This is so true today.

I swoon over fictional men...

I’ve been a part of the bookish blogosphere for over five years and, for the most part, I love it. I’ve found it to be a positive community, one in which people from all walks of life are connected through their shared passion for books. Regardless of how much I’ve interacted with a blogger, if I comment on one of their posts, I’m almost always guaranteed to get a friendly response. Additionally, being a part of this community has seen me broaden my readerly horizons; I’ve gone from reading literally nothing but romance to reading a multitude of different genres, from fantasy to sci-fi, from historical non-fiction to true crime.

However, no community is perfect and a comment on another blogger’s post reminded me of this a few days ago. To be blunt, no matter how great a community is, it’s always going to play host to a few assholes…

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful! Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2021Another wonderful book in this series. I absolutely love how the great descriptions allow you to picture the setting in your mind. Even better are the characters created, this couple are wonderful together. Well written, yet with flaws that make them come alive for you, I’m dying to read the next one now!

After ten years in the military, dragon shifter Theo Lazaridis has a new mission: to check off the last of his father’s requirements and finally claim a vast inheritance. But plans are made to be rewritten and priorities change, especially when a fiery stranger appears, turning his world upside down.

Zoe Thomas is living an archaeologist’s dream on a sun-kissed Greek island. That is, until startling new discoveries at her excavation open a Pandora’s box of trouble — and puts her on a collision course with powerful forces straight out of Greek mythology.

Much as her stubborn pride hates to admit it, Zoe needs help to protect an ancient wonder — and to survive. The problem is, the only person up to the challenge is a tantalizing mystery man she’s been warned not to get involved with… The very man she finds impossible to resist.

I love how this Fire Maiden was an enchantress. I think this was by far my favorite. I love Greek mythology and for this book to incorporate it into this story was epic. Theo ready showed his maturity level not only to his father but the people of the small island of Anenomodolos. The east side of the island was protected by the enchantress and the west by dragons. Zoe was an archeologist who came to do a survey and once their she realizes always how much she loved Greece although this was her first time on this particular island, it was not her first time in Greece. Her adopted parents brought her family here to do participate in the reenactment Spartans wars of the old days. As it turns out she was born here and given to an owl shifter family... This is where things take a turn of a twist..they need a fire maiden and Theo needs to prove himself to his father. He doesn't want to marry or get with just anyone for his inheritance. But these two team up and anything can and will happen. You see centaurs, minotaur, satyrs coming to the rescue. Oh and lets not forget the Pegasus and Spartans themselves. I do not like to give away the stories Anna writes. Just know she's an amazing author and will never leaving you hanging unless its attentional. You will not be disappointed. GET THE BOOK!

I just loved Theo and Zoe's story. We get not only a love story but we get to meet a bunch of new kinds of shifters. I won't spoil it by telling you what they are but you might have some guesses since it is Greece after all.

Theo has come back to the island of Anemodous after ten years served in the French Foreign Legion. He left the island as a spoiled, reckless dragon youth and returned as a seasoned warrior. Unfortunately, the memories of the older shifters on the island are long and he will have to prove he has changed if he wants to win them over. His feelings on his return home are mixed. On the one hand, he is glad to be back in Greece and loves his island home, on the other hand, he has to face his father and the man's insistence that he marry if he wants to get his inheritance. He has watched many of his fellow legionnaires find their destined mates and fall in love and that what he wants for himself but he doesn't think his father is going to want to wait for that to happen. He has resigned himself to choosing one of the money-hungry women his father has lined up for him - until he sees a woman stand up to his father's posturing and then walk out on him. Wow, now that's his kind of woman. If only she wasn't a human...

Zoe has fallen in love with the island of Anemodous and wishes she could remain there forever but her job at an archaeological site is most likely a very short one. She is at the site on the empty east side of the island with only her donkey and a cat for company. She comes into the small village in the west side of the island once a week to send off a report about her findings and to check her personal email. The only thing she has really discovered is that the site and surrounding area has some kind of magic - not exactly something she can put into a report. Then she meets Theo and everything changes...

I have always enjoyed Anna Lowe's books. When she writes in a location like this, it makes me feel like I have discovered a private gem. Her stories have always stood out for me time and time again and this one is no different.

Zoe is an archeologist on a remote island in Greece. Ever since she had arrived the place seemed to have been calling home to her. Powerful people don't want her to discover anything of interest on the island, yet she feels that there is a story to be told in the ruins she is surveying.

