Peregrine: A Forbidden Desires Spin-Off Story

1508
Sebastian Drake, stoic protector of the Drake family, always gets what he wants—and there is nothing he wants more than the half-starved Pedigree omega named Peregrine he comes across on his travels. It doesn’t matter that Peregrine is a Disgrace. Sebastian will do whatever it takes to keep him… and somehow, as impossible as it might be, find a way to be his mate.

Present Day
For hundreds of years, Peregrine has enjoyed life as Sebastian’s mate. Sure, as one of the only bonded omegas in recent history he’s been kidnapped more times than he can count, but with Sebastian there to save him it’s little more than an inconvenience. And attacks from hostile clans? That’s just a typical Tuesday.

But there is one thing Peregrine fears, yet desperately wants.

One thing that has hurt him time and time again.

One thing Sebastian can’t save him from.

And now it’s happening again.

He’s pregnant.

“To anyone who thinks their story is over. Darling, don’t give up. It’s only just begun.”

I was extremely excited waiting for this story. Perry has been one of my favorite characters since Clutch and Nate and Alistair. When I saw this dedication, I knew it would be worth it. If you are a fan of this series, you know there had to be hidden depths to Sebastian; he is more than just a big brute of a dragon. Perry is delicate, lovely, an almost perfect example of a dragonet, but he and Seb have been through a lot. Now we get to find out exactly what is in the past and how it all ties together. I had my suspicions from interactions among the omegas and comments made about the past and here we have it.

“We hoard the things we consider treasure, Perry. Be they art or gold or the ones we love. This is the way of the dragon.”

Kill me dead. I am slain. These authors have done me in. I think this one is my favorite so far. We knew Seb wasn’t just a big muscle bound bouncer type (I mean, duh, Perry) but he is definitely all soft squishy marshmallow when it comes to his mate. He is also smart enough to put puzzle pieces together that only Misha seems to have been able to solve. One of the Drake brothers has A LOT to answer for and I am very curious to see how this is all tied up in the last book. Perry and Seb carry so much secret pain and I love how it is all brought to light and made whole again in this book. As Harrison states in the epilogue, Perry really is the glue that holds all of the Drakes together and it is wonderful to see the love and family all at work. Absolutely loved this book. I got sucked in and read it in one sitting. Couldn’t help it!

When an author writes the origin story of a side character you've come to love through previous books, there's always a bit of fear that it won't live up to expectations you've created in your own mind. I shouldn't have worried.

Authors Scott and Kelly have penned a story more beautiful than I ever imagined. Perry's story is told in heartbreaking as well as heartwarming flashbacks interwoven with present day danger and intrigue. Prepare yourself for a rollercoaster of emotions. I'm still overwhelmed and a bit teary with it all, but there's nothing I would change. From beginning to end Peregrine was perfection. And Sebastian...my God, Sebastian. If ever a more swoon worthy hero was written, I couldn't name him.

Next up is Raven. I am simultaneously wishing for and dreading this book. With it, all my questions will be answered, but when the last page is read, my adventures with the Drake family will be over, and that will be a very sad day indeed

I fell in love with this series and characters so when I saw 'Peregrine' out, I was beyond thrilled. Perry has featured early on with his large clutch of eight eggs. Those hatchlings are now eight years old, full of fun, noise, and keeping their parents busy.

We learn how Sebastian and Peregrine met, a completely odd chance, where Seb trusts his dragon half and instinctively knows that this poorly clothed half starved omega is his. Who cares about disgraced status, what his brother thinks, or this so called planned trip. This omega is his. No questions. That's his stand from the start and in the centuries they've been together, he's never wavered.

The story travels back 500 years and forward and back and forth and for me I was tired of the time jumps. I'm not sure if having two sections to the story instead of these chapter jumps would work better. Maybe I'll eventually go back and read those chapters, but for what I wanted out of the story, I was firmly in the present.

