Wolves of Willow Bend Book 14: Wolf Unleashed

With this book, we start to get more of glimpse at the Second-in-Commands for the packs. There is much for them to do, and they need all the help they can get!

Change swept through the packs of North America, leaving in its wake seven packs where once only five stood. Old enemies still lurk, past hatreds fester, and the shadow of invaders linger. The challenge of diplomacy, evaluating the old laws, and instituting the new ones falls squarely on the shoulders of the pack Seconds. It’s a whole new world, and what took so long to construct…remains vulnerable.

Luc Danes is Second, and best friend, to Brett Dalton the Alpha of Hudson River. He has his hands full training healer and alpha’s mate Colby in how to defend herself as well as hone her wolf senses. It’s not a bad life for a bachelor wolf, not really—except lately, all the eligible females have turned him down. No dates. No playing. Nothing. He’s untouchable. Turns out no one wants to lay a finger on what rumors have labeled the Alpha’s property as the third to the alpha’s pairing leaving Luc one shocked and frustrated wolf.

Just the position he wants to be in when paired with the stunning Charlie who doesn’t know him at all and is unlike any other wolf he’s known. So why can’t he even earn a second look?

Charlotte “Charlie” Miller works in the city, an urban wolf, she rarely sheds her skin for fur. As an executive handling day-to-day meetings for her alpha in New York and around the world, she knows how to handle even the most difficult of individuals. But changes in pack structures across the country require a different kind of handling, and Brett calls in his chief negotiator to back up his Second, and to give him a crash course in diplomacy.

Unfortunately, Charlie has dealt with wolves and humans just like Luc before and it doesn’t matter how sexy he is, she refuses to be impressed.

I am a reviewer, so get to read many book's in the genré paranormal, some are good, other's great, but a few fall into that special category of absolutely brilliant.
Heather Long is an Author who naturally falls into that category, whether writing paranormal or about heroes or historical romance, no matter her choice of genré they all have superb descriptive narration developed by an extremely vivid imagination.
"Wolf Unleashed" brought another distinction into the numerous level's and hierarchy within the wolf pack, that is rarely heard of but a very challenging position to be in if born with this complex diversity within their wolf.
This book helps you to see and understand how vicious both people and wolves can be to those who are a little different, plus in this storyline how gossiping can have such a negative effect upon both those being talked about and how far removed that information can be.
A beautiful example of how one is able to see past the barriers that can be detected, for their protection, while showing in reality what acceptance from other's can do to those previously crucified.
Heather Long has that uncanny ability to write intricate details of her character's personalities, while including all the information surrounding those characters within the pack that are part of this inticing novel, giving it many scenario's that give the reader's different ways to look at where this fascinating story maybe going.
I was enthralled by the quality of the emotional depth found within the characters especially our two central characters "Charlie and Luc" as they stumble to work out exactly what they mean to each other, while being battered by the interference of other's.
A terrific storyline, full of fascinating challenges and opportunities for many of those involved.
The author Heather Long will keep you totally captivated with the world she has created, as we wonder at the possible outcome.
I highly recommend anyone who enjoys paranormal activity to grab a copy of this intriguing book, and be aware it's a book very difficult to put down.

Welcome back to the Wolves of Willow Bend. Change is never easy but the only constant is change. Luc is assigned to help facilitate new treaties and his partner in this endeavor is Charlotte “Charlie” Miller. Charlie is a “special wolf” who hides in the urban jungle of New York rather than deal with a pack of wolves and her mother. She is smart and driven and will drive Luc to distraction. I really enjoyed getting to know Charlie and Luc impressed me with his patience and understanding (not something alpha wolves are known for). This story will suck you in and won’t let go till way after the last page.

I've been waiting a long time for Luc's story and this didn't disappoint. I was intrigued by Charlie and her wolf. I was pleased that she was strong, but still filled Luc's need to take care of his mate. I'm looking forward to getting to know more about the other Seconds in this new arc. I love Heather Longs wolves.

I was gifted an advanced Reader Copy from the Author and my review is completely voluntary.

Now that the legal stuff is out of the way let's talk about Wolf Unleashed and all that is Lucus Danes.

Luc was once a lone wolf now he is second to the pack Alpha and his best friend Brett Dalton. Luc and Brett don't have a traditional Alpha, second relationship so when Luc shows up at the Alphas home and announces "I can't get paid and it's all your fault" Brett just looks at him and asks "Why is it my fault"? (That was one of the funniest parts and classic Heather Long)
We meet Charlotte “Charlie” Miller she is the Hudson River Pack chief negotiator and Heads up Dalton International in New York City. Charlie is the youngest of five she has four annoying older brothers. Charlie is also hiding a secret about herself. When their Alpha has them working together Luc finds himself wanting to learn more of the sexy wolf.
With Heather Long's signature sassy, sweet and sarcastic female characters Charlie had quickly became one of my favorite from the series. If you haven't read the series yet you really should, although you don't have to I highly recommend the series.

