Dragon Fury: Reign of Fire Book 3

You cannot escape your fate, especially when dragons are involved.

Wonderful ending to the series. Cooper and Raine are a great couple. I really enjoyed watching them grow closer together.

Reluctant Retiree

Raine has not one but two dragons hunting her. The spirit of an ancient dragon queen who wants to join with her and a bossy male dragon shifter who thinks she is his fated mate.

Cooper is the leader of the Ice Dragons. As he has waited for his mate to appear he has become cold and distant. Watching his friends meet and join with their mates he knows she is coming back soon. This time he will do what is necessary to keep her safe.

Before Raine arrived in Alaska looking to expand her wilderness business she does not know dragons existed. Her sexy and surly bush pilot is none other than Cooper. He recognizes her as his fated mate. When she and Cooper meet sparks fly but not the good kind.

The Cherufe are on the rise again. A battle is coming that can only be won by Raine allowing the dragon queen to join with her.

Can Cooper find his humanity and Raine accept her drakaina in time to lead the fight to put the Cherufe away for good?

The story is the third and final in the Reign of Fire trilogy. I think that it is, by far, my favorite of the three, maybe because I really like Raine and how she handled herself. Cooper and Raine have a huge difference of opinion and just clash from the beginning. The way he ‘tries’ to handle her only makes her angrier. Cooper McKinley has no finesse when talking to Raine, and it only irritates her.

Raine has felt lost since Aria and Eden fell in love. She travels to Alaska to consult with the town of Glacier about bringing Wildworks there to offer upscale guide services. Talking on the phone with Theo was promising but meeting the pilot in Fairbanks and being taken to the town, she isn’t so sure. Then to have Cooper dictate to her, telling Theo to take her phone and computer, makes her extremely upset. Enough that she plans to hike to another town.

The story has plenty of mystery, suspense, secrets, and surprises. Aria’s grandmother used to tell these stories about the Cherufe, but now she is hearing voices. But once she joins with Zafira and becomes a drakaina, she learns that Cooper believes her to be his eternal flame and fated mate. Not that she is willing to accept it.

“We will be one. Your destiny awaits you in the frozen north. Denali and the Ice Dragons need you to defeat the Cherufe.”

Cooper: You are my fated mate.
Raine: Which seems to mean everything to you. The answer to all questions. And yet, it means nothing to me. Nothing.
Cooper: Shift now and return to Glacier at my side, or I will take you there by force.
Raine: Such a charming invitation, and yet I feel compelled to refuse. Here’s the deal McKinley—if I am your fated mate, you won’t do anything to really harm me. But I despise you and refuse to be shackled to you in any way, shape, or form, which means I will do whatever is necessary to claw my way to freedom.
Cooper: Then you are settled in your mind.
Raine: Yes. I will not be carted off by some neanderthal dragon lord who thinks he can impose his will on me.
Cooper: That is where you are wrong. I am Alpha to the Ice Dragons and you’re my queen. You will submit to my will and my authority or else pay the consequences.
Raine: You lay a hand on me, and you’d better never close your eyes again.
Cooper: Then we are agreed. I will make you rue the day you threw your gauntlet at my feet.

The story is a page-turner and full of angst between Cooper and Raine. She doesn’t capitulate to his demands—or wishes and shows she can hold her own. Her hurt with her friends will be mended and they will help her. The future is in her hands, Zafira has shared insight into the past and what must happen in the future. Getting Cooper to trust her, her training, and her skills, and allowing her to be part of eliminating the Cherufe is critical.

“The man can kiss. But he doesn’t just get to walk into my life and say, ‘me dragon; you drakaina; you mine,’ and expect me to be okay with that.”

am going to be honest here. Raine was a difficult pill to swallow. I am used to the female main characters in Delta James' books being strong, intelligent, and independent. I am used them not easily giving in the the H's dominance. I am used to them using that strength and intelligence to get out of various situations.

What I am not used to is Raine's behavior. She was acting almost completely from a place of emotion, or I should say she was reacting. I am not saying Cooper was in the right here at all. He could have handled the situation better. I don't know that he deserved the physical assault she visited on him.

What bothered me is she gave no thought to her behavior, was not acting based on trying to find out any information that might be helpful, did not pause long enough to use her intelligence or try to be calculating in getting herself out of the situation. She was just a sheer ball of anger lashing out at anyone in her way.

Her being a red head was no excuse for her behavior. Not what she did to the Ice Dragon village or what she did to where Phantom Fire lived. Raine was just obnoxious.

It was hard to overcome my dislike of her until after she and Falkor were together. I still didn't like her, but I was able to lessen my dislike of her. Her behavior took away from the possible relationship with Cooper and diminished any romantic vibe. I don't feel like they were together enough to even try to establish a relationship.

The best part of the book was the training and the battle. I am looking forward to finding out more about Falkor. I would give this one 3.5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars YOU’RE MARRYING THE WRONG DRAGON
Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2022
The story is the second in the trilogy of Reign of Fire and picks up with Eden Sommersby’s wedding to Corbin Pontius. Things aren’t as they seem, and nothing is going right for her wedding. When Ridley Monroe arrives early for the wedding with support from his clan, he realizes that Corbin and his minions have nefarious plans. Helping Eden rescue herself from a terrible fate, a called-off wedding, and discovering his fated mate comes with fulfilling obligations before pleasure. Convincing Eden that she is his fated mate won’t be easy—she feels he has ghosted her. She is hurt and angry, and these two must reconnect, where Ridley shows his dominance and Eden submits to him. The Cherufe intends to rise again, and it will take the heart of a drakania queen and dominant dragon to win this battle.