Theo is a dragon shifter with a past. Even though the years of military service have caused him to grow up, he still needs to prove himself to the locals who only saw him as a spoiled rich brat. To earn the respect he has started to make amends, then he stumbles across Zoe who his dragon is insisting is his mate. However her bloodlines won't satisfy his father's conditions to earn his inheritance. So he must make a decision that is a hard call for any dragon shifter : Love or treasure?

Once upon a time dragon - shifter Theo Lazaridis was a spoiled little rich kid but after serving ten years in the military he returns home. Where some things are the same while others have changed. He has finally met his Father's conditions in order to gain his inheritance but dear old Dad has yet one more condition get rid of that archaeologist a woman named Zoe with a fiery disposition before she finds something to encourage land developers.
Zoe is living her dream she has returned to sunny Greece to explore and categorize ancient archaeological finds to learn of its ancient history. She is welcomed by the land, earned the trust of Anemondas not sure if spelling is correct villagers and her neighbors Zaikis and his brothers centaurs tasked with keeping the east side of the island safe.

Theo gets hit right in the solar plexis when his dragon shouts mate but can he earn Zoe's love?

Now that's what I call a well rounded story because it has a dash of this and a bit of that with a whole lot of romance. This is another edition to Ms. Lowe's repertoire that I call out of the ball park because for me it rates beyond the five star limitation.

Fire Maidens #7: Venice

Ten years ago, lion shifter Tony Pelligrini was forced to flee Venice after being framed for a murder he didn’t commit. But now, a mysterious force is drawing him back. Is it the feeling of a ticking time bomb only he can defuse? Or is it the call of destiny, promising true love?

Wetlands ecologist Cara Alari would rather stand knee-deep in mud than dress up for a fancy ball. But in the course of one crazy, carnival night, a family she loves is imperiled, and she is unwittingly drawn into a dangerous world of power, politics, and royal intrigues.

Before Cara knows it, she’s putting her black belt to use as a bodyguard — and teaming up with a hunky lion shifter straight out of her dreams. The chemistry between them is off the charts, but there’s no time for amore. Somewhere in Venice, an enemy lurks, targeting the royal shifter elite. Because carnival masks can disguise faces and evil intentions, nothing is as it seems. All Cara can be sure of is that her heart — and a young woman’s life — are at risk.

This talented author has written an outstanding, adventurous paranormal romance, it is the 7th book in the “Fire Maiden” series but it is complete & standalone. The storyline flows smoothly throughout a well-written mesmerizing plot that is filled with suspense & has good world building with excellent scene descriptions. The characters are well-developed & it was interesting to see how they continued to develop into a strong-willed loving couple while supporting each other.
It is about: after being falsely accused & forced to flee, a male lion shifter (Tony Pelligrini) finds himself, drawn back to Venice. He comes into contact with a feisty female lion shifter (Cara Alari) but the danger increases as these two individuals draw closer to each other.
There is: various kinds of shifters, shifter politics, fated mates, guardians, fire maidens, adventure, action, destiny, some humour, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, drama, deceit, betrayal, fantasies, secrets, mystery, devious plans, villainous villains, danger, threats, violence, confrontations, attacks, confusion, attractions, memories, discovery, complications, manipulations, surprises, allies, compromises, love, happiness, some steamy scenes & a well-deserved HEA with a delightful epilogue. I enjoyed reading this book and would definitely recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cara and Tony

This review is written voluntarily after both reading and listening to this wonderful book

This time it's the turn of the Lions to be the centre of attention. Cara and Tony's story is one I really enjoyed, not that I don't always enjoy Anna Lowe's work but this one was different - why you might ask? Well, it's different because Tony was forced to flee his home in Venice when he was accused and found guilty, without a trial I might add, of murder. But after ten years away his instincts have compelled him to return to Venice despite knowing that if he is recognised it could mean his death.

Whilst attending a masked event he meets Cara Alari, a beautiful ecologist who is passionate about saving Venice from further decay and destruction. But before they can act on the attraction they both feel, there's an attempt to kidnap someone close to Cara. Tony knows that he can't stand by and do nothing to stop the kidnapping but if he gets involved his identity is sure to be revealed which could mean he's sentenced to death or worse. But his honour means he must help and so both he and Cara fight together, oh I forgot to mention Cara is no dainty flower, she's tall, well built and strong. She's also good at self-defence, and together they foil the plot but as he knew he would be, Tony's recognised, arrested and taken before the Guardians.

Fortunately, Tony is recognised by someone who was there ten years ago, someone who can clear his name and restore his family's honour. After which he and Cara are asked to guard Fiorina the new Fire Maiden of Venice who turns out to be the girl they just saved from being kidnapped, she's also the daughter of the man he was accused of killing ten years ago and the girl he carried to the safety of her mother's waiting arms.