Wolves of Willow Bend Book 13: Outlaw Wolves

Return to the world of the Wolves of Willow Bend. Join us as we take a look at how the former Lone Wolves are banding together to form a 6th pack. Can Luciana and Rayne work together and save their people?

She doesn’t seem to be anyone’s favorite wolf…

Luciana Esposito Barrows never imagined her dream of uniting the Lone Wolves and giving them a home could go so terribly awry. First, her brother rejected her, repudiating her from Seven Hills and leaving her without a powerful ally. Then the U.S. packs put her on notice, monitoring their movements, keeping them contained…then the Russians came. The last person in the world she expected to turn on her, was her own mate.

She was everything to him…

Rayne Barrows never thought of himself as much of a romantic. In his heart, he was a soldier and had always risen to the task where he was needed. Born in the heart of the Delta Crescent pack, he’d grown up alongside a future Alpha and willingly served her father as a faithful Hound. When the battles for ascension began, he couldn’t face those he loved in combat. He chose a solitary path instead. Journeying around the world, he found himself in Italy…and discovered a wolf he could love. Luciana Esposito captured his heart and he followed her—even when he didn’t believe in her cause. Now with a pack in tatters around them and their enemies closing in, Rayne faces his most brutal challenge.

To save the woman he loves and the pack they formed, he challenged her and took her position as alpha. Can their mate bond survive such a betrayal?

I've waited a long time for this story, and it was totally worth the wait.

This book opens with a visit from Julian and Dallas, the goal to have Three Rivers operate as the other packs do, through trade. Rayne is skeptical at first but has to agree with the benefits.

Now Luciana has done some pretty dumb things but she did it for love. Unfortunately Rayne took the reins from her in Alpha Challenge. Took the pack from her in what she considers the ultimate betrayal.

What she doesn't realize or even understand for that matter, is the fact that American packs are far different from the one she was raised in. So she keeps failing at least in her own eyes.

Rayne did what he had to do and has been giving her the space she says she needs. It is putting a strain on the pack and their mate bond. He loves her and now he has to win her back.

However the appearance of a Seven Hills Centurion, Rodrigo complicates matters.

A rather horrible twist of fate lands Luciana severely injured and near death. It's Rayne and the pack that keep her alive until the healer can arrive.

The healer was a pleasant surprise, as was all the visitors that come to aid the pack that needs help in a unique way. You'll love who shows up as much as I did.

All I can tell you folks, is have your tissues handy, and keep hydrated.

Plenty of tension, revelations, heart-breaking scenes, and the simmer to sizzle is worth every page. Yes, Luciana and Rayne win me over, eventually.

OUTLAW WOLVES is author Heather Long at her best. I have to admit that I was not particularly fond of Luciana in her other appearances, so for a writer to be able to take that person and turn them into someone likable, even sympathetic is rather amazing;

Luciana and her husband Rayne had gathered up lone wolves and gave them a pack, setting up in Seven Hills. This wasn't something that was easily accepted by the other pack alphas. Cool heads prevailed and the new pack was watched closely. Then Luciana made a mistake and allowed the Russian wolves free passage through her territory. That itself is a different story, but to protect her Rayne challenges her and wins. She feels betrayed though she had admitted, though only to herself, that she had missed some things a good alpha should have known about her people

Communication is usually the root of all problems and this is evidently one of those times. So a little work in that field is necessary and a bit of cleaning up a problem that arises from her brothers pack and then they will be able to work together. That's what Rayne wants after all.

Whoa. I wasn’t expecting an edge-of-your-seat read but Outlaw Wolves delivers drama and intrigue and infighting and a story of deep love, with a touch of self-loathing thrown in for good measure!

Luciana and Rayne start their story with a war raging, between the two of them. I won’t be giving away any spoilers by saying that Rayne had challenged Luciana to be alpha of Three Rivers…and she is his mate. That should give you some idea of the road these two travel!

On top of everything else that is going on between Rayne and Luciana, there is a sinister “air” in Three Rivers, one that puts Luciana right back in the crosshairs. Rayne is feeling the heat from the other Alphas in the US region and all of it kept my blood pumping thru the book.

Great to read about these wolves again. Suffice it to say that Outlaw Wolves is a bit ‘dark’ but will keep you reading, just to figure out what will happen next. It took me a while to warm up to Luciana but I did love Rayne. It was fun to visit with the rest of the wolves in Three Rivers, too. Really enjoyed the story.