Perry has had two successful clutches and centuries of many that never made it. Losing one in miscarriage or stillborn is bad enough, but one hundred? I can't imagine. And now another pregnancy and it's tears instead of happiness. Dread. Knowing the odds are against them yet Seb and Perry hang onto each other, supportive, protective, loving, and hoping. Thank goodness for advanced medical care and Harrison (along with Steve) knowing what to do, even if it's tentative. As for nit picks I wanted to know if Everard had enough magic to assist Perry, because nothing is said about it. Or if Everard is okay. Why wasn't there a talk between Seb and Everard about the Raven/Bertram incident? There's too much left unsaid which had a huge impact on this story. And that includes Bertram's disrespectful creepiness when alone with Perry. Three stars for the reasons I stated. - Dan's Wife

And now we know why Everard has no pet names for Perry!

I absolutely adored every single word of this book, there wasn't a thing I would have chosen to be different and not a jot of the feels I would have given up.

Throughout this series Peregrine has been there, the glue at the centre of the Drake brothers' expanded family, the mate who has been there for half a millennia.

And his is such a wonderful story, from the moment Sebastian sets eyes on him trying to roll a barrel of herring to the whispered words of love at the end, theirs is a romance for the ages.

They support each other without fail, they love each other without conditions and they're honest and open in their feelings.

As this is a story about a bunch of dragons, you can bet there's the usual mayhem and chaos when whelps, dragonets and other offspring gather.

But there's also a thread of deep pain, of loss so powerful it changes your very soul, and we find out that what we feared might be the case for Perry's melancholy is true.

The authors weave this into a story which twists between the present day and the 16th Century and which travels the Medieval world and the modern one alike.

We find out secrets which go a long way to explaining some of what's been going on in the other books, but not all.

That will come in January (arghhhhh!) when we finally get Raven's story and the final Drake brother Bertram is going to have a lot of explaining to do!

Magpie: A Forbidden Desires Spin-Off Story

Reynard Drake, solitary cybersecurity expert and curator of the Drake family fortune, would rather be chucked in the midden than forced to bed an omega, but as the selected Amethyst candidate for the mating experiment, he has no other choice. Resigned to his unhappy fate, he takes solace in the fact that one thing will never change—his virtual rival, Magpie, will always be there to keep him on his toes, even if he has been strangely absent from the internet lately…

Gah! I absolutely adored Misha and Reynard’s story! Misha was so sassy, and such a spitfire I loved it! He was confident in what he wanted, how he was going to get it and just went after it full steam ahead! He knew he wanted Reynard to be his dragon, his mate - his forever. Reynard was totally content with giving Misha whatever he wanted and I loved that so hard. He was just as determined to see Misha as his mate and they were literal #BondGoals. I was so there for Misha’s dominating presence in the bedroom. There was so much excitement in their story it kept me wondering how it was as going to all unfold! What I didn’t expect was reaching for a tissue as we got to see the softer side of Everard in the birthing of Misha’s whelps. Everard now holds a special place within the Forbidden Desires series for me. This was an amazing addition to the series, I hope it never ends!

Another great addition to the series. Magpie is the alias of an omega that breaks into dragon hoards and steals income for himself. He has been playing a game of wits with dragon named Reynaud and has come to admire him. When a new program is Instituted to match up omega and dragons along an experiment to improve fertility, he manipulates it so he is sent in place of the omega originally meant for Reynaud. Mischa is sassy, take charge and demanding which works out since Reynaud is a closet submissive. There is a lot of family drama from both sides, danger from terrorists, health concerns, an egg abduction with rescue and a deep and wonderful love between our couple and their eleven new baby dragons. The only concern i have is the introduction of Misha's father making threats and then it just goes away. With only that comment, I loved the book and am looking for more about this family, especially Bertram.

I fell in love with the Forbidden Desires dragons in the first book and every subsequent book has added to the world-building and gave life to the characters.

Misha and Reynard are perfectly suited for each other. My only quibble is a bit more backstory would have helped to explain some of Misha’s motivation.

I think we also got the setup for Bertram to get his own book. Let’s hope so! All the previous books have been wonderful in audio, as well as print, and I’ll be watching for Magpie in audio.

Highly recommended.