Tony and Cara are appointed as bodyguards to Fiorina but in order to keep her safe they will have to find out who ordered her father's murder and her kidnapping, are they dealing with one person or two? Are those events connected? Why is the new Firemaiden so unlike all the other Fire Maidens?

What follows is an exciting story full of drama, intrigue, chemistry and love, this is a wonderful addition to this series as destiny works it's magic again. But this time there's an even bigger surprise in store for us, but that's enough from me, no more spoilers you will just have to download this wonderful tale and find out the answers first hand.

The book Is wonderfully narrated by the super talented Kelsey Osborne who does an incredible job of bringing all of the characters to life.

I must admit I absolutely love this series. I like how Anna pulls in the next hero into her story giving us a slight preview into what may be coming.

Cara Alari has always loved Venice, and as a Wetlands Ecologist she is trying to keep the city from sinking beneath the waves. Her landlord convinces her to attend a ball during the famous Carnival within the city. When she got home from the wetlands all she wanted to do is just curl up and relax, but she get ready for this ball.

Tony Pelligrini is an ex-soldier from the French Foreign Legion, after running from false murder charges. He has felt pulled to the city, is it time for him to give in or can he clear his name.

The pair meet at the Carnival Ball, and manage to save someone who is important to the guardians. They get roped into playing bodyguard together, but can they solve the mystery before time is up, while keeping their charge safe?

I did receive a free copy of this book, but like all her books Anna Lowe has knocked this one out of the park. I doubt you will regret picking up this book.

Fire Maidens #6: Scotland

Passion, hope, and forbidden desire…

Anna Lowe did an excellent job in describing the beauty of Scotland during the characters’ journey, and the reader is able to picture every detail and scene. The couple steams up the pages. A very unique series with shifters and a storyline that every reader will enjoy for the constant action, fight scenes, and the hidden secrets that are revealed. – Ind’tale Magazine

Holly Jennings wasn’t planning on another trip to Scotland. And she certainly wasn’t planning on a trip down memory lane with the hot Highlander who broke her heart. But she’s never been much of a planner — more like a roll-with-the punches country gal. A good thing too, because “one last request” may not be the only thing a beloved mentor left her in his will. Before Holly knows it, she’s heading on a mysterious mission to a remote island — and straight into danger.

Dragon shifter Lachlan McKenney likes his life logical and organized — not turned upside down by the lithe, impulsive beauty he’s been trying to forget for years. Especially now that he’s busy guarding a ruthless archenemy who’s plotting to escape an island prison.

But Holly awakens every emotion Lachlan has been trained to resist: passion, hope, and forbidden desire. Apparently, there’s no outrunning fate, just as there’s no shirking duty. Against the odds, Lachlan must keep Holly safe on her mission to carry out a venerable old dragon’s last wishes. At the same time, he must resist temptation, because letting his focus slip could cost Holly her life — and unleash a deadly foe.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I LOVED Lachlan and Holly! Holly was nothing like what I was expecting her to be. She was refreshing and quite bohemian for a dragon. Lachlan was so uptight that he couldn’t see the forest for the trees! The death of someone near and dear to both of them is just what they needed to get them both on track. I wish that Trevor would have been in more books imparting his wisdom in some of the other Fire Maiden stories. Through his letters and requests, though, you felt as if you knew Trevor also. When I figured out who Trevor was, it made me love him that much more! There’s even a minor secondary character who isn’t as bad or irritating as I expected them to be. The appearance of other comrades of Lachlan and their Fire Maidens to embrace Holly made me very happy! I can’t wait for the next Fire Maiden story!

I love this story. Holly Jenning is the lead female character and lives in the USA when her mentor passes away on one of his visits to her home he leave her with bring his ashes back to Scotland and one last request. What's a girl to do? You can't pull that card and not do it . But she never thought she would have to make this mission with the one man that broke her heart, or that it would lead her to a remote island and danger. Is it to late to change travel plans? Lol Dragon shifter Lachlan McKenney meet his mate many years ago right as he was going into the French foreign legion . He had been raised duty came first. Not to trust in love. Beside she was better off without him. He left. There was no one else for him. At the reading of mentor's will he sees her again. Will duty win out again or Destiny? Lol got to read to find out! I love the woman who reads this, great voice. Pulls you in to the story and really keeps you involved in every page. Got the ebook too.

“Love is life. Love is the most powerful, enduring force. The most beautiful, whether that’s love for your mate, a child, or a comrade...Even in sorrow, love lives on. It supersedes time, borders, and even death. Love is the one thing you can never waste nor regret.”

