Taulan (Dragons of Preor Book 2)

He wants to return to Preor and she wants a job, but you don’t always get what you want.

Lana Cooper is down to her last hundred dollars, has no job, and her clunker of a car has finally clunked out. How has her life become such a cluster of horribleness? Oh, right. A guy. Only she doesn’t get a chance to beg for a job. Nope, one walk along the beach changes everything. Oh, she has a job now… as the mate to a hot, hunky Preor dragon male.

Taulan sen Pavon is anxious to return to his home on Preor. Yes, he’d journeyed to Earth in hopes of finding a human mate, but now… Now he would like to heal in the privacy of his aerie. Wings destroyed and body damaged by an explosion, he has no desire to watch others find joy with their mates while he remains unworthy and alone on a ship filled with thousands. But then he finds Lana. Lana with her alluring smile, sparkling eyes, luscious body, and whose mere presence initiates the Knowing.

Can he live long enough to claim her? Can she see past her father’s prejudice to love him? Both questions are pointless because there are still Preor who despise the joining of humans and dragons. They will stop at nothing to drive a wedge between the races. Including murder.

Another SciFi blockbuster that has a little bite of a twist. Ms. Celia's books are as always stupendous between her characters and plots each page just flows on through to the next.
It is definitely a MUST READ Series, yes it could be stand a lone since the characters are explained but this is an amazing series you'll want to read it all.

The Knowing…is kind of like all the knowledge of the Preor will be gifted to a mated couple (literally downloaded in there brain, they have no choice it automatically does it) Because the Knowing will let you know if you have a mate when you get close enough to her, it won’t be a matter of choosing. The Knowing will strike you whether you will it or not.

Lana Cooper aka: Lana Coburn is a human who has been running to get far far away from a very abusive relationship the last time she saw him, he inflicted on her broken ribs, arm and many many bruise, with help she got away so scared he'd find her. Lana was down to her last hundred dollars and living out of her car. She needed this job she was interviewing for. The Ujal, are water-living aliens that are in the ocean, there Prince is very protective of his very young daughter, so when Lana saw her in the ocean she ran to save her, that's when the "Knowing" hit yet she over road it and swam to save the child. Only to be arrested.
Taulan sen Pavon is a Dragon Shifter from Preor who was drastically injured when fighting traitors who set off two explosions on the spaceship. The first traitor he saw was Prasho the Training Master who kept hollering "For Purity" Which Taulan in turn screamed "For Honor" Then another traitor came at him Kazor, the Primary Training Warrior. As if that wasn't enough the traitors Malin, Yuzin, Rawet came into the fight. Because of this he was very close to dying, he lived his wings did not, he was now wingless. Now because of this he will never find his mate. Nothing can stop the KNOWING.
A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion,

Once again Erin Tate has written an amazing book. Taulan, his wings destroyed during a fight with other Preor warriors who want to stop human females from mating with Preor warriors, he thinks his life is over. Lana is running from an Ex who was so abusive that she changed her name and was going to get a job with the Ujal to take care of younglings. Walking on the beach Lana sees a tiny girl racing to the ocean waves, the male with her not going after her. Jumping into action Lana is able to get to the little girl and brings her to safety. However, getting caught with fake ID by the Ujal and having a little princess in her arms is a fast track to BIG trouble. Lana is tossed into an interrogation cell. Taulan is going to get to his mate even though the Ujal are determined that she is going to answer all their questions.

Since I am a softee, I was hoping that somehow love would re-grow dragon wings. That is why Erin is the writer and I can just read, she knows what will work in a story.... still I do wish that somehow Taulan will get his wings back

3.0 out of 5 stars Review: Taulan ~ Enjoyable!

Taulan is book two in the Dragons of Preor series by Celia Kyle. I do love to read about dragons. They are my favorite type of creature to explore.

This was an enjoyable Sci-Fi Romance with a dragon shifter, Taulan and a down on her luck heroine, Lana.

I liked that Lana showed her mate Taulan that even though he doesn't have wings he is still sexy and worthy of a mate. The changes that Lana goes through from being an abused women to one with confidences was nice to see. The romance is lovely and the world building is decent. It’s a light fast quick read.

The only thing that bothered me was the flow at the beginning. We end one chapter with Taulan going to fight and open the next with him and his mate in a cell then the next chapter them out. I felt like we need more. More depth, development, or something.

This book had fighting scenes, a standing up for yourself scene, fast-paced action (like I can't wait to finish this book because it's soo good), some sex scenes (but they weren't descriptive) & the good vs bad plot in it.

Taulan was one of the warriors that was on the ship when it exploded & he lost his wings. Lana had lost everything & had been living out of her car & they met on the beach outside UST because Theresa, Tave & Rina's child escaped (playfully) from Taulan & went into the water & then Lana went in after her. Immediately after that both Taulan & Lana were struck with the Knowing (you will have to read the books to find out what that is).

This book was very good & I will now be going on to read the next book in this series.

Final Thoughts

As I sit and type this up, I find myself shaking my head at people. The remnants of Hurricane Ida has wrecked havoc on the Northeast. The images we see show flooding everywhere.

A common theme seems to be cars stranded on roads and intersections where the drivers thought they could drive through the water. Folks, take a good look at just how high your car sits up off the ground. For newer cars, that clearance isn’t all that much! If the water is deeper than that, you aren’t going to make it!

