Final Thoughts

When you finish one book series, have you ever just sat back and struggled to decide what to read next? I found myself in that situation recently and started thinking about “Go To” series.

Paranormal – If I just want a paranormal series, not worrying about anything magical, I’m likely to pull out Heather Long’s Wolves of Willow Bend series. Lots of intrigue, romance and action. For the most part, the heat level is acceptable without straying into areas I’d rather not have my boss know about.

Magical Paranormal – This is where I would put Coreene Callahan’s Dragonfury series. Each of the guys has a different magical gift that they use daily in their battles. Again, clean enough for work.

Paranormal Domestic Discipline – Anything, and I do mean anything by Delta James will work here. I love reading these or listening to them! Not safe for work.

Not Safe For Work Emily Tilton tops my list in this department. She has a number of different series going, plus ones that seem to be complete. Among these are three that echo each other.

So there you have it, my “Go To” series. Sorry this is late getting out!

Book Reviews from Last Week

Cupcake Kisses & Dragon Dreams by Julia Mills
Sassy in Diapers by Milly Taiden

Try, just try, not to bust out laughing at this one!

Fury of Fire by Coreene Callahan

One of the many reasons I like this series is how well each book flows into the next. And yes, many reviewers will complain about the similarity to Black Dagger Brotherhood. You know what? It’s not the destination that counts, it’s the journey along the way.

Scrooge Me Hard by Milly Taiden
Finch by Piper Scott and Virginia Kelly

Okay, I don’t think the authors meant this series to be a comedy, but try to keep your reaction to smiles, not giggles!

Final Thoughts

Friday morning as I was checking my email, I noticed a warning from my system that it needed to reboot in order to install an update. I finished my email and decided to go ahead and install the update. I got it started and got up to get more coffee.

When I turned back around, there was an error message on the screen! Somehow, don’t ask me how, my system had an error that kept it from rebooting. Great, just great! Not exactly what I wanted to see.

Luckily, I save everything to the cloud as well as my pc so I was covered there. Just a month or so ago, I created a recovery drive on a USB flash drive. Good thing I did, because I had to reinstall the entire operating system. RATS!

Once the system was back up, I had the fun of picking and choosing what programs to reinstall. Thankfully, I did have my email password saved somewhere safe.

Morale of the story? If you haven’t created a recovery drive yet, consider doing so. Since mine had been recently created, I only had one update that needed to be installed. I will probably recreate the drive again in a month or so, that way I won’t have a bunch of updates to deal with!

Scrooge Me Hard: Paranormal Dating Agency #9.5

Aurelis Fuentes wants one thing: Children. She’d also like for people to stop complaining about the amount of frosting on her cupcakes but that’s another story. When her scrooge of an ex comes back into her life, she’s not sure what to think.

Reed Stone wants one thing: His mate back. He made a mistake but he’s a changed man. In the spirit of Christmas, he’s hoping she takes a chance and forgives him or at least allow him to explain without throwing things at him.

Gerri Wilder is at it again, only this time she’s got the help of some of our previous couples. Catch up with Tally, Nita, Maya, Alyssa and their men while they try to help Auri and Reed find their way back to each other. This is one holiday they won’t soon forget.

In the spirit of the season what better way to enjoy it than reading a Christmas story. But this is no ordinary Christmas story. This holiday short story involves hot alpha males and their strong sensual women who make them crazy. Scrooge Me Hard by Milly Taiden gives us a peek back at the other couples that Gerri Wilder of the Paranormal Dating Agency has help to put together in the past and also gives us a beautiful Christmas tale of love lost and found again with Aurelis and Reed’s story.

Aurelis has finally found her niche as a baker and has a somewhat thriving shop in town. However, she is haunted by the past, by a man who swept her away so many Christmases ago, her true mate. Reed has been running since he left town years ago. Coming back to town a changed man, he’s ready to claim his mate once again if she’ll let in.

In the spirit of the season can Reed help Aurelis change her mind? Can he make her see that he was wrong and wants another chance? Will Aurelis forgive Reed and give their love another try?

Read this short story to find out. It’s just as exciting as Ms. Taiden’s other books except with a Christmasy twist! Filled with beautifully created characters and a plot that twists and turns. It will keep you on the edge with each passing page until the very end. This is one to have in your library to enjoy every Christmas season.