I didn’t understand where the Diamond’s interest in, and concern for Mischa was coming from. Mischa clearly didn’t have a good relationship with his father, so why did they care if he was matched to a Gold, or an Amethyst? Why, after he was solidly mated, and delivered a clutch, did his father care about his ‘value’ being lessened? And how could a clutch of 11 be anything to be ashamed of? And finally, why did we hear nothing more from them, as if that whole plot line was simply abandoned?

I certainly hope that Bertram’s book is next, because there were a whole load of unanswered questions with him and his serendipitous rescue.

Having said all that I wasn’t happy with, I think that I loved Mischa and Raymond the best. I liked that they didn’t balk at seeking for what they needed, and not just conforming to what their stereotypical roles should be.

Finch: A Forbidden Desires Spin-Off Story

Hugh Drake, the most whimsical member of the Drake family, wants a clutch badly… and despite his sanctioned period to reproduce nearing its end, he just might get his wish. New information has emerged that suggests Disgraces are dragons and able to bear eggs. All that’s left to do is find one Hugh can tolerate, and who better to help him find his perfect match than his steadfast and faithful secretary, Finch?

If only Finch were a Disgrace, but alas. Some things simply aren’t meant to be.

Sensible and straightforward Finch has served as Hugh Drake’s secretary for over a decade, and secretly loved him for just as long. Hugh is the light of his life, but he’s also entirely too gullible, which is why Finch refuses to believe his claim that Disgraces are dragons. They’re not. Finch would know, since he is one. But that little fact will have to stay a secret, because Finch would rather his love go unnoticed than be the one who breaks his dragon’s heart when he fails to produce a clutch.

Well, that's Hugh Drake, a big loveable guy who can go a little bit off the rails. In his own inimitable fashion, he has fallen hard for his secretary, Finch, but doesn't believe they can be together, so he concocts a very Hugh-like way to keep Finch. This story is alternately sweet, hilarious, angsty and wonderful. As with all the books in this series, it is well written and the side characters are just as interesting as the main characters. You don't have to read the other books to love this one, but it is so much better when you are acquainted with the characters from other books making cameos in this one. It is well worth your time!

Hugh & Finch are hilariously dopey & yet absolutely teeth-rottingly adorable together. Their crazy antics (and those of the rest of the Drake family, in all of their absolutely insane glory - I swear every time Harry & Steve show up I just start laughing as a reflex at this point, and DEAR CHRISTMAS Alistair & Iggy in this book are just absurd, and it's beautiful) are just amazing - I laughed so hard that my poor cat was seriously concerned about my well-being. Please please please write more of these books - heck, you could write 1000 books about these crazies & I'd read every one of them. Seriously, these books are amazing - if they seem even vaguely interesting, they're 100% worth a try, because they are seriously some of the best of the genre.

I finished the whole series (a total of 6 books each), and what a fun read! I’m glad that amongst the 6 books, this has the least amount of angst😉.

A different Drake, with a different mate in each book, with their children.

Our main MCs, Hugh Drake and Finch (who has a secret), no spoilers here. They are both a great couple, but mostly Hugh!

I just have a wish that hopefully that there’s another spin off coming in the name of: BERTRAM! Please authors, write a story about him, please😉...

This is a great addition to the series. In this story we have Finch, dutiful, ultra competent secretary to Hugh Drake, lovable, clueless and desperate to be a father. In his search to find an omega mate to give him his own clutch of dragon eggs, he engages Finch's help to organize a great ball inviting all eligible omegas. Through a fortunate mistake, he discovers that Finch is that perfect mate and through Finch's heat he believes he will have those precious eggs. However when Finch learns he is not carrying eggs, he runs away rather than disappoint Hugh. We have high drama, an extended family, lots of love and a most satisfying HEA.

Clutch (Forbidden Desires Book 1)

Bookish, snarky, and fiercely independent Nate Boudreaux leads a solitary life. Between teaching classes at the university and working toward his PhD, he doesn’t need a partner to occupy his time, and he certainly doesn’t need a man like Alistair Drake complicating his future.