“I believe in the saying that those who don’t know and understand their history are doomed to repeat it.”

“Our love will burn with an eternal fire and we will soar the heavens together, for that is our destiny.”

Sarlay: She is yours, but she is mine as well.
Ridley: And who might you be?
Sarlay: I am she who once ruled here and who followed my sisters into the Rift. We believed we had defeated them, but we were wrong. The Cherufe mean to rise again and this time they must be defeated for all time.
Ridley: You are Sarlay?
Sarlay: I am she who will join with your eternal fire. Best you take care how you try to claim me.

Sarlay: We shall be one. You are not afraid.
Eden: Should I be?
Sarlay: No. Your courage was part of what drew me to you. When the time is right, and I am needed, call to me and we shall be one.
Eden: Who are you? And what is that thing you keep fighting?
Sarlay: I am the spirit of Sarlay, and the battle with the beast you have seen was a long, long time ago. We thought we had defeated the Cherufe, but we only forced them to retreat. One has risen and was defeated by Cessene and her mate. Two more will rise. The destruction of one will be up to you and your mate.
Eden: In case you missed it—I am currently single and have neither prospects nor plans for that to change.
Sarlay: Do not fear. He is coming for you.

The story’s plot will have Eden and Ridley reconnecting, but she is angry at him. She isn’t upset about the marriage between Corbin ending, but she feels Ridley has ghosted her. It will be challenging for these two strong-willed souls to find their path together. She may have been dreaming of Ridley, but that doesn’t mean she is ready to forgive and accept him and his dominance.

“Give over to me, Eden. I am your fated mate, and we will be as one.”

The story is a paranormal battle of good and evil—and not all dragons will fall in the good category. A strong evil force wants to destroy the dragons and humans and reign on earth. The past and present will collide, and Ridley must trust Eden/Sarlay to be part of the battle. Together, they must defeat the Cherufe as a team.

I love the angst, passion, and chemistry of Ridley and Eden. She has dreamed of him, of them, and of him being a dragon and a man—and her dreams were erotic. She also heard voices, with warnings, and it didn’t frighten her, nor did it have her accepting it. Either she was going crazy, or things were going to happen, and soon—she could feel it.

Ridley: You’re mine Eden. Now and forever. You belong to me, and I belong to you.
Eden: You know what they say, while dragons plan, drakaina laugh.

While this story doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, and we know who the following two main characters will be—we are given a tiny glimpse into their past, and the story will be their future. That will be the story of Cooper McKinley and Raine.

This is a captivating, well written second book in series a thoroughly enjoyable read
I have had the pleasure of reading and reviewing the previous first book in this series and I have to say that I was not at all disappointed in this the second book in the same series. The attention to the characters details and back story was diligent as always with this author and it is always a pleasure to familiarise yourself with them as the story unfold.
Eden Sommersby A successful and well-respected business owner is set to marry but it is soon apparent to her that the man is not as he appears and this is when she had called in the assistance of Ridley Monroe. She is a wary female that is not drawn in by a male’s ego or good looks and she values the worth of what a person does rather that his new worth or how much he claims to be worth.
He is drawn to the man in a way she does not really understand and as she surprised to find that in fact, he is her Fated Mate and that for him there would never be another and this is an extremely important fact.
I thoroughly enjoyed the read and am sure that others like me will find that once you begin reading it is impossible to put this book down.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

The Joy of “Connected” Series

If you don’t know by now, you should. I love book series. I started very young when I first stumbled upon The Black Stallion series by Walter Farley. This series ignited my love of books. It also led me to other short book series.

Somewhere along the line, I started reading “The Dragonriders of Pern” series by Anne McCaffrey. Between what Ms. McCaffrey has written, and the ones written by her son, Todd McCaffrey, this series currently stands at 25 books. Ms. McCaffrey has written several other series, but it seems that none of them connect to the others in any way.

Anna Lowe has also written several series, Twin Moon Ranch, Blue Moon Saloon, Aloha Shifters: Jewels of the Heart, Aloha Shifters: Pearls of Desire, and Billionaires and Bodyguards. While characters from one series are mentioned in the next, there is no real interplay between the two. So not exactly what I call “connected.”

So what do I mean by “Connected?”

I’m going to use the books of Delta James as my examples. Her books were what started me on this quest. Ms. James has written a number of series, some of which are obviously connected, others are not so obviously connected.

A prevalent theme throughout her books is the Dominant/submissive (D/s) theme. Keep that in mind during this discussion. There are things and places mentioned in almost all of her books that are tied to other books. This is the type of connection I am talking about.

In the Wayward Mates series, we are introduced to 9 strong-willed she-wolves (women) and the males who love them. I would say “alphas” but Nick from Claiming His Mate isn’t an alpha, he’s the pack Beta. None of these couples embrace the D/s dynamic but Marco DeMedici and the Florence pack own the club, Dante’s, in Florence, Italy. We learn this little fact in “In Vino Veritas

The next series is “Tangled Vines” and its Prequel, “Corked.” In the prequel is where the brothers, Damien and Linc Steele, buy the small boutique hotel and famed BDSM club, Torch Light” to renovate. Linc and his mate, Grace live a D/s life 24/7. Damian meets his mate in Uncorked with the help of Marco Demedici. As the series continues onward, more couples embrace the D/s dynamic in their lives. We also see them crossing paths and pursuing connections with the alphas from Wayward Mates.

Fated Legacy is a series that introduces us to the adult children of the couples from both Wayward Mates and Tangled Vines. Set 40 years after the two series, the new generation battles an evil force called the “Darkness” thought to have been vanquished by Jean Lafitte, the original alpha of the New Orleans pack. In this series, we are taken to the London club, Baker Street.