Holly Jennings wasn’t planning a trip to Scotland. But when your mentor asks for ‘one last request’ in his will you do what is necessary, even if it means dealing with the hot dragon shifter that broke your heart.

This was a very good second chance, fated mates romance. Lachlan left Holly years ago because of his sense of duty to his family. Now he realizes how much he lost when he pushed her away. I really enjoyed watching grumpy and controlling Lachlan learning how to loosen up. Holly teaches him how to enjoy the world around him and that there is more to life than just duty.

Holly was a caring woman who lives her life spontaneously. She helps disabled and high risk children find their way in life. Now she is trying to fulfill the last wishes of her mentor, Trevor, which involve traveling around Scotland and visiting certain landmarks. I really liked Holly. She was just a great character with a pure soul but who could fight if she needed to.

I really enjoyed Holly and Lachlans relationship. They have a second chance and they aren’t wasting it. Overall, this was a great addition to the series and the continuation of the overarching story. I really am enjoying this fantastic world and can’t wait for the next book, which is Tony’s book. I am excited for another lion shifter story!

Another country, another fire maiden and another story filled with shifters, amazing characters and romance. This is Holly Jennings and Lachlan McKenney’s story both dragon shifters and like all the previous ones it is a story I couldn’t wait to read.

Lachlan is attending the reading of one of the Guardians will and awaiting the arrival of his ashes. The long wait for the ashes finally ends with the arrival of Holly Jennings who has brought the ashes back from the United States where he died. Holly and Lachlan have not seen each other for ten years because he left right after they had a night of amazing sex and both knew without a doubt that they were mates.

Lachlan had drummed into him all his life that love was useless and that he had a duty to his country and no place for a mate. As hard as it was to leave Holly he did his duty and joined the French Foreign Legion and when his military career was over he returned home to Scotland to join the Guardians of Scotland. Seeing Holly walk through the door took his breath away and it took all he had to keep from sweeping her off her feet. Holly felt the same but she was there for a reason and that reason was to bring her mentor Trevor’s ashes home.

She would have to go to Gleninnis presently an island forbidden for anyone to go to but she is determined and Lachlan is tasked with her safety. While both of their dragons try to get their human half to wise up and accept their mate the human halves are not quite as smart. Trevor’s instructions for placing his ashes is not simple, in fact it comes with letters to be opened at each designated spot. Holly is unaware of the fact that the island is now the prison of the mastermind of one of the most ruthless dragon clans and a threat to humans and shifters alike.

Along for the ride is Mungo, Trevor’s deerhound and Tony, a lion shifter who Lachlan has asked to help protect Holly. Holly and Lachlan love each other but their stubborness and his determination that love would keep him from his duty just get in the way and not that their other halves are not trying to make them see the light.

The journey to place Trevor’s ashes and his personal letters at each stop to Holly finally makes Lachlan look at his life but is it too little too late. Their last stop is Gleninnis and the last letter changes Holly’s life in so many ways. The prisoner knows immediately what she is when he sees her while everyone else is clueless so this last stop does not go without danger.

A must read series, well as far as I am concerned. Mystery, shifters, romance, sex, betrayal, suspense and everything I could ever want from a paranormal romance. Every book in this series can be read as a standalone but why miss out on amazing stories.

There's just something about an Anna Lowe book - I know I'm going to love it before I even crack open the virtual cover. Her characters live and breathe on the page. They're multifaceted, they're flawed... they're human (inner "animal" notwithstanding). Her stories may be Paranormal Romance, but I defy you to pigeonhole her! There's always something unique in her stories. Beloved tropes and themes are used - good vs. evil; long lost love; Fated Mates - but never quite in the way one would expect.

In "Fire Maidens: Ireland" we have a charming mix of Romance tropes here: Friends-to-Lovers, Childhood Sweethearts, Good vs. Evil, Mixed-race Romance, and Fated Mates. I would contend, however, that we also have a lesson in choosing how we use our power.

Grace could have grown up using her familial gift for her own gain - she could have looked at it as "witchcraft," and decided that it (and she) were evil - but Grace chose to use that gift in a positive way, which ultimately resulted in even more good being done. She also uses her more "mundane" gifts and talents to give back to her community, helping her neighbors.

In our daily lives, each time we choose to be kind, instead of turning a blind eye, we don't always realize the impact we have on the lives of others. One act of kindness can truly turn a person's life around. For Grace, she can see the changes in the lives of people she teaches about savings and money. That's a truly important and generous gift.

