne bonding and forming a strong friendship with Goody, Paige and Gillian. These ladies are happily in love with their men and willing to be a bit naughty together sparking their Doms’ to provide some punishment.

This book picked up where the prior book left off and ends with the overall story and mystery left unsolved. The storyline will pick up in the next book focusing on Ford & Gillian.

I definitely recommend this series, but definitely start with the first book - preferably start with Masters of the Savoy. The Savoy series starts with Sage Matthew’s relation with Roark and it’s her home Anne & Gabe have purchased, and her erotic books are frequently mentioned by characters in this series.

I’m excited for the next book in this series now that we’ve had a hint at what Gillian has been keeping secret.

Once again, author Delta James gives us a story that combines elements of romance, fantasy, real history, creative history, action, adventure, and just the right amount of spice to make a perfectly delicious book. “Illusion” is the first book in the ‘Masters of Valor’ series, which is a spin-off series from the ‘Masters of the Savoy’ series. There is a prequel called “Prophecy” which sets up this series, but this book is so well written that I think you can follow everything even if you haven’t yet had the pleasure of reading the prequel.

“Illusion” begins in New York, where Cynthia ‘Goody’ Goodson is a successful pastry chef. She arrives home early one night and discovers her boyfriend in a situation that explodes everything she thought they had together. She’s still a member of a lifestyle club although she hasn’t been there in a long time because her boyfriend wasn’t into it. She calls to ask if she can book a room there for a few nights and a session with a Dominant so she can clear her mind. Sometime later, a death in the family has Goody relocating to North Carolina to settle her beloved grandmother’s estate, which includes a bakery that’s been in the family for generations.

Tristan Crawford is a renowned treasure hunter of lost ships. He happens to be at his lifestyle club in New York when asked to scene with a blindfolded submissive. They have an amazing session together, then he’s interrupted by an emergency call from a friend and abruptly leaves. He’s happily surprised to meet her again in North Carolina, and excited that the unusually perfect chemistry between them is as powerful as it was in New York City. Tristan and Goody have a second chance at love in this romance with strong paranormal elements, and they make the most of it.

This is a fast-paced, action-packed story that kept me involved from the first paragraph to the last. The main characters are compelling, and I really wanted them to get their happy ever after. Also there are BDSM elements in the book, Tristan comes across as particularly sensitive and romantic, not hard-edged. The villains are horrible, and their treachery runs deep. There are a lot of characters in the book but it never gets confusing, and as a reader you’re aware that most are characters that will be recurring in the series. As usual with books by this author, I’m very much looking forward to the next story!

A spectre appeared rising from the pool of water in the cavern with a sword called Courechouse and told them about the four magical swords Courechouse, Clarent, Caliburn, and Arondight. Tristan is the Master of the magical sword called Clarent, the Sword of Blood Peace, the sword that slew King Arthur. After leaving the Raiders, Tristan becomes a treasure hunter and eventually found Clarent in a shipwreck at the bottom of the ocean.
Cynthia Goodson aka Goody works under a celebrity chef in New York. So excited about this off shoot of the Masters of the Savoy series. A short intriguing prequel, that provides a good deal of information. It can easily be read in one sitting.

I don't think you would have to read Masters of the Savoy series to enjoy this one. But, I do think if you pass on it, you will be missing out on some pretty entertaining reading.

I enjoyed getting to revisit Gabe and Anne, while being introduced to a group on new characters in the US. 4.5 stars for this one.