Now, I had to check this out and actually ask Ms James, but it turns out that Baker Street is owned by the Cerebus Group from Mercenary Masters! This is actually the first club in the group. You may or may not be surprised to find out that this group are all humans. Nevertheless, the players freely interact in each other’s series.

This club also features prominently in the current series, Masters of the Savoy. As a side note, the opening story, “Advance” has an interesting history. It began life as a story in the 2020 anthology Dirty Daddies. Expanded and rereleased as Best Seller, it was once again re-edited and found its place as the opening story in this paranormal mystery series.

The final set of connections that I’ve traced is to the stories of “Alpha Lords.” This series is set in the post-apocalyptic future and feature the packs of Calon ‘Onest and Ravenscar, among others.

It’s the many connections like these that keep my mind interested and involved with a story. See what connections you can find in your favorite series!

I am a big fan of this series by Coreene Callahan. All those Dragonkind men are smoking hot! This is a side story in the series. It follows Ivy Macpherson and her journey to discovering her true mate and the history of Dragonkind.

The story was great just standing on his own. I think if you have not read the rest of the series, though, you will be a bit lost. Many things happen quickly and with seemingly no question. If you have the back story on the Dragon shifters and how they feed off the Meridian, you will enjoy this story more.

I found myself hoping to get a tie in with the Dragons in the US. I know Forge is from the Scotland but there was no mention of knowing the other group. I am hoping Ivy will somehow be helpful in the fight that is to come given her cyber hacking skills. Looking forward to reading the continuing story in this series. And, if you haven't tried out a Dragon shifter----why?

I feel like I have been searching and waiting forever for the next Dragonfury book by Coreene Callahan. I adored the Seattle Dragonfury team and their mates. We never did get to finish the stories, I hope this new Dragonfury team will merge or overlap with the original one. I loved the aerial fights and the extreme protectiveness of the Seattle team. Now, we have a new team on the East Coast of the USA. We never did finish with the scary European dragons and their backstabbing and cruel ways.

This story starts out with Whiz Hacker, Ivy Macpherson in a cemetery late at night. She is accosted by the FBI and another agency. Her handler in the FBI was using her and then turned on her. They have guns trained on her, she takes a step back and into the invisible arms of Tydrin, a shape shifting dragon. He gets her assent for his protection and then envelops her in his invisibility and takes off.
He discovers that not only is she super smart and talented, but a high energy female capable of fully feeding his energy needs. ( You may need to read at least the first book of the previous series to fully understand this ). He takes her back to his den and his 'brothers'. He has a terrible secret that has kept him feeling guilty for about 20 years.

I was so excited to see a new Dragonfury book! I hope that there will be many more, SOON PLEASE!

Fury of a Highland Dragon by Coreene Callahan

A Dragon finds his mate and he is lost to her allure. He will do anything to have and protect her.

A novella of a series, but can stand alone as introduction to the clan and dragon world. But know it won't answer all questions and it does leave some open issues.
A quick romance, falling in love and commitment. Romance done right.

Rich descriptive prose.
Excerpt:
He drew a deep breath hoping more oxygen would fuel his failing intellect. Frigid air rushed into his lungs. His brain reengaged, force feeding him a shovelful of common sense. A plan. He needed one...right now. Before he did something stupid like scare the everliving shite out of the female. Not the best way if he wanted to get close. And oh how he yearned to, 'cause...aye. Now that he'd seen her he wanted to know how she would taste. How she would fit in his arms, how it would feel to be fed by such powerful energy. The thought crying to him tighter. Excitement skittered down his spine. Tydrin tightened the leash on his control. He didn't want to frighten her. The moment he did, she'd run scared, and he'd lose his chance.
But even as he cemented his plan of attack, temptation urged him to drop his invisibility spell, step up behind her, and grab hold. Take her home. Love her well."

I can't believe it took me so long to read this book! Its been on my list for awhile and I finally got to it! This was very short compared to her others. Didnt pack as much punch but I still enjoyed it. I was a little lost as first since its been awhile since I read Fury of Obsession. It started to come back to me though. I know she's getting ready to release another in a bit and wanted to catch up!

Ivy has been accused of espionage but nobody will listen to her. She goes back to her hometown only to be found. However, someone she never expects rescues her and she is so drawn to him that it totally freaks her the heck out so much she loses all control of her breathing. She's got scarred lungs which is bad and she passes out. What will she do now?

Tydrin has a lot of guilt and self loathing. Knowing he's responsible for ruining lives 20 years ago. He's a good guy but has just forced himself down such dire guilt and darkness. Until he sees her. A HE (High Energy) female. He's never seen or felt one of fed off one. He's gotta have her and help her at the same time. He can't make up his mind but he just cant walk away. Once he knows who she is he knows he'll lose her once she finds out what he did.

Quick read and very sexy. Question is will Ivy still want him? Can Tydrin be what Ivy needs and not desert her and love and care for her?

Natalie changed too once she got away for her prison cell and was with Sveld.
The only thing negative I have to say is that the ending ended with a bit of a cliffhanger between these two.
I realize that several things have to change before they receive their complete hea. (I was sort of hoping that he could join in with Mac's group.) This would probably be an epic novel if everything happened at once.
I am biting at the bit to get more of these glorious dragon stories!