Ms. Claus and Scrooge meet, realize they're mates, fall in love, get married, and then she gets blindsided by all the Scrooginess that oozes from her mate. Okay, so Aurelis, aka Auri, isn't really Ms. Clause, but she adores the Christmas season. Reed, really isn't Scrooge either, well on second thought, he does give off a heavily influenced Scrooge vibe. But he does have his reasons for his Bah Humbug attitude. Unfortunately, he never shared those reasons with Auri during their time together, nor did he share them with her at any point after their wedding, until she brings up spending Christmas with her family and he tells her he hates Christmas. *insert all of our gasps here* So Auri, protecting herself and hoping it'll be the push Reed needs, leaves him. Now we all have the sads because it backfired and five years later, they're still mated/married, but it's more of a technicality because there's been no peep from Reed in all that time.

Of course, it's time Reed makes an appearance and he does. He's not alone though. He has a mini-me, a little Reed replica that's around 5 years old. Oh man, wouldn't that be devastating to Auri? Especially considering part of her issue with him was he didn't want kids, yet he knew she did. You really feel the urge to reach through the book and throat punch him. But, thank goodness, he realizes how it looks and quickly lets Auri know that the little boy is his brother. Phew, crisis averted, Reed can live.

But it's a small world after all *there's an earworm for you LOL* because Geri, yes, that Geri, the matchmaking queen, knows Auri and has known Reed for years as her husband was Reed's mentor when he was younger. *whispers - Reed really needed a positive male role model in his life.*

Yes, I was fully onboard Team Auri and ready to dislike Reed...a lot. That changed once I got to know Reed's reasons. Oh the pain and heartache I felt for his history. His father, I refuse to call him Dad as he didn't deserve that title, was not a good man. He went from marriage to divorce to marriage to divorce, rinse and repeat. Reed doesn't have happy Christmas memories and now that his father has passed, he'll never get that closure that he needs. Yet, he can get it in other ways. He's building a solid relationship with his little brother, Gavin. Granted, Reed is more like a father figure to Gavin than an older brother, seeing as there's like thirty years age difference between them. Also, he can come clean with Auri and share his past with her, maybe recapture what they once had and move forward, together. He can show Auri what he's built in those five years, something that is from the heart and essentially encompasses both of the reasons Auri left him. *whistles innocently* Nope, that's all I'm saying on that. My lips are sealed because it's so much more awe inspiring to read it after you've fallen for the characters.

So where has Reed been for five years? Why did it take him so long to come back for Auri? Is he still all full of the humbug? Or is he now filled with joy for the holidays after essentially getting some slaps upside the head from the proverbial ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future? Can he convince Auri that he's changed, that he thought of her every day, missed her unbearably, and wanted to return to her sooner?

I do recommend reading this series in order as previous couples are mentioned in this story and because the series is full of great characters, stories, and HEAs. So off to one-click land for you. After you click all of the books, this one is #9.5 (book #10, Barefoot and Pregnant is now available for pre-order), you can rest your exhausted finger and get comfy with all the books you're about to fall in love with. Happy reading!

Short and sexy!! This is NOT a standalone! Auri owns a bakery and has become very successful. She's independent, curvy and proud of everything she's accomplished. It's nearly Christmas, one of her favorite times of the year, she should be happy with her life except for one problem... Reed Stone, her mate and husband who she hasn't seen or heard from in five years. Reed comes from money and has a successful business of his own, when he met Auri, he knew right away that she belonged to him. Their chemistry is off the charts and within a week, they are mated and married. Auri wants to start a family right away and Reed shuts her down immediately and leaves. Now Reed is back and determined to win Auri back and show her that he's a changed man. Five years is a long time, can he convince her that they're worth it? This book was great! We got to see the a little bit of what's been going on with the couples (and threesomes) in the previous PDA books and get a couple of hints on who might be next 🙂

Books Reviews From Last Week

Tangled in Tinsel by Julia Mills is another wonderful holiday story addition to her great Dragon Guard series.

The Mate Challenge by Milly Taiden is Emma and Mason’s story. This couple is so adorable that I had a hard time not laughing out loud.

Full-Bodied by Delta James is the latest addition to the Tangled Vines series. If you enjoy watching an Alpha doing everything he can to convince his Fated Mate to stay, this is right up your alley!

In The Roar by Milly Taiden is another romp set on a planet other than earth. Gerri Wilder is as funny as ever.

Swallow by Piper Scott and Virginia Kelly is another story studded with adorable Omega males and hot Alpha studs. Only this time, it’s the family patriarch of the Drake family, Grimbold, who finds his mate!