As for Finn, while he may seem more laidback, less intense than some of the other Heroes in this series, he's exactly right for Grace. He's known he's been in love with someone he may never see again for most of his life, and when he finds her, rather than demand she stay with him in Ireland, he's willing to let her go. Finn is willing to make his home wherever Grace is. His willingness and ability to acknowledge her strength, to support her in anything she decides to do, makes him one of my favorite or all Anna Lowe Heroes.

Of course, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the locale of "Fire Maidens: Ireland." The little village of Ballyfianna, Northern Ireland brought back lots of hazy memories for me. The Giant's Causeway, the castle ruins... throw in the addition of giant Elk shifters, and Irish folklore, and small-town characters, and I was in heaven.

It's always a complete pleasure to review an ARC for Ms. Lowe, and I barely wait until the next book is released!

This Fire Maidens story is a little different. For one thing, it takes place in a small Irish village and not a big city. For another, Grace and Finn met each other many years attack when they were children and Grace's family came to visit a great uncle who lived in the area. The two children bonded over an "almost" accident that they knew had to be a secret to keep parents from freaking out. Most importantly, the Guardians of Ireland are not snotty or overbearing. There is plenty of magic, but not the heart pounding feelings of doom that some of the other Fire Maidens have suffered before and after reaching their European destination.

Grace has come to the small village of Ballyfianna, Ireland because she has inherited a small cottage near the ruins of an old castle. She takes a walk around the castle grounds, remembering a day she spent there with a boy her age playing and climbing around the old ruins. When she almost took a header over a cliff, Finn saved her from falling and the two bonded over their shared relief at thwarting disaster. Grace has thought about Finn ever since that day, wondering about his life and fantasizing about the two of them together.

Finn is a dragon shifter who is the fourth of seven children. His life has led him all over the world and into many a hot zone as a member of the French Foreign Legion. The small village where he grew up and his family lives was too small for him once, but now? He has watched his friends from his Legion days meet their mates and settle down. If only he could go and find Grace, the little girl that he only met once, but has never forgotten. But right now his family needs him.

His brother-in-law is the leader of the local shifters. A giant elk shifter, Eamonn, is the head of the Irish Guardians. An alliance with Finn's dragon shifter family has always been a strong one and several of his relatives are also Guardians. Some troubles with a local wolf pack and the threat of the Lombardis have worried Eamonn enough to have him request that Finn stick around in the area for awhile.

When Finn takes a walk to the old castle ruins and sees a young woman near the edge of the cliff where a little girl once almost fell to her death he shouts to warn the woman away, and almost causes her to fall. When he looks into her angry eyes he sees..Grace.

Find out what happens when the magic of Ireland works to convince a girl from Boston that her heart is in Ireland and destiny shows a boy from Ireland that home really is where the heart is.

But the small town of Ballyfianna is not as peaceful as it used to be and Grace unwillingly becomes involved in the problem.

This was a very sweet romance. Both Grace and Finn were amazing characters with steamy chemistry. Grace is a beautiful musician who knows very little about magic and nothing about shifters. Being saved by a dragon, who is Finn, blows her mind and makes her doubt everything she knows. I really loved her unique way of feeling and using magic.Finn is a sweet and kind protective alpha male. He was just perfect and I loved the scenes with his nephews and nieces. Even though Grace is only in Ireland for a week she falls hard and fast for Finn, and he for her.

These two had a fast and sweet romance. They have to deal with annoying and hateful locals, constant interruptions from family, and enemy shifters trying to take power. This book was everything I look for in a paranormal romance.

I cannot wait for the next book to come out because I want to know Lachlan’s story!

Grace Connolly has always felt that Ireland called to her ever since she was eight years old and met Finn Hurley and in a very short time they formed a friendship that both thought about throughout the years. Now Grace has inherited a cottage in the very same little village of Ballyfianna that she met Finn, left to her by her great-great-great uncle. She knew her time at Ballyfianna was going to be short and she would be returning home to Boston, but she couldn’t help thinking of what it would be like if she met Finn again as an adult.

Visiting the castle where she and Finn first met and looking over the very cliff that Finn saved her from so many years ago she is approached by a very angry man claiming she is trespassing which nearly causes her to fall over the same cliff, but once again Finn appears to save her. So many years have gone by and yet Grace and Finn still seem to have the same connection they had as kids only she is about to learn things she could never have imagined, and she is about to find herself in the middle of shifter trouble, something she is about to learn the hard way.

If you are reading this series, then you already know about Finn since he first appeared in book four. He left Portugal determined to return after he visited with his family, but Grace put a new perspective on what he sees for his future, she is his mate and having a future without her in it is inconceivable. The Lombardis are joining forces with a wolf pack and a witch and Finn calls upon one of his brothers from the French Legion, Lachlan for help, because like it or not Grace is going to be right in the middle of the danger.