Fury of Conviction is the second book in the Dragonfury Short Story Collection by Coreene Callahan. Who doesn’t love a great dragon shifter story- I know I do! So, it was never any question that I would snap up a copy of this book the moment I saw it in my notifications.
Coreene Callahan is a ‘new-to-me’ author and I am really baffled as to why I haven’t come across her books before now, because after doing a little stalking- er, um, I mean research, I discovered that she has written a slew of Dragonfury books, and as I mentioned before, I LOVE dragon shifter stories, so I am kicking myself that I have been missing out all this time, and I hate missing out on good books lol….
Anyway, I digress, back to my review. This is a great little paranormal romance, with DRAGON SHIFTERS 😊, fantasy, kidnapping, drama, agendas, chemistry, and action. It was a great introduction to Ms. Callahan’s style, and definitely gave me a taste for her work. The only issue I have is that I wish it had been longer (this is a novella length quick and easy read) as there were aspects of the story I would like to have explored in greater detail. It really made me curious about the pack and the Dragonfury ‘world’- so I will definitely be going back to explore the rest of the Dragonfury books/series- as there seems to be quite a lot of full length novels there for me to sink my teeth into…. so stay tuned.

Although it felt like we waited forever for book 6 (Forge's story), I was not disappointed. Forge is one of my favorite characters so I was thrilled to read his story. The connection between him and Hope was very fast and resembled a runaway locomotive--just like the prior couples. Both damaged people who needed someone to cling to and who would listen and understand.

This book not only gave us Forge's mate, but Exshaw finally arrived. I’ve been waiting for him since Hamersveld told Ivar how he got Fen in Fury of Desire (book 4). I'm looking forward to seeing this new little guy in action. I’m sure he’s going to be a pistol.

While we didn't have a lot of scenes that included Forge’s son, there was some interaction with Forge, Hope and G.M. I know other reviewers were upset about this, but I felt it was just the right amount.

I really enjoyed the scene in the garage, with Gage, Osgard, and Forge. Gage’s protectiveness of the young man was really endearing. I also really liked the interaction between Osgard and Forge.

Oh, and we got a few really good scenes with Daimler. I love this guy! He really showed his personality with Hope in this story.

I intrigued by the way Ivar was acting in this story. It reminded me of how he was in “Fury Of Fate.” His development character wise feels necessary to me. In the beginning of the series, he was totally evil and the primary antagonist for the Nightfuries. Now we have a much larger number of bad guys so it’s interesting to see him continue to be developed. Although I don’t think he can be 100% redeemed, I’m finding myself hating Rodin, Zidane, and the Archguard much more.

I’m looking forward to book 7. I hope the wait isn’t as long as between books 5 and 6.

I love all the books in this series. That being said I have waited for Forge's story. Ms. Callahan did not disappoint. Hope is a great match for Forge. She is strong and he needs a strong woman. All the Nightfury dragons are back, as well as Ivan and his pack. This book has lots of action, Ivan finally finds the cure for the superbug he released in the last book. I don't want to give too much away so here goes. Hope is a psychologist who works with victims who have been hurt. She is approached by Mac and Angela to help Forge unlock his past. Forge and Hope's first meeting is great. While trying to get together, Hope's fighting being with a patient, her doubting her work ethics, there is the problem with Mac. This is my new favorite in the series...at least until the next one. I have told my friends they have to read this. It is so wonderful. If you like shap-shifters or dragon stories it is well worth the money and it will leave you wanting more.

The female lead, Hope, is wonderful and next to Angela and JJ, she's become one of my favorites. Her spine is wonderful and you're cheering for her the whole time. You can't help but get wrapped up in her background as well too.

And a side note.... There is a lot of emotion and feelings wrapped around Ivar and once again Coreene has me wanting and cheering for him more and more.

The book, as all her previous ones do, sucks you in and has you getting lost in the story and wishing that you were in Seattle and could find a dragon of your own.

I started with the first book in the series, and within the first chapter I was hooked. I have since read every book in the series. I love action books combined with romance and this book delivered. Be aware that the sex scenes tend to be a little graphic. But, this book is not constant sex, unlike some I've come across. There is a storyline and character development. I thought the author did a good job of balancing between romance and action. I have also read a couple of her other books in a different series, also excellent. Plus, unlike some other books, this didn't require any editing. I could just read the story, rather than blunder along with misspellings, punctuation, and grammar.

The Dragonfury books are one of my favorites. I have loved Venom from the first book. I was really looking forward to his story. While the overall story was good, there just wasn't much of Venom and Evie.
Evelyn has fallen on hard times, she's lost her job, and her mother died recently leaving her to handle the huge gambling debt she owes the Russian mob. She finds herself in a dire situation with, in her mind, only one option left. Sell the only thing she has left to sell, herself.
Venom is a rarity among Dragonkind, a venomous dragon. A very powerful one. He has toxins running through his veins. Any prolonged contact with his skin could kill. He has never been able to spend more than an hour at a time with any female. He's lonely. Now with his best friend mated, he's not only lonely, but bored. That's when he finds himself breaking protocol and heading out without backup, looking for a little female attention. Which is how he ends up meeting Evie. She is a very High Energy female. Very desirable among his kind. And there is instant attraction. One touch and Venom knows she is strong enough to handle his touch. He also knows he's found his mate. But he's determined not to do what his pack mates have done when they find their mates. Kidnapping is not in his plan, he wants to woo her, date her, and introduce her to his world slowly. Things don't go quite as planned, he lets her go, and she finds herself face to face with his enemy. And then he kidnaps her.
This was a good story, but it had a different feel than the earlier books. It seems the farther we get into the major story arc, the war between the Nightfuries and the Razorbacks, the romance seems to drop off the page and we get more of an urban fantasy type story. Venom and Evie meet early in the book, but they don't get together until almost half way through the book. There are lots of subplots going on at once. The metallics, Haider and Gage, dealing with their escape, Ivar and his plotting and dealing with his "superbug", Bastian dealing with everything. I missed the females, the other mates, in this book. Daimler does make a brief appearance but I missed the "family feel" of them being at Black Diamond.
It felt like juggling with too many balls in the air at the same time.
I definitely wouldn't recommend starting with this book. There is too much back story missing. Go back and read the earlier books, get the whole story. It's worth it. I will keep reading the series, I just hope they get back to what drew me to the series in the first place, the romance.