Alistair Drake, black sheep of the tremendously wealthy Drake family, is more interested in adding another notch to his bedpost than another zero to his bank account. When a Grindr message brings him to Nate’s doorstep, then straight to his bed, he has no reason to believe that what they share will be more than a simple hookup, until, three months later, a tug on his soul informs him otherwise.

For the Drake family has a secret—one that will force Nate and Alistair together as much as it will demand that they be torn apart. One that Alistair and his brothers have carried all their lives… and one that Alistair and Nate’s future children will carry, too.

Bound to each other by three precious impossibilities, Nate and Alistair have no choice—no matter the consequence, they must fight for their forbidden clutch.

This is a M/M Omegaverse series. Enjoyable and funny. The Alphas are all Dragon Shifters, the Omegas are all human, or are they? The interaction between Alpha and Omega will stick with you! Try not to laugh out loud, I Dare You!

Clutch is the first book in the Forbidden Desires series, and an amazing way to start a new series. The series is set within a world very similar to our contemporary world, however, within this universe there are alphas, betas, and omegas as well as a hidden dragon population.

The hidden dragon society have their own laws and social norms, and one of those rules is to not get a random omega pregnant without the approval of the dragon council. Alistair breaks that rule when he hooks up with Nate, aka Iggy, after matching on a dating app. Iggy has to figure out how the dragon world works while caring for his offspring and falling in love with Alistair. There is so much humor, snark, and incredibly sexy moments throughout this book. The writing combo of Piper Scott and Virginia Kelly is electric—they are both great writers on their own and together they have created a fascinating and enjoyable story.

The audiobook was narrated by Michael Ferraiuolo who did a fantastic job. I love Michael’s voice and always enjoy his audiobook performances. He really nailed the personalities of each character and I was totally engaged with the story. The audiobook production was well done and I enjoyed this book immensely.

Piper Scott and Virginia Kelly have a winner on their hands! This is book one of what I can already tell will be an AMAZING series! This one gives you everything: sex, mpreg, eggs (or meggs) and dragons! What more could a reader want?!?

You also get a developing story of true love, and family - both created and blood. I love how the story builds, and you can see the sub-plots developing to become more stories.

Nate and Alistair start like most guys, through a one-time hook-up. What happens next is nothing short of amazing. Nate gets pregnant, lays eggs (because you know - dragons), Alistair rescues them, and Nate and Alistair fall in love. Along the way there is trouble with the dragon council, family, friends and a pig that becomes a pet instead of breakfast. But you never loose sight of the fact that they most important ingredient in this book is love.

This book perfectly sets up the next in the series, and if I'm honest, at least one other.... and I can not wait for those!

This is my second time reading and listening to this book. I have read a couple of mpreg books before, but this is the first series I have read that is an mpreg with Dragon eggs/egg laying and the concept is rather interesting to me. I don't know if I have a preference of which type of mpreg I like (egg laying vs. Human child), but I might prefer the egg laying because - at least in this series - the omega isn't saying "I hate you and this is all your fault that I'm suffering through this pain" during labor. Which I find it sad and rubs me the wrong way when I read someone say that as having a child is a 2 person process and it's something that you should want together, despite the pain and discomfort it brings. Also, the whole giving birth scene just seems to be more tolerable for me to read at times when it's about laying eggs and not about giving birth to a child.