Final Thoughts

School starts soon for everyone. I don’t know about your school situation, but please consider the ages of your children. If they are old enough to be vaccinated, give serious thought to having that done. I know that children under 12 are not yet able to be vaccinated, but if you have teenagers in the house, do it. The children’s hospitals in my area are reporting record number of children with COVID.

What’s worse is that almost all of the adults testing positive for COVID are not vaccinated. Those folks greatly regret not getting the shots. A vaccination, at the very least, greatly reduces the severity of the disease should you still contract it. There is a big difference between simply being on Oxygen and being on a ventilator.

In the Roar: Paranormal Dating Agency #9

She raised her brows high. “If you get me a man who can make my knees buckle, I will skinny dip in the local pond.”
Gerri shook her head. “Don’t make promises you will hate keeping later.”

Alivia Vela is a big girl tired of dating. She’s at the point she’s going to find a frozen pop and get artificially inseminated. Or she would, until big, growly and oh, so sexy Karel shows up, saves the day and gives her a night she won’t soon forget. That, mouth…that tongue. Oh my.

Karel Yaghar needs a mate faster than he can growl the word MINE. He didn’t expect to meet the perfect woman for him and his jaguar only moments after arriving on earth. Now all Karel needs is for her to come with him to another planet. That should go over well. If she doesn’t decide he’s crazy instead, which is highly likely.

Liv is a true born hard-head, she’s gonna need more than pink sand to prove she’s on another planet. Where are the flying saucers? Then there’s the issue of convincing herself she’s not falling for the big kitty. If only her ovaries weren’t in agreement with her brain that Karel should be her future baby daddy, she might find the will to stay away from his sexiness. While she tries to figure that out, she and Karel will have to work together to take down an unexpected threat.

The Reviews!

Karel and Liv are a fantastic couple. Gerri Wilder is something you just have to experience to believe! I’m looking forward to reading more of her exploits.

Smoking hot read!!! Karel needs a mate ASAP, his mother is dying and wants to see him mate before she goes. He begs Gerri to help him find his mate and decides to go to her rather then wait for her to come to Nova Aurora. Once on Earth, Karel immediately meets Liv and knows he has found his mate. Liv is a curvy woman who loves herself but has always been treated like she is less just because she is bigger. She wants to find a man who will love her and give her the children she desperately wants but has had such terrible luck with men, she's willing to be artificially inseminated to get pregnant. A chance meeting with Gerri leads to meeting Karel and sparks don't just fly, they explode. Karel convinces Liv to go to Nova Aurora with him to meet his dying mother and to stay with him to give him a chance to show her that they are meant to be together. Things aren't all what they seem as Liv helps to uncover a murderous plot being carried out by a traitor from the castle. The Paranormal Dating Agency series is one of the best series out there!! They are sexy, funny, and who doesn't love a shifter who loves curvy women?! I can't wait to read Cassie's story and see who Gerri pairs her up with!

Note: All the books in this series are quick reads with very little plot and an insta-match. They are great if your looking for a little steam and some sexy shifters for an afternoon break.

This PDA series has become one of my favorites that I look forward too. I need something every now and then that does not have a deep plot, that I can just sit back enjoy the short and sweet times.

Karel and Alivia where great together. I really enjoyed that Karel did not pressure Alivia, giving her the time she needed to let her head catch up with her heart. I also love that we got to return to alien plant that the shifters live on. This one was a little different then the previous PDA books in that Karel did not do anything stupid to get his women upset with him. We also got a little action, trickery, and mystery with our plot in that a bad guy is trying to hurt a previous couple. Gerri is still as fun as every with her matchmaking skills and I can’t forget the hot and steamy sex… oh boy!

The only thing that I am getting a little tired of is the BBW angle. Yes, I know this is a BBW series. It just seems that the author is putting to much emphasis on how the heroine's look and how they are mistreated over the years because of it. I don’t mind reading stories with heroine's like this, but the emphasis is getting to over powering and I’m starting to not like how much her body image is talked about. I do love the possessiveness of the hero’s and how they love their full-figured woman.

In the Roar was a fun read from begging to end. I feel in love from the first to the last page and can’t wait for the next installment to hit the bookstores.

Well hot damn, what can I say? This books was absolutely fantastic!

We taken on a journey as a shifter instantly connects with a human, his mate. The human gets taken to a alien planet to interact with his world and from there so much happens. After being belittled by other humans for her weight and looks she expects everyone to be like that, shifters included but she soon realises they’re not.