Fury of obsession

He can’t escape the sins of his past…

Toxic to all those who touch him, dragon-warrior Venom lives in self-imposed isolation, a prisoner of the poison in his veins. But when a chance meeting with a woman challenges the belief he is destined to be alone, he pulls out all the stops, vowing to put the savagery of his past behind him and take a chance on love.

She doesn’t want to face her future…

Wanted by the Russian mob, creative accountant Evelyn Foxe isn’t looking for love. She searching for the fastest way to escape instead. When Venom offers to get her out of trouble, she accepts his help, but remains skeptical, afraid he’s in league with those sent to harm her. But when someone unleashes a biological weapon in her hometown, and she gets caught in the firestorm, little choice remains—trust Venom to keep her safe or risk her life by going it alone.

My review .....
I'm going to try to give this a biased review, but be warned .... I LOVE THIS SERIES 😁
So .......
Oh my word !!! Wick is my favourite warrior, but Venom is now a close second.
These warriors are half human, half dragon. Turning into a plethora of different types, fire breathing, lava exploding, and snow blowing ones.
But Venom is special, his forte is toxins. Nothing effects him, but the downside, he can't stay close to a female for too long, only long enough to gain energy, (dragons are only male, they gain energy to survive by tapping into a female energy, using sex)
He has watched from the sidelines as each of his brothers in arms finds his female, they fall in love, bond and live happily ever after, even his best friend Wick, (who hated to take energy from the females) finds a female all of his very own.
Venom is now feeling a little left out, lonely and jealous.
After being taken out of rotation,( not all dragons are good, we have Ivar and his band of dragons) Venom defies his leader and sneaks out, he wants company, the female variety.
Evelyn Foxe is desperate for money, her mother left her with huge gambling debts, and now the Russian mob want it back. And after losing her job, Evelyn is flat broke. She sees her only way out is to sell her soul and body to make the next monthly payment.
The meeting between Venom and Evelyn is explosive, from almost the first moment Venom meets this mysterious lady he is hooked, and once he finds out she is his mate !! Then all bets are off, we are talking alpha male to the max, he wants to know all about Evelyn and how she came to be in the hotel.
There are a few other stories going on, but nothing to distract from the chemistry and the love building between the two main characters.
I've loved this series from the beginning, and I'm hoping Coreene has many more books for us to explore.

This is the fifth book in the Dragon Fury series. I absolutely loved it!

First off, I would like to say that I love the cover! Venom's eyes! *Sigh!*

I downloaded this book in both Kindle and audiobook format, as I have the other books in the series in this way too. This gives me the opportunity to either read or listen to the story, depending on my mood. The audio book is narrated by Cole Ferguson, who does a wonderful job in bringing the characters to life. I must admit I was a little disappointed that Benjamin L. Darcie was no longer narrating the books, but Cole Ferguson's voice sounded just as sexy, so all in all, I wasn't disappointed for long!

Venom is a fantastic character. I have enjoyed getting to know this particular dragon. He has a multitude of layers that get peeled back and revealed as the story progresses. This made me even more intrigued with him, as he has a few secrets that I never would have guessed, and a vulnerability that surprised me, as he struck me as a very confident man who is not afraid of much. That is, until he meets Evelyn Foxe.

Evelyn (Evie) Foxe is also a wonderful character. I liked her very much. She is normally an emotionally strong woman, who usually knows what she wants and goes for it, but now she's desperate. She is a forensic accountant, who has had the rug pulled out from under her feet and is struggling to find a job, and keep a Russian mobster off her back. Can Venom be her ticket out of the situation she finds herself in? Or will she be in more danger?

I have been eagerly waiting for the release of this book for some time. It was well worth the wait! I started to listen to the story and was quickly hooked. I have become totally addicted to this series! The story, in a way, continues on from Fury of Desire. There is a definite story arc beginning to appear and gather pace, as this story is told through several points of view and not just Venom's and Evie's.

All of the dragons from the Night Fury pack are worried about Gage and Hadar, who have gone missing in Prague. These two dragons have not featured much in the story up until now, but as the story arc opens up and the reader gets to see what is happening in Prague, they suddenly become extremely important. There's some seriously sick things happening in that part of the world, and Gage and Hadar find themselves in serious danger. I know it sounds a bit strange, but I really enjoyed their story, even though it's not very nice. There is lots of violence and danger, but these two are a force to be reckoned with. I must admit that Nian is not too shabby himself!
Back in Seattle, Ivar is waiting for results on his experiment, but even he is shocked at the results. Venom and Evie's romance is fraught with excitement and danger. However, I felt their story, although integral to the plot, got a little sidelined due to the larger story arc. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but if you compare the first story to this one, they have less page time together than Bastian and Myst. But, it makes a nice change to have an interracial coupling. I haven't read many books where this occurs, and it brings a different dimension to the story. It also makes me wonder about Sloan's story. Will we ever get to read it one day? I hope so. I reached the end of the story and though it doesn't end on a cliffhanger, it made me look forward to reading/listening to the next book in the series as soon as possible. I just hope I don't have to wait as long for it though!

Coreene Callahan has written another fantastic paranormal romance. She is fast becoming one of my favourite authors to read. Her books are fast paced, exciting and extremely addictive! I love her writing style and the flow is absolutely wonderful!