* Spoilers *
I don't think I have a whole lot to say about this book. I did enjoy reading it and there wasn't a whole lot of angst as despite a few ups and downs, everything went pretty smoothly. I am curious if Nate will finish whatever he was doing at school at some point. Also, I am curious on if Nate and Alistair will have another clutch at some point in their lives. Can baby dragons be female alphas? Nate had named one of his baby dragons Malory and I thought that was more of a girls name than a boys name, but who knows. I am also curious with just how big their new house is, which I am guessing it's probably big, but not as big as what Ev and Sebastian have.
I did enjoy both Nate and Alistair as characters, but I felt like Alistair was very negative towards himself except towards the end. I'm guessing it's from all the other dragons - mainly his family - belittling him on who he is and what he does with his wealth. It kind of didn't make sense on what Ev meant by that Alistair always got himself into trouble and so on, when it was never stated how he got into trouble in the past and on what he even did to get into trouble. And if Alistair was brought up with his family constantly saying stuff like that to him, it's no wonder he kept looking down on himself, on what he had, and considering himself a failure as a dragon. I am relieved that Nate was perfectly happy with what Alistair had - and with who he was - and simply wanted to be with Alistair and their eggs/baby dragons and nothing more. Material possessions were pretty much bonuses for Nate. I do find it interesting and somewhat amusing that once Alistair started making more money and Nate saw what Sebastian and Perry had in their hoard with the bed, that he wanted something better than Alistair's throne in their new hoard. But it's understandable that he would have a few suggestions of what he wanted in their new home. I'm not exactly sure If I liked the whole "I provide for you" dynamic Alistair had towards Nate as it did make their relationship feel a bit unbalanced at times - mainly in the epilogue - but if their happy with it than it is what it is. I am looking forwards to rereading Harry and Ev's story again. The last time I read this series I only got to the beginning of book 3 and stopped because it just seemed stressful with the whole forbidden relationship, but this time around I plan on finishing this series. I am curious if we will see all of Alistair's siblings, since he said he had seven (?) other siblings (or maybe he said there was seven of them in the family?) But so far we've seen Ev, Sebastian, and Geoffrey, so I'm curious on who we will see next out of the siblings.

*Narration*
The narration definitely heightened my enjoyment of the story. At times it was a little hard to tell who was speaking, but that only happened occasionally. There was a couple other issues I had, but weren't exactly too big of a deal. In the beginning when Alistair is telling Nate repeatedly to nest so that he can heal him and also allow Nate to calm down, more than once it sounded like the narrator was saying rest instead of nest, except for maybe the very last time Alistair said to nest. So that whole nest and rest mix up was a bit confusing. Another time the sentence that Alistair had spoken was completely cut off from the audio, so it would sound a little odd if you weren't reading along, even though it was a very long sentence and the meaning of it was pretty much repeated after he had said it. And then the narrator accidentally said siblings instead of hatchling towards the end of the book, which it also has the same meaning in that moment. So basically the issues I had aren't really that big of a deal for me and it's probably just me being nitpicky.

Overall, this is a pretty good book and I would recommend it to other people if they were interested in this genre with mpreg.

But, Ethan Storm is a past love and when he was made a wolf shifter to save his life, he realized then that Marissa was his fated mate. Six years later, he finally decides that he needs to claim her. After years of abuse Mina goes on the run rather than be mated to an Alpha that shouldn't carry the title. Enter Rafe, Alpha of the Black Paw pack and her True Mate, who literally sweeps her off her paws and marks immediately upon meeting her, but her old Alpha is not giving up and he reigns destruction down in her new pack as well as her sisters. Great first book in what i think will be a wonderful new series by Melanie James. While not as wise cracking as her " Leigh" witch series, this has plenty if humor, intrigue, and hot sex !! There are a few controversial subjects mentioned; such as beating women into submission and killing for the sake of evil, but they are not delved into heavily, but should be noted for readers under 18 and anyone with psychological triggers. 4⭐'s !! And I can't wait to read book 2 !!

Firelord (Alpha Lords Book 8)

First he will punish her. Then he will breed her.

An arrowhead forged in dragon fire should have killed the beast Caitlyn came to slay, but she missed. Perhaps her aim was poor… or perhaps her body knew its master and betrayed her.

Either way, it doesn’t matter now. She is at her enemy’s mercy, and he is not going to be gentle.

She will be spanked until she is sobbing and begging, but the real screaming will begin when the Lord of Fire claims his mate, ravaging her quivering body in the way only one of his kind can.

Soon she will know what it means to be bred by a dragon.