Grace gets a crash course in shifters, her family and what being with Finn, a dragon shifter could be like. She also has to accept the fact that she may be more than just a known harp player but she also has to decide where her life will be and with whom.

If you haven’t started this series I highly recommend doing so, although the books do not have to be read in order you would be missing out on some wonderful books. Each book gives you a look at who the next story will be about and a little background on them. I can’t wait for book six.

Fire Maidens 4: Portugal

For centuries, the Guardians of Lisbon have kept shifter forces in check — dragons, vampires, and witches. Now, with their powers dwindling, they’re too busy to respond to a lone woman’s cry for help.

Novice dragon, Laura Sampao, always knew her family descended from dragon shifters, but that power — or curse — hadn’t manifested itself in generations. She thought it would never happen to her.

Now, vampires are after her blood, and her last hope is a mysterious, jaded warrior who saves her from a brutal attack. But that’s just the prelude to a far greater danger, giving her no choice but to trust the infuriatingly gruff, handsome stranger who awakens all kinds of hidden desires.

Marco da Silva, heir to an ancient dragon dynasty, has been burned by damsels in distress before, and he’s determined not to get involved. But somehow, he just can’t resist. Before he knows it, he’s spiriting Laura off to his private island hideaway with his inner dragon vowing to keep her safe.

Why? Because his heart isn’t the only reckless force stirring in the shifter world — powerful enemies are on the move too, and they’ll stop at nothing to seize Laura — and take control of an entire continent.

Portugal continues a whorl wind adventure around the world for dragon maidens and their fated mates. Laura is already on the run when fate hands her Lisbon, vampires and Marco. The fact that Laura manages to come looking for help by herself and is worried about what she may or may not do is just the beginning of showing how strong and independent she is. Marco was a little rough from the start and yet managed to be dashing. Laura and Marco kept moving at a good pace through the story and there was plenty of adventure with the Guardians. It was enjoyable to see them battle through together.

Have you ever heard a strange voice in your head? your hand. Higher. Of course you have, pick then them up. Some people would say it's your conscious. But for Laura it was her inner beast. An awesome dragron. Her other half that appeared just a few weeks ago in her life at a time when she was not expecting it. But hey, life always throws us curve balls right? Yeah, yeah, she heard the rumors in her family about dragons and even remember or she think she remembers seeing her great grandma turning into a dragron as a child.

Her immediate family sent her on a journey to learn how to understand and come to grips with her new found powers which landed her in Portugal. Not even a couple days in trouble found her. Being chased by another dragron whonturns out to be a bad seed and a vampire she fears for her life. Not fully in control of her new form she takes to the skies as her dragron instructs her to be chased and caught in between the cross hair's of two feuding dragons. But is the other one friend or foe? She quickly find out the new dragon Marco is her alley and knows the one, Duarte who is after her but is his cousin. Do question is, is he really on her side?

Marco , never wanted to get involved with another woman again. He was jaded by a horrible vile she dragon. So wronged he joined the french foreign legion. But that was not the only reasons. He did not want to follow into his family's legacy and take his place and become a Guardian. By all rights he could be a Guardian of Lisbon on his paternal side or Madiers on his maternal side. He wanted to make his on destiny. But he could not leave Laurs stranded. The pull was too strong. Fate played him in a big way. This tell had is packed with betrayal, treason, jealous lovers, steamy love scenes, battle royals and fresh meat royal meat. What's not to like? You do not have the love at first sight like most people want to believe but that's what make this book so good. The characters come together. Trust me when that without me giving you all the details but just tidbits you should want to grab this book and want to find out about the grabbing the back of the necks and breathing dragon fire into the bodies and making people all hot and sealing them so that you just can have an orgasm from that alone. I don't know about you but if I can get that from that alone sign me up. You just have to read how she describes the kiss alone. Not to mention dragon foreplay in the skies...I will end here.

Ginger Cake Recipe | An Easy One.

This sounds interesting! By the way, for people in the US, set the oven for 350 degrees.

I made this cake yesterday; a recipe I hadn’t used for ages. The cake turns out very soft, a bit crumbly, and totally delicious. As you can see from the photograph here, I’m about to cut myself a (huge) slice and have it with lovely coffee.

1and 1/4 cups of spelt (or white) flour

2 tsp ground ginger

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 cup of buttermilk

1/4 cup molasses

1/4 cup olive oil

1 dsp honey

1 beaten egg

Mix all the dry ingredients together

Mix all the wet ingredients together

Mix all together until well combined

Put into a greased/lined loaf tin – I just brush with olive oil

Oven 180 degrees for 30 mins

Cool in a damp tea towel on a wire rack.

