With this book, we start to get more of glimpse at the Second-in-Commands for the packs. There is much for them to do, and they need all the help they can get!
Change swept through the packs of North America, leaving in its wake seven packs where once only five stood. Old enemies still lurk, past hatreds fester, and the shadow of invaders linger. The challenge of diplomacy, evaluating the old laws, and instituting the new ones falls squarely on the shoulders of the pack Seconds. It’s a whole new world, and what took so long to construct…remains vulnerable.
Luc Danes is Second, and best friend, to Brett Dalton the Alpha of Hudson River. He has his hands full training healer and alpha’s mate Colby in how to defend herself as well as hone her wolf senses. It’s not a bad life for a bachelor wolf, not really—except lately, all the eligible females have turned him down. No dates. No playing. Nothing. He’s untouchable. Turns out no one wants to lay a finger on what rumors have labeled the Alpha’s property as the third to the alpha’s pairing leaving Luc one shocked and frustrated wolf.
Just the position he wants to be in when paired with the stunning Charlie who doesn’t know him at all and is unlike any other wolf he’s known. So why can’t he even earn a second look?
Charlotte “Charlie” Miller works in the city, an urban wolf, she rarely sheds her skin for fur. As an executive handling day-to-day meetings for her alpha in New York and around the world, she knows how to handle even the most difficult of individuals. But changes in pack structures across the country require a different kind of handling, and Brett calls in his chief negotiator to back up his Second, and to give him a crash course in diplomacy.
Unfortunately, Charlie has dealt with wolves and humans just like Luc before and it doesn’t matter how sexy he is, she refuses to be impressed.
Michelle Chantler 5.0 out of 5 stars To be different is a huge bonus. Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2019 Verified Purchase I am a reviewer, so get to read many book's in the genré paranormal, some are good, other's great, but a few fall into that special category of absolutely brilliant. Heather Long is an Author who naturally falls into that category, whether writing paranormal or about heroes or historical romance, no matter her choice of genré they all have superb descriptive narration developed by an extremely vivid imagination. "Wolf Unleashed" brought another distinction into the numerous level's and hierarchy within the wolf pack, that is rarely heard of but a very challenging position to be in if born with this complex diversity within their wolf. This book helps you to see and understand how vicious both people and wolves can be to those who are a little different, plus in this storyline how gossiping can have such a negative effect upon both those being talked about and how far removed that information can be. A beautiful example of how one is able to see past the barriers that can be detected, for their protection, while showing in reality what acceptance from other's can do to those previously crucified. Heather Long has that uncanny ability to write intricate details of her character's personalities, while including all the information surrounding those characters within the pack that are part of this inticing novel, giving it many scenario's that give the reader's different ways to look at where this fascinating story maybe going. I was enthralled by the quality of the emotional depth found within the characters especially our two central characters "Charlie and Luc" as they stumble to work out exactly what they mean to each other, while being battered by the interference of other's. A terrific storyline, full of fascinating challenges and opportunities for many of those involved. The author Heather Long will keep you totally captivated with the world she has created, as we wonder at the possible outcome. I highly recommend anyone who enjoys paranormal activity to grab a copy of this intriguing book, and be aware it's a book very difficult to put down.
D. Antonio 5.0 out of 5 stars This story will suck you in and won’t let go till way after the last page. Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2019 Verified Purchase Welcome back to the Wolves of Willow Bend. Change is never easy but the only constant is change. Luc is assigned to help facilitate new treaties and his partner in this endeavor is Charlotte “Charlie” Miller. Charlie is a “special wolf” who hides in the urban jungle of New York rather than deal with a pack of wolves and her mother. She is smart and driven and will drive Luc to distraction. I really enjoyed getting to know Charlie and Luc impressed me with his patience and understanding (not something alpha wolves are known for). This story will suck you in and won’t let go till way after the last page.
R. Mitchell 5.0 out of 5 stars Been waiting for this Reviewed in the United States on December 25, 2019 Verified Purchase I've been waiting a long time for Luc's story and this didn't disappoint. I was intrigued by Charlie and her wolf. I was pleased that she was strong, but still filled Luc's need to take care of his mate. I'm looking forward to getting to know more about the other Seconds in this new arc. I love Heather Longs wolves.
Stacy Gragg 5.0 out of 5 stars Lucus Danes finally gets his mate! Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2019 I was gifted an advanced Reader Copy from the Author and my review is completely voluntary. Now that the legal stuff is out of the way let's talk about Wolf Unleashed and all that is Lucus Danes. Luc was once a lone wolf now he is second to the pack Alpha and his best friend Brett Dalton. Luc and Brett don't have a traditional Alpha, second relationship so when Luc shows up at the Alphas home and announces "I can't get paid and it's all your fault" Brett just looks at him and asks "Why is it my fault"? (That was one of the funniest parts and classic Heather Long) We meet Charlotte “Charlie” Miller she is the Hudson River Pack chief negotiator and Heads up Dalton International in New York City. Charlie is the youngest of five she has four annoying older brothers. Charlie is also hiding a secret about herself. When their Alpha has them working together Luc finds himself wanting to learn more of the sexy wolf. With Heather Long's signature sassy, sweet and sarcastic female characters Charlie had quickly became one of my favorite from the series. If you haven't read the series yet you really should, although you don't have to I highly recommend the series.