Truly engrossing fast read from Ms. James. A little comical too. 😉 The Firelord is the fourth Elemental Dragon to find his true mate as Kellan, Duncan and Gideon before him. With the Firelord’s reawakening we are closer to the ending of the saga that caused their thousand-year sleep. But first Seth, the Firelord must tame his true heart and keep her from trying to kill him! Caitlyn has trained for the day when she can kill Seth, and eventually take over the realm according to legend. She’s good with a bow and arrow but is she good enough?
And then there is the reason all the Elemental Dragons have been brought out of their long sleep: the war is coming and a vampyr of old is trying to take over. Can they stop him and his league in time?
Keep in mind that this is a discipline story with lots of spanking and lots of “making up” afterward. 😳 Really steamy stuff. This was a real page-turner and I loved it. My only problem with it was that there were a few places where the shift from scene to scene was not clear whereas in others the delineation by asterisks was clear. Fix those and it is a five-star book. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book and if you like spanking discipline and its aftermath 😜you will want to read this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly Surprised

I have not been overly fond of this series, and my reviews have been on the negative side due to repetitious stories and characters (male) who are interchangeable. I was surprised that I enjoyed Seth and Caitlyn's story so much. I figured Seth would be another arrogant, domineering dragon who didn't show growth or change, but he was the best of the bunch! Yes, he was still arrogant and changed Caitlyn without her consent. And punished overly harshly at times. But he was at least willing to accept Caitlyn for who she was, and allowed her to use her strengths and talents to help him. He was also more laid back and willing to see humor when his mate was "sassy" than the other dragons. Kellan is still the worst of the bunch - his mate is dragon-born and he STILL tries to keep her away from any type of interaction that could be deemed dangerous!

I loved when the female dragons met and got together to put a halt to their husband's school-yard behavior! Also loved that Caitlyn got a few licks in on Seth at the beginning. Yes, she fell to his lust WAY too fast, but at least she made him work for her! I so enjoyed that she was able to allude him for a few days!

The battle scenes were a bit anti-climatic. Again, I thought it was stupid to make the women stay back at Gideon's stronghold instead of helping. They're dragons for Pete's sake! They would be so much more valuable in a battle than mere humans! And could have, like Caitlyn, stayed back but still had a part. Enjoyed seeing the wolves show up and form a new alliance, but wish Emma could also have played a bigger role. But this was by far the best in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars SHE WILL BE WAITING FOR YOU WHEN YOU WAKE
Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2020
Once again, Ms. Delta James has penned a page-turning, action-packed, romantic suspense filled shifter tale. Whether you have read her Wayward Mates series or not, the story will read well as a stand-alone. If you did read Wayward Mates, the story takes place many years into the future; a plague has ravished the earth, things are returned to the old ways, before technology.

NOTE: This is a post-apocalyptic dark shifter romance. It contains explicit sex scenes and may seem like non-con or dubious consent—but it is the way of life among these shifters---especially when they are fated mates. It is a way of life, with a strong, dominant alpha male and an equally strong submissive female who eventually capitulates and finds the pleasure in his control and mastery over her body. Yes, it even comes with the coveted HEA ended.

The story is the fourth of the elemental dragon shifters and will be Seth, the Fire Dragon. He is also the one that was known to enjoy women frequently. When he returns to Stone Fire, he will have two women at his ready to slake his long-overdue lust. But after the first one, he will be attacked. His assassin will escape, and he must go after them, but what he finds is a shock; it isn’t a man but a woman.

“I am Seth, Lord of Fire, and who might you be? More important, why are you trying to kill me?”
“I am death,” she hissed.
“Curious name for a beautiful girl. I will teach you to threaten your dragonlord.”

The story will have a powerful chemistry between Seth and Caitlyn, and while she tried to kill him, he has great admiration for her. When she escapes, he is lost without her, but he will find her and bring her back home.

“Stay safe, my true heart, but know I am coming, and I will make you pay dearly for your latest misadventure. “

The story also brings a danger that will have the four dragons and the alpha wolves together to fight evil. It will be good versus evil, and this is the battle that decides the future. It was fun seeing all the alpha wolves, their mates, the dragons, and their mates all working together.

While Caitlyn may have wanted to kill Seth initially, she has great respect for him and he for her. He teaches her how to fly, being positive, and even agreeing to allow her to be with him in battle. Unlike the other dragons, he has waited to breed her because of the immortality issue.

“There is nothing more important to me than you. You are my lover and my mate—my beloved and my comrade. Yes, my love. We will see it through to the end—together.”