USA Today and Amazon Bestselling author Anna Lowe loves putting the “hero” back into heroine and letting location ignite a passionate romance. She loves dogs, sports, and travel – and letting the later inspire her fiction. If she’s not hunched over her laptop, working on her latest story, you’ll find her hiking in the mountains or biking country roads. Either way, the day will end with a chunk of dark chocolate and a good read.

Wolves of Willow Bend Book 12: Ghost Wolf

Finally! We get to hear the story of Julian and Dallas.

Most Lone Wolves have a story—a pack they left behind, a love they lost, or worse, one they buried. Some leave their packs to roam because they crave freedom, and independence. Some leave because in their hearts, they can’t bear to stay. Some leave because they see no way to go back…

Packs attacked. Humans forced to turn. Enforcers murdered.

Julian has been juggling the conflict without a real target for months, they always seem to be just one step behind the Volchitsa and even the wolves they’ve captured can’t tell them enough. With the fate of the packs resting squarely on his shoulders, Julian, the Chief Enforcer, will swallow his pride to seek out the one wolf he knows can help them all, the one who seems to know all the players, who can think like them…if anyone can find the Volchitsa it’s the ghost he’s hunted for decades…

WOW! We have watched from afar throughout the series Chief Enforcer Julian and the complicated dance he weaves with the rogue wolf Dallas Dalton. A romance in the past had been hinted at and now we get the whole story. And what a story it is. Dallas is fire and Julian is ice but when they get together it gets really steamy. This story took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride that I have yet to recover from. This is a fantastic story and although it can be read standalone I recommend reading the rest of this fantastic series first.

I received an ARC of this book, I am reviewing of my own volition.

Oh what a tangled web! This book takes us on a journey through past and present. Written with glimpses of history woven into the lives of Julian and Dallas starting in 1971 and progressing to the present.
Now Julian has always been a bit mysterious, and no one really knows much about him outside his chief enforcer role. This book changes all that and more.

We've seen glimpses of Dallas especially where Chrystal is concerned and we've seen her with Julian on one memorable occasion. Now a truce needs to be formed and a solution found to the Volchitsa problem, for which it appears Dallas may hold the key.

The pressure is on and this book is one OMG after another. However it is the past that truly engages me. A young Dallas and an enforcer named Julian.

I expected this book to be hot in more ways than one and trust me it surpasses all expectations. There is shock and surprise as Julian and Dallas spar verbally and physically.

Truths beyond games, a trial, an Alpha Conclave and more send this book to the top of my all time favorites.

I loved this story of Julian and Dallas Dalton. Julian and Dallas hid their romance very well from everyone because if they were discovered then one or both of them would have been killed as it was against the rules of Lone Wolves and Enforcers. This was a well developed story with each characters back story. I liked the way the author gave a running commentary on their past history and where they are now. Discovering that he has a child, who is not only the Willow Bend Omega but also mated to a Hunter was a total surprise. It was nice to also catch up with Margo and the other Enforcers.
My favorite series. Looking forward to continue reading more about the Willow Bend Wolves.

Didn’t want this one to end but overall, I was a bit disappointed in the ending and the reasoning behind what all has taken place. For him to spend all that time and go at them so successfully just for him to be that foolish to end it by himself was silly. The way the last fight was going I just knew we were going to see what all the alphas could do together, so I was a little let down. The story behind what really happened with them I really enjoyed but after reading Chrystal’s story I knew what the outcome was going to be.

He took to her way better than I thought necessary from the beginning and with what happened when he she took off in China or wherever they were I knew it was more to the story. I wanted to know more about him and his connection to his pack, finding out who he was related to was good. I’m still wanting something to go down in Delta Crescent though, it seems like they have been left out of the stories. Hopefully this isn’t coming to an end because I really enjoy the reads

Wolves of Willow Bend Book 11: Thunder Wolf

Most Lone Wolves have a story—a pack they left behind, a love they lost, or worse, one they buried. Some leave their packs to roam because they crave freedom, and independence. Some leave because in their hearts, they can’t bear to stay. Some leave because they see no way to go back…

Enforcer John Nelson has pulled double duty for months, keeping an eye on the Lone Wolves who are his charges as well as those that once answered to Margo Montgomery. More of a loner than most, he doesn’t mind going months at a time without seeing another Enforcer as was his typical pattern or at least it was until the formation of the Three Rivers pack disrupted lives everywhere. Now he must divide his time between watching the upstarts and checking on his charges while working with the other Enforcers to anticipate the next move by the Russian Volchitsa. No Enforcer expected to find themselves among the hunted, but when they target the one wolf he can tolerate, John defies orders to go after her.

