Good wrap to the series, lots of great stuff happening. However, it felt off to have a clan of Tigers in New Orleans and not make any mention of the wolf pack led by Jean-Michael Gautier. I really expected to see something happen between the two.

The Reluctant Retiree

After being fired as a reporter in New York City, Quinn took advantage of a bequest from a relative and moved to New Orleans, trying to figure out what to do next. When one of the local papers gives her a chance, she makes the best of it, quickly becoming the Gazette’s rising star. Working with an informant, she sets her sights on a notorious Cartel.

Bodie is the head of the syndicate that controls the Crescent City. He wants to stop the Cartel from using the Port of New Orleans to import its new, deadly designer drug and using the Mississippi River to disburse it to the rest of the country.

Once he realized she was his fated mate, nothing would stop him from claiming her. After a not-so-chance encounter during Mardi Gras, Quinn finds herself bonded to the notorious gangster.

The story is the third and final story of a new Syndicate Masters--Midwest series which will bring Quinn Forrester, and Bodie Lambeau together. Quinn is an investigative reporter, originally from New York, who is now working for the New Orleans Gazette. It is Mardi Gras time in New Orleans and she is attending a party on a steamboat where she will have an encounter with Bodie Lambeau.

The story is like a Cinderella tale, where Quinn will be pampered and taken to the party, meet Bodie, and is seduced by him, they leave and return to his home for a night of passion. But Quinn only wanted a night—and Bodie knows she is his fated mate. Let the fireworks begin!

I really like Bodie and Quinn together. I like that he doesn’t dismiss her passion as an investigative reporter, but instead, takes her seriously, with the information she shares with him. But, as an alpha male, he is determined to keep his mate safe or let’s say, at least he tries to. The chemistry between them is explosive. I enjoyed the ingenuity of Quinn to do some of the things she does. Best of all, the epilogue gives closure, not only on them, but the previous two stories in this series.

Bodie and Quinn's book can easily be read as a stand-alone. This story seemed to speed by for me. There were so many things I wish had been more detailed in the book, but I have always admitted to being a greedy reader.

The demise of Quinn's New York career didn't seem above board. It felt like there was more to it. I wanted someone to pay for what happened to her, lol.

I did enjoy the Cinderella aspect to the Mardi Grad ball. I wish there had been more detail or interaction in that scenario.

I wanted to know what happened to obnoxious Dave. It would have been great to see his reaction to Quinn's news.

Was Gutierrez ever made aware of what was going on? I enjoyed the book but I have to be honest. It did nothing to slake my need for vengeance, lol. I wanted Gutierrez to have ALL of the details and see his reaction.

Bodie's pursuit of Quinn took much less time than I anticipated. The attraction was fast. The romantic gesture surprising and sweet. The outcome intense and steamy. The relationship fiery and explosive. With all of that said, Bodie and Quinn did end up with their HEA.

I am sorry to see this series end. I would have loved to see more interaction between the syndicate masters together along with their fated mates.

Nothing is more satisfying than relaxing while reading a shifter story by Ms. James.
This cracker of a story was fast-paced, action-packed, and had a solid storyline. The
characters were well-developed and realistic despite their paranormal abilities.

Jace was progressive in his attitude to his mate. Their link was established before they
met. A powerful Panther shifter and alpha to his clan. Head of the Carlos syndicate. He
connected with Lauren through Dreamtime on an astral level. He was content with the
knowledge that he would recognize his fated mate on sight and did not actively seek her
out. Once Jace found Lauren and her vixens, he offer them the protection of his clan.

Jace plagued Lauren’s dreams. His presence soothed her and left her feeling content.
Lauren and her small group of vixens turned to stealing to gain independence. This put her in the firing line of the Albanian mob. Keeping them safe took its toll. I feel that Lauren danced on a fine edge of fear and vulnerability, and was happy to hand the
responsibility over to Jace.

I loved this story with its larger-than-life characters. I liked the twist and turns that kept me glued to the pages. Entertaining from start to finish.

While the story is part of the Syndicate Masters: Eastern Seaboard, it will read as a stand-alone story. The story was set up at the end of High Stakes and I was fascinated with what little teaser was shared. The story did not disappoint this reader. I loved the characters and their interactions. I loved how Jace and Lauren had a deep connection before they met—even if it began in the dream world. The role that Lauren acquired as Alpha of a rogue band of vixens was never her intent, but she took her responsibilities seriously and did the best she could.

“You can’t hide forever little one. The link between us is growing stronger, and in the end, it will lead me to you.”