Due to the use of bad language and the explicit sexual scenes, I do not recommend this book for younger readers. However, I highly recommend this book if you love erotic paranormal romances or books with sexy dragon shifters! - Lynn Worton

Ivar is a villain no doubt. It’s almost impossible for him to be redeemed, but this story makes me want more. We have had snippets into his mind before, but didn’t see him coming around. I can see it now. I read this when it first came out and just reread it now that I’ve jumped back into the series. I’m going to be honest, I read a lot of dark romance, so an Ivar and Sasha book would be right up my alley. I’m hoping CC has something planned for these two. I’d be disappointed if she didn’t. I have hope with the villains series.

At the end, he gets the surprise of his life. If you like quick, steamy, paranormal reads, you might enjoy this story. At the end, I wanted more. Sasha and Ivar have more to tell us. Their story is not complete. I hope the author gives us a more detailed glimpse into Sasha and Ivar’s lives. I want them to have more than a one-night stand.

Fury of Desire (Dragonfury Book 4)

Of all of the warriors in the Nightfury pack, none is more complicated or more damaged than Wick. Emotionally scarred from a childhood of slavery and torture, Wick can barely stand the touch of another person. But all bets are off when he meets newcomer J.J. Solares. When J.J. is unjustly imprisoned, Wick agrees to help rescue and return her to the family fold. But Wick lives a life of self-imposed isolation, even among his beloved brothers in arms. Venturing into the world to seek justice for J.J. may be more than he can bear.

Meanwhile J.J. fights for her life at the hands of brutal prison guard Griggs. When she winds up in the hospital she sees no hope for things getting better. But events take a dramatic turn when she and Wick encounter each other. The connection they share is unlike anything either has felt before. J.J. believes she is hallucinating when she sees the majestic dark-haired god sweep in to save her, and Wick is shaken to his core by the attraction he feels for J.J. For the first time in his life, he finds himself wanting to get close to a woman.

After J.J.’s rescue, the two retire to Wick’s mountain home, where J.J. recovers from physical injury while attempting to help Wick recover from his emotional ones. But neither is out of harm’s way yet. And when they find themselves in the center of a Dragonkind war, they are forced to make the ultimate choice between surrendering to their fears or each other’s love.

I have read the entire Dragonfury series and I liked this book the best of all, although the short story Fury of Fate was exceptional (one of the best short stories I've read in a very long time, regardless of genre). I think Fury of Desire is well written, has a good story line that keeps expanding and making me wish she would write more Dragonfury books. Please Ms. Callahan! I'm dying to know what happens with the Metallics and the Archguard... and what about Scotland? Keep in mind this is not a Pulitzer Prize winner I had to slog my way through so I could tell my friends I read it. (I hope the author doesn't find this comment to be a slur, it was not meant that way.) I slogged my way through a lot of books in college, now I prefer to enjoy what I read without pretense. But wow have I read some just awful writing thanks to my Prime membership and Kindle Unlimited- someone needs to vet this stuff!! Seriously makes me question the difficulty of getting published. The Dragonfury series on the other hand is a very good read. I was thrilled to find it.

Highly recommend you read the other three books first, in order. You could read this as a stand alone, she's good at dropping hints and explaining things that happened in the previous books. But I think you get more out of the book having read the series in order. The book is a modern, urban setting- refreshing given all of the medieval period dragon romances. I personally really enjoy the characters, I find the guys funny, bordering on hilarious, charming and very... manly. The women are all right but let's face it, I don't read PNR for the chicks. Although I do like JJ, her character is a bit underdeveloped (I bet the author knows we don't read these for the chicks either). She uses military-styled language and terms, the usage is spot on (never read a series before that actually used H&K or Sig). I think it adds to the flavor of the story and it's characters.

I liked the series so much I've read it multiple times (yep the whole thing) just hoping she'll write another one.

Fury of Desire turned out to be my favorite of the series so far. The emotionally damaged dragon shifter, Wick, starts out such a mess that he can barely feed - the trauma from a childhood of slavery and torture have left him unable to bear to be touched. All though he is incredibly antisocial, even with his Dragon brethren, he is fiercely loyal. And even though he sees himself as an irredeemable killer, he has hidden depths and an artist's soul. But it is his loyalty and honor, which make him feel that he has a debt to repay and to that end he is determined to rescue JJ, the sister to a mate of one of his comrades. JJ has her own scarred past and little does Wick release that fate has found him a kindred spirit, one he feels unworthy to claim - but one he cannot resist.

I always have an bit of an issue with this series due to the BDBspeak (black dagger brotherhood), so it takes me a bit to get past that and get into the story, but the vulnerability of these two damaged souls and JJ's willingness to go after what she wants despite her fears - and to get Wick to accept that even though he feels she deserves more than he can give than he should just try to be what she deserves - really made the story for me.

There are some interesting things going on in the background ARC (and some horrible ones too - the villains are just so black hat evil) and add in some male bonding moments from the rest of Wick's brother dragons to round things out and I am looking forward to the next book.

Ah, this one was much better than the previous books. The romance was sweeter with Wick’s (aka Zsadist from BDB) turn to find his mate and with Jamieson injured and in a cast, she wasn’t going to leave the lair for self-centred reasons and put everyone else in danger. (Myst and Tania in books 1 and 3).
Also, the theme of the series has taken an intriguing turn with the links to Prague, so much so that I couldn’t put the book down at times, I needed to see what happened next.
I still have issues with the series -why have the magic portal to keep the enemy out of the lair when they can go around the back and walk in the French doors?
Why take severely injured dragons and mates through the portal when they can go around the back?
What do the humans think when their buildings etc are trashed during a fight between cloaked dragons - are they all stupid?
Why don’t the dragons use mobile phones to communicate with their Metallics in Prague or anywhere else for that matter?
Too many unanswered questions.