Hadley Sexton is a bit of a wild card even for an Enforcer, and she loves being unpredictable. More of a mother hen than she likes to admit, she keeps an eye on her Lone Wolves, and treats them more like family than charges…but when three Enforcers are brutally murdered over the course of three weeks, Hadley discovers someone has been shadowing her trail and they aren’t alone. It is a dangerous game with a brutal enemy, one willing to kill the wolves she’s sworn to protect to draw her out.

For Hadley, John will break every rule, but will he be in time?

This is the second book in the Guardians of the Wolves arc within the Wolves of Willow Bend series. It is another great read, one that I enjoyed a lot. The Russian Volchista continues to strike at the packs and now the Enforcers. They seem to operate two steps ahead of the Enforcers, striking out in a big/small pattern. Hadley, a former Willow Bend pack member and long time Enforcer, calls her lone wolves together to the Lodge for safety after several lone wolves are killed as a lure for their assigned Enforcer, who was then captured and killed. Hadley is taking no chances, especially when a storm takes out their power and she has no way of communicating with the outside world. Then the Volchista come and, in the aftermath, Hadley and her wolves flee.

John Nelson is an Enforcer with special abilities, and something is telling him Hadley is in trouble. Defying Julian's direct orders to stay in Willow Bend following a Volchista attack there, he drives three days to get to the Lodge, where he finds evidence of a battle and a quick clean-up of the scene. But he also finds a hidden message...Hadley is alive and on her way to Oregon. Which is now John's destination as well, because Hadley is his friend. And she's also his to protect.

Thunder Wolf is pretty heavy. There is a lot going on in the enforcers attempt to avoid all out war with the Russian Volchitsa. Enforcer Hadley Sexton is doing her job when she and her charges are attacked by members of the Volchitsa. One of her wolves is killed and two are seriously wounded. She is pissed off. She moves her charges to safe locations and hopes to lure the Volchitsa away from the others by using herself as bait. It works but just as she is pinning a Volchitsa to question Enforcer John Nelson comes in and kills it thinking he is saving Hadley. John and Hadley work together to discover the Volchitsa’s plans. In doing so they discover each other as well. We learn a lot more about Chief Enforcer Julian as well. This book reads like a paranormal James Bond novel with humor and love. With so much interest put on Peter I’m wondering if he was in Three Rivers and who gave him a drawer. Hopefully he ties into what’s happening seeing he just so happened to take off before the attack. Great read, just adds to the suspense of wanting to know what’s going to happen next.

Two enforcers break all the rules and break the puzzle of the Russian outcasts who have been terrorizing the packs. Ms. Long continues her brilliantly-plotted tale in amazing fashion. The Enforcers are hunted, tortured and killed. The result is to make the remaining Enforcers rabid about eradicating the marauding Russians. Hadley makes a fantastic break in tracking down the Russians. She and John take care of all of them and capture one who helps them understand the motivation behind the actions happening in the packs. Much remains to be done, but things are changing, both with the Enforcers and within the packs. Lots of action moving the plot forward makes this a riveting read. While this is actually set at Valentine's Day, it is a Masquerade so hypothetically it goes with Halloween as well. Okay so maybe not, but this is where the book fell in my re-read. *SMILE*

With the packs currently in turmoil this was a welcome reprive for everyone in the Delta Crescent pack.

A Voodoo Valentine’s Ball celebrating the mating of Christopher and Rachel Ferrar done up as only their Alpha Serafina could do. One of the guests celebrating the mating of is Lesley-Anne Saucier the pack matchmaker. Now it's not what you might think. The matchmaker only scents whether a couple is a possible mate match. It's really up to them to make the choice.

As this celebration floats around her Lesley-Anne is approached by a male. Not just any male but by his scent a possible mate for her. That is until he removes his mask.

Hugo Ferrar the brother of the groom is one of Sarina's Hounds. The last thing Lesley-Anne wants is a mate who is never around and is in constant danger.

It seems Hugo is very opinionated about matchmakers and the fact his brother had gone to one.

Hugo will have to do more than just apologize for putting his foot in his mouth if he is to claim his mate.

Sweet, snarky, fun and sizzling hot. You won't want to put this one down.