The story is full of mystery, suspense, danger, intrigue, and yes, definitely romance. I love the chemistry between Jace and Lauren and really hated to see their story end. The story has the good, the bad, and the evil in people and shifters. But, gladly, those who deserve retribution for their evil ways will find it in the end. Jace never really forces Lauren to accept his claim of fated mates—because they had shared on a higher plain with their erotic shared dreams. I think she was shocked to actually find him in person, and running away, but that won’t stop him from finding her. Every girl needs a strong man in her corner—even if she doesn’t think she does. I think that with all the responsibilities and burdens of leading the other vixens, giving over control to Jace was liberating.

“Be careful what you wish for, little one. You have a deal.”

When Jace and his soldiers come to the aid of Lauren and her vixens, they are kind, with reasonable options and solutions. There was no force, only realistic acquisition of the girls.
Lauren: Do I have a choice?

Jace: You always have choices, Lauren. It’s just that today I’m the best choice out of what I’m sure you see as a lot of bad options.

“Make no mistake, Lauren, you belong to me—heart, mind, body, and soul.”

Lauren: You’re impossible.
Jace: I am alpha and your fated mate. The whole kit and kaboodle of you will mind me.
What happens when evil comes to destroy? Has Lauren’s determination to make a stand from her skulk become her downfall? What will Jace do—or his team?
Jace: Little one, are you all right?
Lauren: I am now.
Jace: Then let me get you home.
Lauren: I am home. The minute you put your arms around me, I was home.

The story does have an epilogue—and the end of it is a setup for another book—probably another series.

Great start to a new series!

This is such a wonderful starting story for a new series and group of shifters. Asher and Nicole are so good together. I truly enjoyed the references to both the Wayward Mates and Tangled Vines series. I’ve noticed in other stories that more than one heroine has been a writer. Lovely to see!

The story is the first in the new Mystic River Shifters. It will have a great cast of characters, including humans and shifters. The story will involve Nicole Sullivan, a human, and alpha wolf shifter, Asher Wells.

Nicole Sullivan has gone through a divorce, moved to Seattle, Washington, and opened a satellite office for event planning with her boss, Judith in San Francisco. Nicole has taken up many adventurous hobbies including kayaking and training for mountain climbing. She decides to travel to Kodiak Island, Alaska, to look at it as a destination for future events. While there, she plans to do a solo climb up Pyramid Mountain.

Asher Wells and his alpha father do not get along. Asher left his pack in Mystic River and went into the Navy, becoming a SEAL. Now, he is back and head of the U.S. Forest Rangers in Alaska. What a surprise to meet Nicole, and realize she is his fated mate, a human, and stubborn.

The story’s plot will have Asher and Nicole meeting, butting heads, having lunch, and then to his cabin where the night is spent in pleasure. Asher is hoping to convince Nicole to forego a solo climb, wait until he can join her, and keep her in his bed. Nicole needs to do this climb for herself, which she believes she can do. She isn’t figuring out the volatile weather that will strike while she is on the mountain. That will take this story into life-and-death danger. Asher is determined to save his mate, even if it is from herself.

Asher: Do you read a lot of romance novels?
Nicole: There’s nothing wrong with that.
Asher: Not at all. Just trying to learn about you, and what makes you tick; what turns you on.
Nicole: You. You turn me on.

The story has mystery, suspense, danger, and some surprises. I loved the story of Nicole and Asher. The chemistry between them sizzles off the pages. When they are together, it is as if fate ordained them to be together.

Nicole had discovered after walking in on her husband Kevin and his Bimbo girlfriend making use of her bed, her silk dressing gown and all of this whilst she was supporting him whilst he was taking the bar, she had been working non stop without so much as a thank-you.

Newly divorced she had decided to open a new branch with her boss after inputting a good deal of her divorce settlement and although it had taken hard work the event planning business had been a great success and life had been good.

She had also written a bucket list and had started to do more of the things she loved kayaking, white water rafting and also had been learning how to mountain climb and decided her first solo climb was going to be in Kodiak Alaska and she could not wait.

When she reached Mystic Falls and had visited the Ranger Station to discuss her climbing intentions she had met the chief ranger Asher and something had clicked, they had lunch together and he had shown her around the small town. Then they had spent the night together and it was as though they had always been together, Ashe’s love making had rocked her world and she felt as though they had known each other forever.