This must be the most captivating book so far. All the previous books were captivating but this one had more action and the main couple was so much better.

JJ, Tania's sister is in the hospital after being brutally assaulted in prison. Wick, the most dangerous Nightfury wants to get her from there and prison, in retribution to Mac's helping his friend Venom. When getting her from the hospital, the Nightfuries, meet a new and intriguing character, dragonkin too, that is trying also to get JJ out of the hospital. From here the action is non-stop until the end of the book.

We also get to see a little more of what's going on at Prague; unfortunatelly, it was very little and that part ends with a cliffhanger that's killing me!

JJ and Wick are 2 very damaged people, they don't trust easily, but the attraction between them is so strong and irresistable making this the most sweet and perfect couple.

Fury of Seduction (Dragonfury Book 3)

Successful landscape designer Tania Solares prides herself on living by her own terms, relying on no man to provide for her. But her carefully controlled life takes a turn for the extraordinary when her inquiry into the disappearance of her best friend thrusts her between two warring factions of dragon shifters. Suddenly Tania’s survival depends on Mac, a newly initiated dragon warrior who will break every rule to keep her safe.

Now that Tania knows the truth about Dragonkind, returning to her old life is too grave a risk. Ivar, leader of the Razorbacks, plots to decimate the human race, and Tania is just the tool he needs. Despite the danger, Mac cannot deny her a choice: Trade the independence she’s fought so hard to achieve for safety in a magical world, or turn her back on the man she’s grown to love in order to reclaim a freedom that might not last? It is an impossible choice. And yet a sacrifice must be made

Fury of Seduction is the third book in the Dragonfury series. I have fallen in love with these dragons and the world they live in.

The Nightfury, a pack of dragonkind, very alpha males. Protectors of humankind. They need human females to feed them. And carry their sons. Females are tuned into the Meridian. A pure power source that the dragonkind need to heal and stay healthy. Each female connects to the Meridian in their own way. Some are very low power, but the most sought after ones, are the high power females.

There are a lot of things going on in this book. Almost too much to keep track of.

Mac, a former SPD detective, and newly transitioned water dragon, and the woman he can't get off of his mind, Tania. Tania is Myst's (From Fury of Fire) best friend. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time, put her right in the forefront of Mac's radar. Without either of them knowing it. Tania was the first female Mac fed from during his transition. Her mind was scrubbed so she wouldn't remember the event. And Mac's transition into dragonkind was so traumatic, he doesn't remember what happened between the two of them. All they know is they are drawn to each other. And when her life is put in danger by the Razorback pack, rogues who hate all things human. That puts Mac on the fast track to finding her and keeping her safe. At any cost.

Ivar, the leader of the Razorbacks. He's still mourning the loss of his second in command at the hand of the Nightfuries. Afraid to tell the XO's sire for fear of loosing his funding. Funding for a special breeding program. Ivar has been collecting high energy females to use as breeders for his experiments. He wants to breed the first females of their kind. Doing away with the need to feed from human females. But his funding comes from the highest and most powerful source. Rodin, the head of the Archguard high council.

Rodin has been secretly funding Ivar's lab and his experiments for years. Something that would set the dragonkind world on its ear if it was known. .Rodin is a cruel man. Strung out on his powerful position, and very full of himself. Not afraid to partake in all sorts of illegal activities as entertainment for his closest allies. But unbeknownst to Rodin, There is soon to be a fly in his ointment. A junior member of the council, Nian wants his job.

Nian is the newest member of the dragonkind high council. He is very aware of the kind of man Rodin is. And he wants to be the one to relieve him of his title. But to do that he needs friends. And the ones he's chosen are not going to be easy to win over. The Nightfury pack. Nian's sire is responsible for the death of the Nightfury leader, Bastian's sires death. But now he's hoping to make him a useful ally, by becoming the spy Bastian and his men need to take down Ivar.

We also meet for the first time the last two Nighfury males. Gage and Haider. The two "Metallics". liquid metal breathers. They have been dispatched to Prague as representatives of the Nightfury pack for the Archguard festival.

And then there is the introduction of yet another dragon. Mac has been told being a water dragon, he is one of a kind. Until Ivar recruits the only other known water dragon to come to the states and work on his side, to get rid of Mac. Water is somewhere most dragons do not want to be. So having one that can use water to hide in or as a weapon, is not something Ivar wants.

Tania is also worried about her younger sister, J.J. J.J. is serving fifteen years in prison for manslaughter. She killed her abusive boyfriend. And the boyfriend just happened to be the brother of a cop. So she was convicted and sent away. But after five years, she is now up for parole. If only she can keep her nose clean and stay out of trouble.

Like I said, lots going on in this book. So much that the romance between Mac and Tania is kind of put off to the side. And rushed a bit more than it was in the other stories.

But over all I still love this series. A very unique take on the dragon universe. I love that each dragon is different. Not only in the way they look but in their abilities. Some are fire breathers, some breath acid, gas, a napalm like substance, Rikar is the last known frost dragon, and Bastian is more of a dragon taser. Very cool.

This is the third book in the Dragonfury Series. I loved it!

Mac McCord is the newest member of the Dragonfury pack. An ex-cop, his transformation began in Fury of Ice, after tangling with the magical blast of a Razorback. I liked this tough character. He is almost like an unsteady pup (albeit a dangerous one!) as he adjusts to his new life. He is a rare water dragon, but being new, his magic is raw and untrained, which chafes at this warrior's pride.