Wolves of Willow Bend Book 10: Shadow Wolf

Most Lone Wolves have a story—a pack they left behind, a love they lost, or worse, one they buried. Some leave their packs to roam because they crave freedom, and independence. Some leave because in their hearts, they can’t bear to stay. Some leave because they see no way to go back…

Most wolves will roam at some point in their lives, fledgling adults leave to explore the world while more senior wolves may undertake a journey they always wanted. Many come home again, Mitch Jackson didn’t. He thrilled to living life on the road, first as a roadie for a rock band, traveling from city to city then later as an animal trainer at a circus. He’s had a lot of jobs, and all of them fun. His years as an Enforcer hasn’t curbed his smile, but a rogue invasion of Russian wolves are enough to put a damper on anyone’s party especially when they set their sights on the packs’ more vulnerable members…

Amelia Sullivan couldn’t stay in Willow Bend, not after her sister embraced the life she’d always wanted. It aggravated her that Shiloh’s defiance earned her a free pass from their parents, parents who’d raised them all to reject the idea of going wolf. Having always put their family first, Amelia needs a breather from wolves, their politics, and their play. Taking the first excuse she can to go to a cooking school on the west coast, she flees. The last thing she expected was an order to return home within three months of her getting away. She wasn’t a wolf, she doesn’t have to obey…of course, not following the rules proves even more costly than she can imagine when she finds herself a prisoner and the change she always thought she wanted forced upon her…

Rescuing Amelia seemed a straightforward job until Mitch realizes what they’ve done, then saving her life proves to be the easier task as she undergoes her first transformation far from any alpha. Can a happy go lucky Enforcer find the strength to keep her sane?

Little Sister

This is a great read, beginning an arc within the series featuring the Enforcers, "Guardians of the Wolves". It begins with the kidnapping of one of the Willow Bend pack humans, Amelia Sullivan, whose sister Shiloh was lead in a previous book. Amelia, angry with her little sister's defiance of the rules and being rewarded for it, moved to Los Angeles to attend culinary school. She's snatched off the street only a few weeks after her arrival, tortured, starved and near death when she's found by Enforcer Mitch Jackson.
Mitch is a lone wolf groomed and recruited by Julian for the Enforcers, where he works with military precision and dedication. With help from a tracker he locates where Amelia is being held and enters the abandoned warehouse to find the bodies of humans from the various packs, and a barely alive Amelia. Injured in the battle with her guards, he takes her to his cabin in the Sierras to recover as an ice storm hits, isolating them without electricity or phone service. It doesn't take long for Mitch to realize Amelia has been given "the bite" and that away from her alpha and without a mate her chances of surviving the change are slim. There is a good chance she will go mad and he will have to put her down. But Mitch is determined to get 'little sister" through to the other side, alive and well, and back home safely to her pack. Hopefully, that's what she wants, too.

Shadow Wolf is the start of a new arc and the author refers to events and places that take place in prior books that you really should read, that being said you could probably enjoy it without having read them just not as much.
Neither Amelia nor Mitch are perfect but they are perfect for each other. Amelia is a strong young woman who comes off as a bit whiney at first. Mitch comes off as a bit condescending and work focused but as he helps her through her first change and Amelia discovers just how strong she is they discover each other as well. Their journey is one I will reread over and over again.

I absolutely LOVED Shadow Wolf. Like, seriously. ❤

I have skipped around through the series as each book has come out, mostly because I read from a short first then had to find my way to the beginning.

With that said, this book gave more than I expected. Heather wove a wonderful tale, that all of it could be considered spoilers. But, I will say I love Mitch, and I love Amelia. For everything that happens to her, she's so freaking strong. Her will to survive when most would have given up, is a breath of fresh air. I love the fact that she will put all of the men in her life, in their places without compunction. I also love that she is vulnerable. So much has happened to her, and to see her grow into her own after all the pressure she'd been under, I found myself cheering her on.

However, I would have loved to see some closure with her parents. (They are a nasty bunch) For everything that happened between them and for why she left, I think that part of the story should have been given a little more face time.

Also, I can't wait to see where this is all headed with the Russian wolves, the clues they figured out at the end, left me shocked and a little dumbfounded, but I could also understand it.

I cannot wait for Thunder Wolf to see where this is going and how everything will turn out!

This story was so sad, but also full of hope and fight. Amelia was one of my least favorite characters in the series, so it was interesting to see her side of the story. Her struggles and traumas turned her into a character full of fierce fire and life. She is so STRONG. And independent Mitch was a perfect match for her. The addition information and advancement in the overarching storyline really makes me glad I binging this series right now! If I had to WAIT for the next book, I might go mad. Lol

Her plans for art classes, yoga on the beach, maybe a cooking lesson or two while living a hippy dippy lifestyle are all she cares about…until another wolf butts into her every activity. Doesn’t he know the rules?

Lone Wolves aren’t supposed to form relationships, so why doesn’t he catch a hint? Worse, why isn’t she working harder to make sure he does?