As with the other stories in this series, it contains discipline and explicit sex scenes—but there are some unique characteristics to a dragon---read it and find out! I don’t know if this will be the final story in this series, but this is the battle that everything has been leading up to, and they claim their victory.

Skylord (Alpha Lords Book 7)

She set out to slay a dragon. She ended up claimed and bred.

When Duncan awoke from long centuries of sleep, Aurora was waiting for him, ready to strike him down and avenge her ancestors. But the Lord of the Sky is not so easy to kill, and she ended up punished, sore, and screaming with every helpless climax as he ravaged her mercilessly.

But the ancient beast didn’t just strip her bare, spank her until she was soaked and sobbing, and then use her as savagely and shamefully as he pleased. He did much more than that.

He bred her, seeding her virgin body ruthlessly and thoroughly, over and over again.

When a dragon claims his mate, he leaves no doubt she is bound to him forever.

Aurora has been taught that the Elemental Dragons were not worthy and must be killed. She knew that there were two still “sleeping” so she decided to secretly enter their cave and kill them. Duncan is the third of the Elemental Dragons to awaken from their thousand-year slumber. What woke him or rather who?
This was a fascinating and very steamy paranormal story told in dual points of view about ancient times when dragons roamed the lands and protected the people from other shifters or just others…If you’ve ever read a Delta James book you know what I mean by steam. Lots and lots. Clever story with connections to the previous two books in this series of standalones, DRAGONLORD and SEALORD. Short but thoroughly entertaining if you like steamy paranormal dragon stories with spankings and blushing “cheeks.”
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book and now want to read the other two as well as the last in this series! Love the cover too. Something is coming and this world will need these four dragons…

Author Delta James has once again claimed the 5+STAR recommendation only because I cannot award more stars. SKYLORD, Ms. James’s latest standalone paranormal romance, is set in the same world as WARLORD and DRAGONLORD. A world that is both seductive and complex, where paranormal beasts rule over lands filled with their kind and humans both, and a world that is so compelling that it is difficult to come back to life’s reality. This world has given birth to six intriguing and captivating stories and the promise of at least one more – though I am hoping for so many more! Within this dangerous world, author James has given her readers alpha men who have both the strength and daring needed to tame the strong women they need to sire their young and stand next to them as they rule and protect the beings they have sworn to protect. SKYLORD finds our heroine, Aurora, finally at Dunnet Head and ready to do what she must to stop the last two dragons resting there from waking, forever. Instead, she must deal with an awakened Skylord, our hero Duncan, who recognizes Aurora as his mate and true heart. With prose both alluring and descriptive, Ms. James weaves her tale of two strong personalities who find themselves at cross-purposes and pulls her readers into the middle of that action. Where characters who seem both real and worthy are struggling to be the leaders their positions require and a deserving mate to their true hearts. If you are 18 or over and are not offended by spankings and sexual scenes, then SKYLORD should be your next romance purchase! I volunteered to read a copy of SKYLORD and this is my honest, voluntary review. I have purchased a copy of SKYLORD as well and plan to put it in the FAVORITES collection on my Kindle. Happy pages! 😉

I thought it was a fun story with lots of history that helps reconcile with what has already happened in this series and what's to come. There are 6 sentences with missing words, so while it isn't a huge deal, I would have someone edit one more time. I wish we got more of Stanis, but maybe its still coming in the next book?

Tessa is a private chef, she is hired to cook for Damien Morgan, a rich real estate developer. He is so much more than that though, and he attacks Tessa while she is in his kitchen. She is rescued by her next door neighbor, who explains to Tessa that Damien Morgan is a dragon shifter and he is very dangerous, then she sends Tessa to her friends. Tessa arrives at Kia Point Estate in Maui, where she will meet Kai, a dragon shifter, and his friends, all of them shifters. Tessa will learn things about her family and herself that she never knew. She and Kai will have to battle Damien Morgan and his cohorts in order to keep an ancient jewel, and Tessa herself from being captured and used by the evil dragon.

Wow, fascinating, sizzling hot characters, an exciting plot with some suspenseful moments, and a happily ever after make this a must read shifter romance. Fantastic book, I loved it.