Tania Solares is a landscape designer, and best friend to Myst Munroe. I liked her "take no prisoners" attitude with trying to find out about the disappearance of her friend, but her feisty nature puts her on the Razorbacks' radar.

I don't know what magic these sexy dragons have over me, but these books seem to be getting better and better! The story is completely page turning! I must admit that I had to get this in audio too, because I just HAD to know how things were unfolding, especially when I had to do chores and couldn't read my Kindle whilst doing them! Mind you, it could be the narrators voice that got me too! Benjamin L. Darcie's dulcet tones brought the characters to life! It was nice to meet all the characters again, and to be introduced to new ones like Tania's sister, JJ. Although, there is one character that I could have done without - Ivar. The leader of the Razorback's is a cruel psycho, with a mad scientist vibe that made shivers run up my back!
We are also introduced to Nian, a dragon in the Archguard's High Council. He is new to his position, but disgusted with the current leader of the Council, and is looking to replace him. His story could be rather intriguing!
This story is full of action, danger and romance that has captured my imagination, and made me wish that these dragon warriors were really alive! The battle scenes were described extremely vividly and I could "see" them with ease! I cannot wait to read Fury of Desire and to get to know Wick and JJ better!

Coreene Callahan has written another fantastic paranormal romance. She is fast becoming one of my favourite authors to read. Her books are fast paced and flowed beautifully!

Due to the use of bad language and the explicit sexual scenes, I do not recommend this book for younger readers. However, I highly recommend this book if you love erotic paranormal romances or books with sexy dragon shifters! - Lynn Worton

Finally!! I have been able to sit down and enjoy this book. Let me tell you it has been an extremely difficult week. I had this book on my kindle and needed to finish other things.. as this is not in my reading nature, seeing this book sitting there and teasing me was not fun.. but oh was it worth it!

Coreene Callahan strikes hard and fast in the third installment of her DragonFury Series.. The world is opening up and there is just so much going on, total reader stimulation. This was one of those books where the story arc carries the book rather than the lead couple. While I tend to get irked about this in this case Ms Callahan did a brilliant job. Maybe because she did it earlier in the series or maybe because she used characters that we had not completely bonded with yet.. who knows? Yes Mac and Tania's story was intermixed with some serious plot twists and turns, Coreene still managed to make them steam...

Mac, tall, built and serious attitude! As a cop, as a man he was determined to serve, years as a Navy Seal led him to years on the Seattle Police Force but as good as he was at serving justice he didn't quite get the whole people and relationships thing. Until Angela, he was never able to stay with a partner. He was too tough, too rough, too everything.. As for women, he loves em, all of them. Where some have a women in every port.. Our Mac, well he had a flavor of the moment.. When Angela went missing, his sister of the heart, his partner and yes the only woman he took seriously, he was almost destroyed. But an instant in time, a moment shared space with a Dragon and his Dragon DNA was unleashed and Mac starts to find out just a bit more about himself than he was even remotely aware of. This we discover in Fury of Fire and Fury of Ice, the first two books of the Dragonfury series.. What we discover about Mac in Fury of Seduction.. well let's just say Mac Smolders.. Total and complete swoon room material.

Tania Solares is a complicated woman. Years of male abandonment and misuse, she doesn't trust men. She is smart, sexy, loyal and determined.. what a package.. Oh yeah and she is a High Energy (H-E) Female. So that puts her in line for some serious trouble. Since the disappearance of Myst, her best friend, she has been actively searching. Determined to find her, refusing to believe she is dead. Tania had relied on the SPD.. only problem is, the Detectives on the case were Mac and Angela and they too have disappeared.. Leaving Tania desperate.. Add to this the fact that her sister (the sister Tania all but raised) is in prison for manslaughter, Tania is at wits end.

When Mac and Tania meet, let's just say fireworks ensued! These two are combustible (pretty nifty for a Water Dragon). Ms Callahan does a wonderful job at sharing bits and pieces of their relationship with us. Sure she could have made this the focal part of the book, but in a way letting it slip to a secondary aspect made it steamier. Tania is a driven woman who controls everything and Mac well let's just say he demands control sexually. *grins* Watching these two commitment phobes slide into love was fabulous.

Remember when I mentioned the Archguard in my review of Fury of Ice? Remember when I said they were up to something sneaky? That there was way more to them than we thought.. Let's just say.. I was right and leave it at that! Anything else would be huge spoilers. We do spend a moment with those who are at the "Archguard Games". We get to meet Gage and Haider, the missing Dragonfury pack members and they most definitely belong. There is a scene I am already envisioning when Gage returns and meets Tania.. *grins* that should be fun.

One of the best things about Ms Callahan's writing is the fact that even though Ivar is evil and I believe totally nonredeemable.. we feel for him. We see him grieve and there were times when I just wanted to comfort him. I don't like Ivar, we aren't supposed to be we see a man/dragon that wants what he thinks is best for his people. This is a true talent!

We also learn a bit and I mean a teeny tiny bit about waterdragons.. I have some questions, some things I want to discuss about Mac and his lineage but for now I will refrain as they include spoilers but I am intrigued. This book left me with so many questions.. So many threads dangling, teasing me, leaving me almost salivating for the next book, Fury of Desire, which I believe comes out in the Spring and will be Wick's book. Now that is gonna be interesting.

When a book grabs me as much as this one did, I tend to loose my ability to review.. I get lost in the superlatives and sometimes forget why I am reviewing. I am sorry if this happened but this book was fabulous.. absolutely and totally fabulous! A must read.. but don't read it as book one.. it is definitely a transition type of book.. connecting us with old favorites and yet introducing some exciting new characters.. Watching all of Ms Callahan's plot lines begin to intersect is a total and complete delight