Jake Danes is a laidback surfer dude type of guy but that isn’t all he is. He is also a skilled hunter with a past. He has been surfing the world trying to find his way back to himself. When Mimi Chase winds up on the same beach as him he is a goner. He just doesn’t know it yet.
Jake reminds me a bit of Deeks from NCIS LA blonde, goofy, with the appearance of not taking anything too seriously. I like Mimi, she is strong, talented and searching for her future. She just didn’t expect to find it in Jake.
Wolf on Board is a transition book. Leaving one arc and entering another. I look forward to seeing where Ms. Long is going to take us.

What can I say? The newest edition of the Willow Bend series was absolutely wonderful. Heather Long truly has a gift for creating such vivid worlds and those who inhabit them are all unique - you can almost feel they are real. Mimi and Jake were both amazing. You can see hints of their siblings in them, but they are definitely their own people.

I would love to go on a roam like this...feeling so carefree and like the sky is the limit. A lot happened in this little novella, but my favorite part was the easy breezy domesticity of Mimi and Jake together. Both characters are well fleshed and you even get to know Mitch the Enforcer a little bit better. I absolutely cannot wait for the next installment of this fantastic series!

Jake and Mimi have some of the best banter ever. The way Jake sneaks into Mimi's heart kept me turning the pages in one sitting. Ms. Long does a great job again with creating some amazing characters that are easy to fall in love with. She also introduces a new element to the world, and I honestly don't know how she manages to keep all the aspects of this world together and keep surprising me. I definitely enjoyed every second of this story and highly recommend it.

This is part of a series, but I think it could be read standalone, although it's a pretty awesome series and I recommend them all.

For two years Jake has been having the time of his life. Following the waves and working side jobs. But lately his brother Luc been hounding him to check in more.

Mimi asked Mason's permission to roam for a year, to get away from her mother's attempts at matchmaking. Now in California, she taking all kinds of classes to learn new things.

Jake comes across Mimi while surfing, she was doing her yoga on the beach. He was curious about the beautiful wolf and uses teasing to coerce her into going for coffee with him.

I absolutely loved Mimi's snarky comebacks. 'Evading the dog catcher 101' was a favorite and had my laughing out loud.

All is not fun and games though. While perusing a bookstore Mimi encounters a female wolf and Jake intercepts her before she loses herself to her anger. Growling among the humans is frowned upon.
Mitch, who we met briefly in Snow Wolf, is their enforcer and on hearing Mimi's report on the wolf decides Jake should stay with her, at least temporarily.

Mimi and Jake do lots of fun things as they get to know each other. I love the slow build of this relationship and the surprises that get thrown in that have me itching for more.

Mitch is the messenger that gives us a glimpse of the friendship and co-operation between Mason (Willow Bend) and Brett (Hudson River) taking these books to a whole new level!

I have read all the other books in this series and they were all good and enjoyable and satisfying to read. This book however tops them all - Heather Long has somehow managed to improve out of sight in certain areas. I am trying to figure out why the story telling was so much better. The character development was superb. The suspense was beautifully balanced with the romance and the dialogue was very satisfying.
My eyes glaze over with bad language and excessive sex and fortunately there was not a lot of either. The male characters were well written and believable. The action and forward momentum have kicked up but the mysteries of her world have become so intriguing and well presented that we are in effect left with a cliffhanger in the very best sense and the reader is left wondering what the Russians will do next.
The care the author took in the writing of this novel made me wonder if she has a new editor because the quality of her world building and character dialogue is just so much better than the previous books.
Certainly whoever edited for typos missed the point that when you put someone through the wringer it's about washing clothes not a bell tower. And I did raise my eyebrows about finding 'out' mate rather than finding our mate and there were a couple more sentences that didn't make sense so whoever did the final proofreading wasn't that good - it is really important to get fresh eyes for that because after the first 50,000 words any author just reads what they thought they wrote, not what is actually there.
This book raises the whole series to a higher level and it was a joy to read such a disciplined tour de force - a great story - and well told.

Heather Long hit my favorite authors list with her Fevered and Marine series and has maintained it with this series. I've read them all and am always excited to see a new release. This one doesn't disappoint. If you are looking for a great standalone with an HEA, then look no further.

When WB Pack Hunter Ranae Buckley is sent to the Yukon Pack with the head Enforcer, her mission is to deliver a message to the old curmudgeon alpha who won't answer calls. Once at his camp, she finds nothing is what she was led to believe. It seems Diesel is a trickster, and a very wily one. But even worse he says she is his mate and that she won't be returning to Willow Bend.