The climb is hard but is going well until on the decline the weather changes and taking all the steps taught to her she has one of her ropes bread and barely stops herself with her new ice pick but she had hurt her wrist and knew she had to use the emergency beacon to let the Rangers know she was in trouble.

Asher had known that his wolf was desperate to get to his mate and would do whatever it too to reach her no matter what it takes, the thought of a world without her in it was not worth contemplating.

It was fortunate that her love of shifter titles and the way in which mates were turned were her favourite read. She also loved Asher and even though she was human in her heart knew that there was something very special between them.

I guarantee that when you start reading this book you will not be able to put it down and you will be fascinated by the interactions between Asher and Ellis his Sire and Gemma his mother, they are so alike and both men constantly come to blows but his mother is a diamond.

Then there are the details behind Nicole’s rope that had failed on the climb and now it appears that perhaps someone may have been behind it but you will have to read this for yourself and I assure you that once you begin reading you will not stop until you reach the end.

I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

This is one of the best books I've read by Delta James. You can see the pride she takes in her growth as an author. The book is well written and the chemistry between Nicole and Asher is combustible. Nicole is a strong woman who knows what she wants and goes after it. Asher is dominant, but not overbearing. Their story is fun to read and there is a surprising twist at the end that I did not anticipate. Great job! I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Don't read this if you haven't read the prior 2 books. This wraps up a bunch of stuff and it completely overlaps the prior 2 stories.

Serena isn't looking for a man. She wants to exact revenge on the people that destroyed her family and killed her parents years ago. In order to fund her revenge, she runs a jewelry business that is just starting to gain some recognition and success. Aries is the head of the Lionheart Syndicate. He is stunned to discover that he has finally found is fated mate and she's human!

Right off the bat, you have to embrace with your whole self the idea that Serena is submissive and will just accept Aries as a dominant. Period. You have to just accept that they go from not knowing each other at all to love and devotion in an instant. Period. If you can't do that, don't read this.

Serena is the youngest Amato sister and often feels like her sisters treat her like a baby. During the course of the author doesn't really give Serena room to grow because the suggestion is that she is already strong. Aries is more of a sketch than an entire character. I was glad that his time in the military was included in his character development. The reader doesn't really see him interact with his people so there is no sense of how he leads other than he's not his father or uncle.

I felt like the author rushed one of the big conclusions of the story of the Amato sisters. Yay that they finally know who done them wrong all those years ago and everyone has paid for their crimes but it almost felt like an afterthought. I wanted the women to have their big BAM moment but instead, it was more of a reveal, reveal, reveal, and done moment. Another issue I had was that one of Aries' lieutenants really didn't like Serena at first. I wanted a moment of reckoning like her sisters got in their stories but all Serena got was the mention that the individual now likes her. Huh. Kind of lame in my opinion.

So why did I give this 4 stars if I wasn't really moved? Simply stated, I wanted the solution to the mystery of the Amato sisters and the readers get that. Period. This story takes place in Italy and the Carpathian mountains. It includes mention of and cameos by characters from prior books/other series but it's all related. I will read move from this author in the future because I have thoroughly enjoyed other books even if this one fell a little flat in my opinion.

The story is part of the Syndicate Masters: La Cosa Nostra series. The story will mainly focus on Serena Amato and Aries Borgia--the head of the Lionheart Syndicate. The story will include cameo appearances by other couples from previous stories in this series, and behind the scene appearances of those from the previous series.

The story has what we all come to know, love, and even expect within Ms. Delta James series, strong, dominant men and equally feisty females. You'll have power exchange, dominance, submission, control, and surrender. Secrets, mystery, suspense, good and evil, and shifters. I love the cat-and-mouse game between Aries and Serena--she thinks she can evade him, but she is definitely wrong.

Serena: I think it would be best if I joined my friends.

The second book in this series La Cosa Nostra is steamy and full of action. I’ve been on the lookout for the ARC to be available via Booksprout and when I saw it I jumped at the opportunity.

Raffi/Rafaella and Nico are paired for an invitation only event at Dante’s. Nico recognizes her as his fated mate and is determined to break all the rules to find out who his anonymous sub is and where to find her when she disappears from his bed.

Raffi is on a mission - well really 2 missions - get justice for herself and her sisters from the people who murdered her parents and the woman who profited from putting them is horrible circumstances within the foster system; and stay out of Nico Falconeri’s grasp and bed! She recognizes he is the perfect man/Dom for her, but she doesn’t think she has time for live right now.

Raffi takes Nico for a wild adventure as she hides from him and his efforts to uncover who she is and where to find her. I love how close he is to finding her the entire time, but he doesn’t put all the clues together.