Reading about the torment the main character gets for the way she looks and her weight is heartbreaking but she loves how she looks and it’s absolutely beautiful.

I haven’t read many paranormal books but it’s always a treat when I do especially with this one. A Jaguar shifter is definitely new for me, I loved how fiercely protective shifters are of their mates. It’s been fun reading this novella. It’s my first book from this author and I’m glad I chose this book.

Final Thoughts

The Twisted Tail Pack series is at an end for now. This led to me considering what series to tackle next. Yes, I could have tackled another series set either in the Paranormal Dating Agency world or the Sassy Mates world. Doing that would have been a bit of an overkill.

Then a book popped up on my screen, Fury of Conviction by Coreene Callahan. Oh My! A few years ago, I’d read the original Dragonfury series and enjoyed it. However, I always wondered about the other members of the pack and did they ever meet their mates. Fury of Conviction is the second novella in a spin-off series. The first one featured Ivar. This one features Hamersveld. Wow!

Now, to be fair there is also a second series about the Scottish pack. In searching for information about the books, I discovered that Coreene is returning to the original pack!!! So, while I wait (impatiently), I want to review as many of the previous ones as possible!

Scaling Her Dragon: Paranormal Dating Agency #8

“That’s right. The men who use my services prefer big, beautiful, bold, confident women,” Gerri replied. “I understand not all women will be confident with their bodies, especially with the fiasco that is society on Earth. But having some love for their curves is a must.”

Plus-size Rebecca is on a jaunt to another world. She had hopes of finding herself a nice, sweet shifter like her sister, but somehow she ended up attracted to the big, fiery dragon. A dragon who isn’t looking for love. If only he didn’t have eyes that made her want to take her panties off and a body that sent her hormones into a frenzy, life would be a lot easier.

Vikter Dragos is dying. His dragon couldn’t find a mate and he’s at the end of his time. He’s fighting the attraction for a sassy, curvy human, but it’s near impossible to stay away from her. If only she’d been his mate, everything would be smoother. He’s losing control of his dragon and his emotions. With Becca around, he didn’t know what to expect.

Becca’s in constant confusion over Vikter’s hot and cold attitude. One moment he’s kissing her like the world’s going to end, and the next he’s warning her away from getting attached. Figuring out how to scale this dragon might take more patience than she’s got. When competition arises and Vikter sees another wants Becca, he’ll face his feelings or risk losing her forever.

The Reviews!

These two were such a hoot to read about! I try very hard not to laugh while reading because that draws my hubby’s attention. But these two were an absolute joy to read. I’m looking forward to more!

Another fantastic PDA book by Milly Taiden! Scortching hot, well this is a dragon we are talking about, so be sure water is available. It is a stand alone with a HEA. However, you may want to slap a stubborn butt dragon before the end of the book. Vikter is dying after not being able to find his true mate. His dragon is retreating and severing the communication to Vikter. Becca is a human who loves dragons, she is full of passion and speaks her mind.
Vikter is hot and cold when it comes to Becca, and they skirt around each other. Becca is mad due to Vikter's attitude but is still drawn to him. One day she ses a golden dragon and pets it. Rubs her hands all over the dragon, this may be what really wakes Vikter's dragon and the man up.
When these two do get together the results are explosive! Beware: this book is hot, steamy, and full of attitude.

Becca is a curvy girl. Viktor is a growly shifter. Gerri is a match maker. Razzy is a teen worried about her brother. What could go wrong?

Did I mention Viktor is a royal dragon shifter? And dragon shifters have to find a mate or lose their dragon, the other half of themselves? And they only have so long to find and mark their One? Viktor is losing his connection with his dragon and is worried he won't find his One before it's too late.

Becca isn't looking for a relationship. She is excited to visit a different planet. A planet full of shifters. Her travel partner, the ever relentless matchmaker Gerri, has other plans for Becca.

This story is another great addition to the PDA series. Each book is a standalone, but you can't read just one! Whether this is your first PDA book, or your 8th, you will love this book. If this is your first, go read the other 7! You will thank me later.

Vikter, a dragon shifter, desperately needs to find his mate. It's literally a life or death situation. Knowing he needs to connect with his to give his dragon a reason to live, he's contacted Gerri, matchmaker extraordinaire, but has resigned himself to his fate.