Diesel is a wolf who outlived his first mate. He was approaching the fade himself when he visited WB and thought he smelled a potential mate. But the one he thought was his actually was fated for someone else. Back in the Yukon, he has found new purpose, especially when a young WB Hunter arrives in his town delivering news of attacks on other packs by Russian wolves. And Diesel begins to understand why he was wrong about a potential mate before, and how close he came to finding Ranae then. Knowing she's the one is only part of the equation, though. This old wolf will have to learn some new tricks to convince Ranae her home is with him when her allegiance to WB is so strong. But to complicate his mission to win her over, the rogue Russian wolves strike against Diesel's most vulnerable, Inuit and wolf alike.

Snow Wolf by Heather Long is the ninth book in her Wolves of Willow Bend Series. This series is truly captivating with an incredible story-line and compelling characters.

I was a little worried about Snow Wolf in the beginning. The Alpha of the Yukon pack and oldest Alpha around, Diesel, intimidated me a bit from the glimpses we were given of him in prior books. My concern laid in the feeling that he was going to be too dark, isolated and raw for me to have respect for this character. I could not have been more wrong. Peeling back the layers of this character and pack revealed an amazing pack and one absolutely incredible Alpha. *swoon* I might have been expecting King Alpha-hole/mentally unstable, but I was delivered a Valiant Knight. I kind of want to go re-read it, just writing this review. His sly humor and pursuit of Ranae Buckley, was only the beginning of what made this read fantastic.

The backstory in this series is growing immensely as we continue to follow threads into new parts of the shifter world in an attempt to discover who is harming the shifters. As the author takes us on this journey, she feeds us bread crumbs of back-stories from those we know little about.....yet. Or, at least I HOPE we continue to learn more about some of the more mysterious characters!

If you are a fan of paranormal romance, you do NOT want to miss this series and Snow Wolf was not an exception to the overall greatness contained in this series.

Woo hoo! What a ride! Diesel, the oldest Alpha in the U.S. packs, is about to have his world shaken up by Ranae Buckley a young hunter/envoy from the Willow Bend pack. Ranae is about to have her perception of the Yukon pack shook up. When these two meet worlds collide. I was worried that Diesel would be too old and set in his ways to fully appreciate Ranae. But I should have known better. Ranae would take delight in bringing Diesel kicking and screaming back to life. I love Diesels sense of humor and the fact that Ranae doesn’t just roll over for him. The are some surprising revelations about the enforcer Julian and I hope we get his story soon. I love this world and the folks who live in it. Well done Heather Long.

Wolves of Willow Bend Book 8: Desert Wolf

Cassius, Alpha of Sutter Butte, leads the most ruthless and dangerous pack in the United States. A pack comprised of misfits who didn’t fit in their previous packs, cast offs discarded by their packs and forgotten wolves who rose to create a pack more than a century before in utter defiance of the order of the day. Sometimes pitiless and cruel, he wants more for his people than a yearly bloodbath as they fight for a new place, a better spot in the pecking order. To change his pack, means to change himself and he will find rebellion on all sides, not the least of which is his own defiant heart.

Sovvan Stark, Omega of Delta Crescent, lives a cherished, beloved life in the center of her pack, a delicate and hard won balance. Though she is not the only Omega, she is the most experienced with the tremors of pack upset when power shifts from Alpha to Alpha. When her Alpha approaches her about Sutter Butte’s request, Sovvan considers the matter for several long months. While she might hold within her the key to helping the Sutter Butte Alpha, the undertaking could very well kill her.

Accompanied by a single Hound, Sovvan begins a journey to help Cassius rebuild the foundation of his pack, but first she will have to transform him…

Cassius, Alpha of Sutter Butte, is snarly and mean and rough and tuff and buff and stuff but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t feel, doesn’t want, doesn’t hope. What he wants is to take his pack into a less violent less fearful future. To do that he needs help; Sovvan Stark, Omega of Delta Crescent is the help Cassius feels it will take. He doesn’t expect who she is and what she does to him personally but isn’t crazy enough to look fate in the mouth. He just doesn’t know if he is going to live long enough to enjoy her. Sovvan is an Omega. A special type of wolf. She isn’t immediately cowed by any Alpha and so stands outside pack structure. Her gift is reflection. She can reflect your weakness back at you. She can discover a packs weakness. She can also it seems borrow your fear, anger, grief or intense emotion and use it. She responded to Cassius’s need to improve the lot of his pack she didn’t expect to fall for him.
Heather Long is a fantastic story teller and this may be her best story yet. Desert Wolf can be read standalone but will be better enjoyed if you’ve read the rest of the series. I loved everything about Sovvan except for her name (for which I had to use a dofer cause I couldn’t figure out how to pronounce it) and Cassius turned out to be deeper than he’s let anyone know. This book will leave you feeling good and hopeful for the future of the Sutter Butte pack.