I loved how she captained the rescue effort for bringing Nico home and how easily she took control over the clan, caused absolute havoc for the men, and won everyone’s affection and love. I am disappointed this time period (approximately a week) is only described as having happened versus actually having it happen on the page. The storyline jumps from the dangerous situation after leaving Milan, to Nico’s e rescue. It sounds like what happened during the week Raffi was in control was an absolutely amazing adventure!.

'Feral Oath' is the second book in Delta James' "Syndicate Masters: La Cosa Nostra" series and it's riveting. The story opens up with an event at Dante's BDSM club for a celebration to be attended by invitation only. As a matter of fact, it's a masked event where each Dom has been assigned a sub who has either already played with that Dom or specifically requested to play with him. That's when we meet Nico Falconeri, aka the Predator of Palermo, who is the Jaguar shifter from Sicily. Not only that but his sub for the evening is none other than Rafaella, aka Raffi, Amato, aka La Pantera. Sparks fly, chemistry sizzles, and the scenes are hot as blue blazes but Raffi has made a solemn vow to follow the trail of who killed their parents, had the three sisters separated, thrown into three different foster homes, and sold their family home and possessions. She knows there's some kind of connection between her and Nico but she has convinced herself she doesn't have time for a relationship of any kind until her vow is fulfilled. Nico, on the other hand, knows she is his fated mate and doesn't intend to let her go but after falling asleep with the intention of claiming her the next morning, he wakes to an empty bed. The hunt is on and he intends to find her. There are a lot of twists and turns in this one with some secrets being revealed. Both of these characters are strong, alpha personalities in their own right … combined they're almost magical. This is a great read and now I can't wait for 'Defiant Vow' to come out.

The story is another spin-off in the Syndicate Masters series and will take place in and around Italy. The story will have a special event at Dante’s where Nico Falconeri was one of the invited single Doms, and they are paired up with single submissives. The event was masked and confidential, which meant there was no way for either sub or Dom to be sure with whom they were playing.

“The club had gone to great extent to ensure that the sub was willing to meet the needs of the Dom to whom she’d been assigned.”

Lars and Rhys had a rocky start, with him staking his claim from the jump. Rhys slipped away from him having no knowledge of her new self. She's searching for justice and if the authorities won't help her, she'll use her feminine wiles on the local gangster. Of course Lars cannot let her go, bringing her kicking and screaming into the fold. She challenges him at every turn, earning herself some hard time over his lap. Sensual and steamy as any DJ novel. The plot with the painting was intricately woven into the love story and had a satisfying ending. A good read indeed.

“Judgment” is book three in the ‘Syndicate Masters: Northern Lights’ series by Delta James. Although it’s part of a series, it can be read and enjoy it as a standalone story. It’s a paranormal romance that unfolds differently from most stories with shifters.

Lars Jakobsson and Rhys Donovan meet at a BDSM club in London. They scene together in a private room, and it’s an intense experience for both of them. Unbeknownst to Rhys, Lars is a tiger shifter. He recognizes her as being his fated mate. She’s human, though. Instead of talking to her about the situation, Lars decides to claim her and bites the back of her neck, an act that begins the process of transitioning her into a shifter. He doesn’t get her consent to do so. Rhys has no idea what he’s done, or even that the bite was much deeper than rough play. They both fall asleep after their encounter come on and when he awakens, he discovers she’s left him. It's a big problem because they never even exchanged names, and she has no idea she’s going to become a tiger shifter. There are lots of surprises in this story. Plus, Rhys has a missing sister who was working undercover with Interpol investigating Lars and his syndicate. The sisters were supposed to meet in another city, but only Rhys showed up. Now, someone is targeting Rhys.

Lars is the head of a massive criminal syndicate, but it seems that he it’s the only one who can help protect Rhys figure out what has happened to her sister, and who is targeting her. There is intense chemistry between Lars and Rhys, with the strong D/s dynamic this author is known for creating in the intimate scenes between leading characters. There are good secondary character, including the villains. The mystery is a solid one, and the solving of it is entertaining.

Such a wonderful story, I love these characters. Granted, I thought Peyton caved into Joshua a little bit quickly, but that’s just me. I have to admit, I love the little clues you left as to the type of shifters the last book will feature. Don’t want to spoil the ending, but I didn’t see that coming!