I loved this shifter story! Mina was raised in a pack that is run by an evil, Alpha Wannabe. He rules the pack with so much cruelty, torture and hate that no one knows what life exists anywhere else. Mina escapes and in her plight to reach safety is cornered by another pack, one that she soon learns is a world apart from what her people have been lead to believe. This story is her journey from fear, and the depths of evil. Is there any other life? Is the world really as evil as she has been taught to believe. This book is a great read with revelation and upheaval from her world to a world that promises a life. Thanks Melanie for creating such great characters who have a depth and personality that keeps the reader engaged. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!.

Mina is a wolf shifter from the Twisted Tail Pack who has been abused and is malnourished. This was done by her Alpha Griffin Engle because she refuses to be his mate. She escapes from his clutches and wolves from the Black Paw Pack find her and bring her to their Alpha Rafe She's so browbeaten she won't even look at Rafe. When he gets her scent, he realizes he has met his mate. He sees how scared she is and he sets out to show and prove to her how different his Pack is.

This is an awesome Wolf Shifter story. Mina comes into her own especially since she isn't abused anymore and has the love of Rafe and his Pack. Loved this story and Rafe is awesome-has such patience with Mina. There are a few surprises which made the story more fantastic. Has romance, surprises and some angst but what a story!

Great first book in what i think will be a wonderful new series by Melanie James. While not as wise cracking as her " Leigh" witch series, this has plenty if humor, intrigue, and hot sex !! There are a few controversial subjects mentioned; such as beating women into submission and killing for the sake of evil, but they are not delved into heavily, but should be noted for readers under 18 and anyone with psychological triggers. 4⭐'s !! And I can't wait to read book 2 !!

Fire Maidens 3: Rome

New Yorker Lena Castamolino has trouble. Big trouble. Every time the full moon shines, her body tries to turn into a wild beast, and she has no idea why. Her skin goes all leathery, and her shoulders begin the agonizing transformation into wings. Wings! Could it have to do with her recent move to Rome — a magical city that called to her for years? Or does the answer lie in the father who abandoned her at birth? Either way, she needs help, because all the grit and determination in the world can’t stop the moon — or the evil forces hot on her trail.

Eternal City? Eternal banishment is more like it for members of the despised Monseratti clan. But wolf shifter Sergio Monseratti has been granted one last chance to return to the city he loves, and he’s not about to blow it. “All” he has to do is bring down a ruthless mafia boss, and he can’t afford any distractions now. And he absolutely, positively cannot fall in love with the mysterious woman who could be the key to saving the city, no matter how high the passion between them builds.

Dazzling starlets, billionaire playboys, vengeful enemies, power-hungry dragons, secret heirs… It’s impossible to know who to trust, but one thing is for sure — destiny is on the move, and Rome is its stage.

Fire Maidens:Rome is book three in the Billionaires & Bodyguards series and it's a great addition! This is Sergio and Lena's story! We first met Sergio in book two, Fire Maidens:London, where he was a supporting character! I really loved him as the hero in this book!

Lena has just relocated to Rome-somewhere she has always wanted to live. She does photography primarily for tourists and bridal parties to pay the bills. Hoping to one day have her work published, she has lots of spare time to photograph the sites with her unique perspective. Things are going well until her body started doing some pretty spectacular things. None of this was going on prior to her coming to Rome. She is caught mid-shift one night by Sergio. He was there to let his wolf run free for awhile. He shifts back to a human and offers Lena his help. She understands that she is shifting, but she doesn't know why? Something with her Mom or maybe her Dad? He was not around throughout her life, so she has no clues about him. Lena doesn't know what to make of it that's for sure.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Lots of romance, suspense, and intrigue that the series is known for! Lena and Sergio have some serious chemistry!! I found the idea of Lena's awakening as a shifter a totally different and interesting angle. Most all shifters know what they are from birth so this was refreshing. The Guardians of Rome sure are an eclectic bunch they are! True to the set up of the series, each council is headed by a woman! I am especially drawn to that!

Anna does a great job by giving us the groundwork for the next book in the series! I look forward to seeing how the hero will handle the Guardians, the enemies, and of course, his Fire Maiden!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Series is just getting better

When I am having trouble to decide on a genre or book to read – to get me back in the swing of it, I turn to a group of authors that I can always trust to bring me out of a rut, and Anna Lowe is on that list. This is the third book in this series, and it’s just as good, or even better than the first two. I read this book in a day, that’s how hard it was to put down. Our Fire Maiden in this is Lena, who has no idea of the shifter world or supernaturals, but you can see some of her abilities from the beginning, even if she can’t by being able to see the true souls of people.