Rebecca (Becca) feels like she's in another world. Oh wait, she is. The room she's given in the palace changes colors and decorated itself. While that's a pretty cool trick, it's a little freaky. But it did get her love of dragons correct. Now maybe she'll have the same luck with Gerri finding the perfect man for her.

“Oh, honey. You have no idea what’s in store for you.” - Gerri to Becca

Vikter knows his family and friends are worried, noticing his appearance and surly attitude. When Brecc implores him again to visit him, Eros, and Charlotte, Vikter agrees, though he knows he won't be pleasant company. He likes Charlotte and envies how happy his friends are with their mate.

Becca is visiting her sister, Charlotte, and meeting her mates. Nope, not a typo. Plural. Lucky girl, right? When Charlotte needs to leave with her mates to visit Brecc's sister, Becca entertains herself and changes her life at the same time.

Vikter would do anything for his little sister, Razzy, so he agrees to the ball, knowing it makes her feel closer to their mom, having lost her, and Razzy is worried about him. He wants to give her this memory before he's gone. But when he meets Razzy's new friend, Becca, he suddenly feels hope, as well as thankful for Razzy's clever introduction.

Will Vikter take a chance? Even though he desires Becca, why is he pushing her away? Isn't Becca his mate? If so, and she can save him, why is he warning her not to get attached? Does he not want to be with her? Becca feels the connection between her and Vikter, but can she handle his sudden hot and cold attitude changes? Will Vikter and Becca get their HEA?

At this point in time, anyone older than 12 years old is eligible to receive the vaccine. Please, if you haven’t already been vaccinated, take a look at your family and ask yourself if you really want to jeopardize their health?

This is Noah and Maya's story . Noah has met his mate but can do nothing since she has a boyfriend and he will not make her unhappy by butting in . Maya is fed up with her stalker ex . When she leaves her phone in the lobby and goes to get it she meets Gerri and for reasons she is unsure of when asked about herself she opens up totally . Gerri tells her she can find her perfect match if she will just allow her too. Maya figures why not and ends up going to a meet and greet party there she runs into her neighbor Noah who when he finds out she is single knows he will not allow her to get away from him . This was a short, sweet, sexy and fun read. I highly recommend it.

Noah is very sweet and an excellent book boyfriend. He melted my heart with his shy and kind ways. Maya was funny, sensitive, and has a terrible habit of dating idiots. I greatly enjoyed both characters and their portions of the book. The parts with Jerri are always fun and I laughed more then a few times. Maya's family.. ouch.. but I like the way it ended.

Overall this is another great addition to this series. Lots of fun and a couple HOT times with plenty of laugh out loud parts.

I am really enjoying all the books in the Paranormal Dating Agency series and this book was no exception.

Maya is a BBW who is told by her family and boyfriend that just because she’s big she should settle for whatever behaviour her partner throws at her and they don’t understand why she refuses to let that be her life. The fact that her skinny, beautiful sister is in a relationship where she has to work out all the time and turn herself into a pretzel to make sure he stays happy with her seems to not be an issue even though by the standards they push at Maya, her sister could have any man she wants. Luckily Maya has learnt through many harsh lessons to be happy with herself so when offered the opportunity to get a date through the Paranormal Dating Agency she decides to take the plunge. Noah has been in lust/love with Maya since she moved into his building but he thinks she’s still in a relationship so doesn’t approach her for anything. When he is set up by his aunt on a date and finds out its Maya he doesn’t waste any time in proving to her that he sees and appreciates her and he is just fabulous. The only problem with this story is that it just wasn’t enough! Looking forward to the next book.

Love this series plus a Milly fan. Loved this story. I really liked Maya a lot. She was funny as hell. Quirky and beautiful. Noah has been a creepy watcher of Maya since he purchased the building. He's rich and a loaner and keeps to himself and has had a thing for her but never talks to her much. He can see everything she does in her apartment through her blinds. Ok...that was the creep factor for me lol. Thats ok though cause he's in love with her and somehow thinks she's taken. He's hotter than hell and talks so dirty to her at this ball that Ms. Wilder throws. LOL. Naughty! They both reluctantly agree to do this one date that Ms. Wilder sets up. Neither knowing its the other. Noah couldn't be happier. Maya is unsure but goes with it but then freaks a little because she has a problem with accepting he'd want someone like her and her crazy weird ex keeps hounding her. Needless to say after much coaxing she realizes she loves Noah. Great story and can't wait to see who Ms. Wilder hires to help her out with her work load! Yay!