Trucks and SUVs have somewhat more clearance, but I remember seeing images of 18 wheelers up to their axles in water. People, pay attention! Don’t drive through the water. It will cost you more than you can think to fix that car.

Jarek: Dragons of Preor #1

What’s hotter than an alien with scales? An alien with wings and scales, not to mention a hot body.

At 457 Preor years old, Jarek sen Claron is a dragon ready for his final flight into the skies. This voyage to Earth as the War Master of the third fleet will be his final assignment. Once he has helped his fellow Preors secure human mates, he will return to Preor before the madness of loneliness overtakes his mind.

That all changes when he meets Melissa. Human Melissa with her sparkling eyes, bright smile, and body that would make any hot-blooded male drool. Unfortunately, she never registered as a Preor mate hopeful. No matter, the Knowing stretches between them and there is no way she can resist him. Until she does.

Jarek wishes to give her the choice to mate him, while everything inside him screams to take Melissa beneath his wing, now. No choosing necessary.

But should he draw her to his side when his enemies are circling? Many males do not believe the son of a Preor mass murderer deserves to have a mate. Can he survive the coming battles? Or will he die without tasting sweet Melissa’s lips?

The Reviews!

If you are looking for steam factors, keep looking. To be perfectly honest, I’ve read books with a great deal more steam. BUT if you are looking for world building and great descriptions, take a look inside. The world building is first rate, the descriptions are fabulous. The characters are well written with flaws that we can all relate to. I first read this series a few years ago. I keep coming back to it because the author keeps adding to it, and I’m curious about where she will take it next!

This is a paranormal romance with action. This is the first book in the Dragons of Preor. I can not wait to read more. This is for adult's only due to the sexual content. This is a fast paced read with a HOT dragon alien what more could you ask for? I really enjoyed the connection between Jarek and Melissa and how he gave her time to adjust to him, he didn't force their mating on her.

Jarek is a alien dragon who is on his final flight, he is ready to accept he will never mate and he will die a lonely mad death. Well until he meets human Melissa, he wants to take her immediately but she has other plans. Tragedy strikes and Jarek is in danger, Melissa realizes she has feelings for him.... more than she was willing to admit. Can she accept this dragon of a man, or will Jarek parish from his injuries?

Favorite passages:
"His voice slid over her, vibrating against her nerves and then sinking into her bones."
"She did not sign up to be Miss Hope of America, thankyouverymuch."
"She didn't mean to sound like a bitch. Really. But overwhelming pain and the urge to vomit up her intestines sorta made a girl want to bust out her b**** hat."
"Oh, she could walk away, but she wasn't sure she find happiness with anyone other than the great hulking make before her."
"Your tears batter my heart."
"All righty then. At some point she grew a set of balls. Big brass ones, apparently."
"The dark water drew nearer, death beckoning him like a siren and he did not have the strength to resist."

I haven't read the previous series that introduced Jarek's character, but I didn't need to in order to fall in love with the new Dragons of Preor series. Alien shifter dragons...what?!!! Totally hot, sexy, alpha men looking for their soulmate to love, cherish and make little dragonlets with. Um, yeah. Since I already have my "one and only" I don't need to order a Dragon of Preor, but if I didn't...I'm just sayin'. Put me on the meet-n-greet list.

Love the world, interesting characters, and a solid plot.
Ready for the next book in the series...

This is the first book that I have read by Celia Kyle. I have two of her other books on my TBR list and am hoping to read them soon. Wanted to read this series because she has a new book in this series coming out about baby dragons being born and I want to read it. So, I am reading the ‘The Dragons of Preor” right now. Loved this first book about Jarek and his mate Melissa. Thought Celia did an excellent job telling their story. I am hoping that this is a sign of the rest of the books in this series. This one for sure is one to grab and read. I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Jarek is a dragon shifter on the planet Preor. These dragons keep the wings when in human form. (Which I thought was an awesome take on the dragon shifter.) He is getting to the age where he will go into the madness since he has not found his mate in his 457 years and he never thought to ever find her. So, as the War Master of the third fleet he decided to help the young dragons find their mate with the treaty from earth and the help of the Ujal. He had no idea that he would ever find his mate, much less on earth. He figured this would be his last trip before heading into his final journey as the madness consumes him. Once he leaves the ship to meet with the Ujal delegation he gets this odd feeling that something isn’t right and being the War Master assumed that maybe the Ujal were in danger. But that changes once he reaches delegation and he sees Melissa with the Prince Tave’s baby then the Knowing struck.

The Ujal are going to be advocates in helping the Preor find their human mates. Melissa never registered as a potential Preor mate because she is the nanny to the baby of the Ujal Prince Tave and Principessa Rina fa’Vyl-Zeret. While playing with the baby Ressa, Melissa’s world began to change. She could tell that something wasn’t right and that it was as if the air is sucked out of her. She has feelings that she isn’t feeling and can’t seem to separate each feeling from the next.

This is where I stop. Because from here on out you need to read the book and see for yourself how good it gets. Jarek has his job cut out for him in protecting Melissa and himself from the Preor that do not believe he deserves a mate. Will Jarek and Melissa survive the coming storm?