This a great romance, with Sergio and Lena, and seeing the major action scene is a nail biter, and when Lena shifts for the first time, I felt like I was there watching it all unfold in person. Action, discovery, love and loyalty. It’s all in these books, and I just “know’ the next book has to be about one of my favorite supporting characters from this book, Marco, and I can’t wait to read it.

This is my new favorite series, I say that whenever Anna Lowe starts to write a new one and I mean it every time! In the previous book, Liam and Gemma's story we were introduced to Sergio and I have been eagerly awaiting his story.

Sergio has a checkered past, like all his team members in the Legion it's not something he's proud of but he did what was necessary to protect his mother and it made him who he is. Because of his past and what he knows The Guardians of Rome have asked him to come back and help with what could possibly be a mafia problem. When his "mafia boss" visits a photoshoot involving his girlfriend Sergio goes along and is shocked that the photographer is the dragon shifter he met recently. As if her being a shifter isn't enough his wolf insists that she's his mate.

Lena has always dreamed of living in Rome and now she's living there but she doesn't know why on the full moon her body tries to change into a beast but what kind? At a photo shoot, she sees the man/wolf she met in the park recently.

Later Lena is shocked when Sergio comes to the room she is renting and offers to help her with what has been happening to her, can he be trusted?

I was given an ARC of this book and am voluntarily writing my review.

Fire Maidens: London brings us Lions and Liam! This was enjoyable to read for the drama of the Fire Maidens as well as the romance of Liam and Gemma.

How Gemma couldn’t fall for Liam or Liam for Gemma. They had chemistry with a push and pull against each other, Liam protecting Gemma and Gemma letting Liam while trying to figure out how to help him. Gemma was perfect when dealing with the everyone whether it be the council or Liam’s family. Liam took a leap of faith for his love for Gemma and learned more about himself then he ever expected. I loved Gemma’s dad being a little out there. But I loved even more Gareth “the butler” for Liam’s family. He was perfect, there is so much more there.

London followed Paris but was completely its own story. There were references to Tristen, Natalie & Paris, but you didn’t have to have read the story to enjoy London. Tour Europe and the Fire Maidens starting where you want!

The main attraction to this second book in the series is so amazing. Gemma is a spitfire who stands up for what she believes in. Whether is no to racism, animal cruelty , global warming. She have very strong beliefs and no one is better than the other even if you're a mighty dragon or an all mighty lionnes. Liam's is a lion shifter who's father was a dragron. The saying "she get it from her momma" comes to mind because she was a lioness and so is he. All his life he was told his father was selfish didn't care about no one but himself and dragged his mother off. Only to get them himself killed and his mate to die from sorrow. So of course he assumed dragron's weren't good except thatvwasnt true because of his good friend Tristan. He was a loyal trustworthy person and friend. When told by the Guardians of London he had to convince the lovely Gemma whom he had just met my coincidentally before the meeting. Or was it destined? To seduce her so they could control her and have their very own Fire Maiden. Well he was not keen to that so he took things into his own hands. Liam's told Gemma about shifters and at first she did not believe him. But after the one came after her she agreed for his help. She trusted him. He whisk her off to his family home in Richomond only to betrayed by his aunt. So he takes her to the last place he can think of. His ancestral home. His Castle in Wales. Gareth the caretaker explains to Liam the lies his lion relatives spoke about his father and what really happen. Then he realized all the dreams he had and memories he remembered were true. He need to protect his mate after all she is the Fair Maiden. Once they defeat one foe on to the next and boy is his mate fire. She enthralled him like she spelled him with magic. She told them Guardins what and what she wasn't gonna do and they better take head to her warning if they wanted her to be their Fair Maiden of London and go somewhere else. She was a boss. Take that great aunt Electra! Can't wait for the next book. Right? Anna Lowe in her own right is like Gemma. She puts a spell on you to keeping turning each page because you burn with the desire to know what's going to happen next. I'm telling you you're going to love this book. I know I'm digging this series so far.

This is another well-crafted story by Ms. Lowe. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Gemma and Liam. He was sweet, charming, and funny. Gemma was smart and sweet. Loved the side characters of Gareth, Sergio, and Gemma's slightly addled father. I even found Electra amusing. She was the perfect semi-villian.

The narration was well done. Ms. Osborne certainly has grown as a narrator since I first heard her.

I'm looking forward to book 3. I bet it's going to be just as lovely!