Heather Long writes the absolute best romantic shifter suspense, books that grab hold on the first page and don't let go until the last. This book is that and more. She captured my attention with her Fevered series and has maintained it, leaving me watching expectantly for her next release. Her characters are richly developed, the storyline contains enough suspense to keep me glued to my reader and the romance builds until there is no question the featured couple will beat the odds and that there is going to be a HEA-the reason I read romance. I love it!
Cassius, the hard, fierce Alpha of the Sutter Butte Pack in Arizona has asked Serafina for the loan of one of her Omegas. Sovvan is not only the Louisiana based Delta Crescent's Omega, however, but is also Serafina's trusted friend. And Sera doesn't want her to go. But after months of consideration, Sovvan and her Guardian make the journey, only to be intercepted at a roadside rest stop by a large group of wolves who try to kill her. Cassius arrives in time to save her life, but the battle gives Sovvan a glimpse into the extent of the brokenness of the pack that he desperately wants to save. And she ultimately comes to the realization that by helping him save them, her own life will likely be forfeit. Cassius always knew Sovvan could die, but while it was a likelihood when he first came up with the plan, as he gets to know Sovvan more intimately he realizes the only acceptable option is for her to live.

Desert Wolf by Heather Long is the 8th book in the Wolves of Willow Bend series. Desert Wolf follows the Sutter Butte pack and their razor sharp alpha, Cassius.

This series has become my addiction for 2015. I love the characters in this series, especially the way Long is blending some of the different pack’s members together. Each installment contains such wonderful character growth and Cassius’ story was no exception. But lets face it, if you have read this series, you recognized he was going to be a hard character to connect to. Long did a great job building him up as ruthless, hard-edged and cruel. Even I wondered if Cassius had the ability to be redeemed, but as usual Long works her magic and once she allows you to glimpse inside of Cassius’ soul, you are quickly jumping onto Team Cassius. This team doesn’t play fair and I enjoyed the struggle and torture the author put this Alpha through. Long provided us with glimpses and a general feel of Cassius’ backstory and childhood, but I felt for such a unique and hard character, stronger details would have enriched the story and pushed this over the edge to 5 star territory.

Heather you've got me so addicted to this wonderful series!
Cassius asked Delta Crescent Alpha for the loan of her Omega, Sovvan to help him clean up his pack but little did he know that she was his mate. He treated her with such disregard you couldn't tell that they were mates. When they finally came together it was explosive you could almost feel the heat coming off of them. Even though Omegas are feared because of the emotions they can bring out in the others, Cassius and Sovvan came together to become and effective team for their pack. Just loved the way the two of them were with each other. I heartily recommend this story and the series to anyone wanting to read exciting wonderful stories.

One whiff of her scent and he stalked her through the airport. In no time at all he knew she was meant for him and it was just a matter of convincing her. He took a great path doing that by treating her with respect, caring, love and protection. And she loved it! And him! What a joyful read with a happy ending.

I love the Wolves of Willow Bend. They captured my heart with the first book and each book gets better and better.

What do you get when you take a Willow Bend Wolf and a Seven Hills Centurion?

You get a steamy hot romance filled with laughter and fun.

Murphy DeWitt is returning to Willow Bend after two years of traveling the globe as a diplomatic interpreter. She is looking forward to being home except for one little thing. She told her mother she had a wolf boyfriend to get her to stop pushing on the whole marriage/mating thing. Not that she is against it, after all she was going to be a bridesmaid in her friend Shiloh's wedding in a couple of days.

Giovanni is traveling to Willow Bend in advance of his Alpha Salvatore and his mate Margo to ensure security for them as they attend her brother Matt's wedding. When he smells a female wolf at the airport when he passes through security, he is intrigued and manages to place himself in her way.
Murphy literally runs into Giovanni, and thus begins an interesting relationship.

With their flight fortuitously delayed, he convinces Murphy to join him for a meal. However it is a lot more than just a meal he has in mind. In his dominant wolf way he changes her flight to first class, orders up the meal and arranges a shower for her at the First Class Lounge Spa. A shower she and her wolf decide to let him share, but not before she determines it has nothing to do with politics or their packs. Talk about a hot, steamy shower, this one raises the heat to a whole new level.

During their flight Giovanni also books a hotel and rents a car for the two of them to travel from Chicago to Willow Bend. Protective much?

The interactions between Mason and Murphy are hysterical, as are the reactions of all the key players.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable read, no angst, no drama, just pure sexy fun!