The new series, Syndicate Masters, has the feel of Ms. Delta James' other unique series, with large cat shifters, but this one also mentions places you will read about in some of her other stories based in the UK area. 'The series will focus on four kingdoms—Ireland, Scotland, England, and Wales. Each area has a warlord that formed the Syndicate to restore all that had been lost.'

Joshua Knight is the head of the Tiamat Syndicate. While he has headquarters in London, his estate is in Devon and known as Arsalan. It had once been the ruins of a castle—but he purchased it and has brought it back to its glory—with some modernization. It set high atop a craggy cliff overlooking the city of Lion Head's Cove and the crashing sea. The name Arsalan is Muslim for lion or, more precisely, king of the jungle.

Peyton Cooper wanted answers, and since the paper refuses to give her assignment beyond fluff pieces, she has started her own in-depth look into the brutal death of an older prima ballerina, Dame Diana. When she talked with the paper, they insisted she give all her notes to a lead reporter. Now, she is going to confront Joshua Knight, a kingpin that she feels could be responsible. She enters the lion's den on her own, but she will be the one cornered before the day is over.

The story is a page-turning tale and a great addition to the series. Joshua Knight is a black lion shifter, and yes, he does have his illegal activities, but he is also a philanthropist. He also wants to know who killed Dame Diana but is shocked at how Peyton Cooper comes barging into his office. He'll have her escorted out, but as he leaves, he sees a red laser on her and saves her before the shot happens. She thinks someone was aiming for him, but he knows it was for her—but why. Now, Peyton is the 'guest' of Joshua at Arsalan. When a second near attack comes at his private home, he realizes that she is definitely the target.

"Yes, his mate had recognized her master, even if she'd yet to understand it."

Joshua: Do you have any idea who might have hired someone to kill you? The gunman was a professional with a sniper rifle and scope. You need to get that through your head. The sniper was there for you.

"The Yard has learned that it's best to follow my lead. In time, you will learn to do the same thing."

The story has the good, the bad, and the ugly. Joshua has known that Peyton was his mate since they were both members of Baker Street. She would never consent to scene with him, but he was bidding his time. He will keep her safe, even from herself and her foolishness. Why are the Bratva after her?

Joshua: Like with most things, people prefer the romantic illusion to the harsh reality.

“The Agreement” is the third book in the ‘Syndicate Masters’ series by Delta James. It’s a paranormal lion-shifter romance that combines elements of suspense, organized crime, and D/s in a story that has some unexpected twists and turns. It can definitely be read as a standalone.

Joshua is the king of the jungle that is London. He runs a vast network of legitimate and illegitimate businesses, provides employment and protection for hundreds of people, and is alpha to the lion-shifters of his pride. Peyton is a news reporter who always gets assigned the fluff pieces. She wants to be an investigative reporter and is determined to make that happen. After the brutal death of an aging ballerina, she’s convinced that Joshua had something to do with the murder, Peyton is determined to confront him and somehow get the truth about his involvement. Things get particularly complicated though, when it becomes apparent that somebody is trying to kill Peyton. Joshua knows that the two of them are destined to be together, and he’s determined to protect her, whether she likes it or not.

This was a fast-paced story with some excellent, unexpected developments. The dynamic between Joshua and Peyton is intense, as is the chemistry between them. A couple of things that happened at different parts of the book would’ve bothered me if I was Peyton, but hey, it’s fiction. Aside from those things, Joshua is surprisingly sensitive gangster/Dominant. There are excellent secondary characters in this story who add a lot to the overall experience. The next book in the series sounds so extra-unusual, I’m looking forward to whatever this author has for us.

'The Agreement' is the third book in Delta James' scintillating series "Syndicate Masters". If you're not familiar with the series, you're doing yourself a disservice. If you're reading this review, then the quote at the beginning gives the premise of where it all started and you won't want to miss any of it. This time we get to meet Joshua, the kingpin of the Tiamat Syndicate in England. Rich beyond belief, entrepreneur, philanthropist, highly regarded and respected Dom of Baker Street BDSM club, and black lion-shifter. Peyton is a journalist who has been assigned to fluff pieces, mostly weddings and flower shows but has a penchant for finding out the details and solving the kidnap and murder of a Prima Ballerina who happened to be a friend of her grandmother. Everything Peyton has found so far has led her to Joshua Knight and she wants answers but nothing is as easy as her original plan. The twists and turns that led to the ultimate surprise were riveting. The chemistry of a fated mate pair is tantalizing, and the characters are big, bold, and totally relatable. As usual, this one left me wanting more and I can't wait to see what Ms. James brings with 'The Understanding