Lure of the Dragon brings Tessa to Kai's doorstep literally. I loved Tessa and her inner strength. As the story progressed you could watch the changes in Tessa as she accepted a legacy that she didn't have the first clue about. And then there's yummy as pie Kai! The man who would beg for her. Kai and his band of brothers know how to deal with the problem that Tessa is having. It felt genuine to have the close knit group accept Tessa easily. Of course, since she's a chef and they say the way to a man's heart is his stomach…

The men are all super heroes getting involved and not letting the danger to close to Tessa. The motley crew is made of different shifters, not just dragons. Yeah! That means as I go through the series I will get all my favorite shifters. The little tidbits of each man, the tiniest inkling of who they are, made them very warm and likeable even Cruz.

I can't wait for Silas' story. There was just enough hinted to intrigue me into wanting more. I know from reading the excerpt that the next book won't be Silas. I'll just have to wait, probably until the last books. This is the first in the Aloha series but is a stand alone book.

This romantic adventure sends the reader to the exotic island of Maui where shifters hide in secret. Suspense, action, and danger fill the pages as life threatening incidents occur. The intriguing plot holds your attention until the conclusion and picturesque and powerful scene descriptions charm you. There is, of course, toe-curling sizzling romance and a happy euphoric ending after all the hurdles are defeated.

A fantastic fast-paced story which is skillfully written by a truly gifted author. The full cast of characters is praise-worthy, and the engaging witty dialogue is impressive. Tessa is definitely feisty and a force to be reckoned with; not afraid to stand up to the powerful dragon Kai who slowly bends to accept her independent persona. The romance between Tessa and Kai is certainly convincing and their love for each other shines in this story. I adored all the characters in this story and await the next one in this thrilling new standalone series. If you treasure shifter romance this is definitely a fabulous addition to your library. {I loved this story so much I reviewed an advanced copy.} Without reservations, I recommend this book.

Love this new series by Ms. Lowe. It has everything I love such as dragon, bear and wolf shifters. Oh yummy!

I really enjoy the fun pace of Ms. Lowe's books. I loved how the story was modeled after Magnum PI a show I totally loved for its quirks. The description of the island, the homes, and the cars was fantastic.

The narrator Kelly Osbourne has grown on me after hearing her narrate several books now. I'm starting to really enjoy her.

The couple in this story are Tess and Kai. I loved them both instantly. I loved how they interacted and how they seemed to just fit as a couple. Kai was so understanding and Tess was a bit of a surprise especially when she got angry at Kai for telling her what to do. Sparks galore.

The secondary characters were pretty awesome as well. I'm looking forward to learning all about Boone in the next book. It was pretty sweet to have a nod towards the Twin Moon Pack in Arizona.

This book was pretty steamy hot and I really liked the time lapse involved in the story. Until the next listen, which there will be from this author and narrator as he does a great job also.

I really loved the story of the young girl, well woman, who is kidnapped and turned into a vampire. The sex is way overboard for my taste and after a while i just skimmed through it. Unfortunately when i do that I definitely feel that i am losing out on parts of the story, potentially. But we jump from Regency into the Future and our Vampire Heroine is now a sexy predator but still unfortunately hunted by her Vampire Sire. Like I said, lots of really good story here.

Now along comes the Hero who is a Wolf Shifter. And there's all kinds of good details set up in his back story. Unfortunately he's got that Domestic Violence versus Domestic Discipline thing going on ... Let's face it, this Author enjoys having her heroines being bruised up by their men. Flung around a room, against walls, onto floors, furniture, terrorized, bleeding, injured - its all OK because the guy loves her and she gets orgasms so what's the problem? And in this case the Heroine points out REPEATEDLY to wolfboy that there is no difference between what he is forcing on her than what her Vampire Sire forced on her. Yet he's pissed at her VS? So why is he doing the same things if not worse to her? But wolfboy is like well that doesn't matter because you are my fated mate so i can treat you however i want and you will just have to put up with it.

There's romance for you, folks.

Still, fun story. Especially the little twist at the end. 💖👍💋👻
