Publication date: November 7th 2025
Genres: LGBTQ+, Satire, Speculative Fiction

Matt Daughtry has always felt like he and his parents live in separate worlds—his shaped by the urbane, Northeastern liberal elite, theirs by Southern conservatism, homespun “common sense,” and talk show-fueled conspiracies. His homosexuality remains an open secret, something they sidestep rather than confront, much less accept. When he and his sister return for Christmas, the wrong sibling brings home a boyfriend for the first time.

What starts as a tense but routine holiday gathering takes a surreal turn the next morning. Flights are canceled, pilots and flight attendants mysteriously take time off, and by the following day, an estimated seventy-eight million Americans fail to return to work. Their explanation? They just want to spend more time with their families. Christmas can be every day when you’re with family.

His parents—and millions of Americans—are suffering from a bizarre condition, trapped in an endless holiday loop, determined to celebrate Christmas every day. They make choices that go against their self-interests. Blissfully unbothered by their accumulating debts, economic collapse, or even basic responsibilities, they live in a festive delusion seemingly fueled by an addictive algorithm used by an evangelical shopping app called MerryNet.

At first, Matt sees no reason to get involved. He’s never been able to reach his parents before—why would this be any different? But as the syndrome spreads, paralyzing the country, he stumbles upon evidence linking the outbreak to corporate actors intent on silencing their perceived right-wing enemies. Faced with a choice between complicity and action, Matt realizes that exposing the truth may come at the cost of his career, safety, and sanity. But the country may slide further into a dystopian nightmare if he doesn’t act.

With the help of his boyfriend and sister, Matt must not only uncover the syndrome’s cause and cure but also confront the deeper divisions tearing his family—and the nation—apart.

His father stood at the head of the table, clearing his throat in a way that demanded reverence. “Let’s join hands and pray over the meal,” he said.

Matt hesitated, his fingers brushing Grant’s as they linked. He glanced at his boyfriend, who exuded detached curiosity, like Jane Goodall observing chimpanzees in a mealtime ritual. The faintest twitch of Grant’s lips hinted at a private joke, but he said nothing, playing the part of the respectful outsider with disarming ease.

“Thank you, dear Lord, for delivering this family together tonight,” his father said, his eyes closed. “Even though my children forsake you, please forgive them so that they may join their mother and me in heaven.”

Matt bit down on his lip and squeezed Grant’s hand tighter.

“Amen,” his mother said. “Matt, does your friend eat ham?”

“I do,” Grant said. “Even if I didn’t, I’d make an exception for this. It’s a honey ham?”

“Yes, it’s Matt’s favorite,” she said. “Isn’t it, Matt?”

Matt scowled at his empty plate. “I’m not as hungry as I thought.”

His father’s cheeks flushed. “Your mother spent all day making this meal. Don’t sulk. Eat.”

“I’m not hungry either,” Elise said as she twirled her origami-like napkin on the table.

Matt’s mother sucked in a choppy breath of air and turned her head, blotting her nose with her napkin.

“Kids,” his father said, “this is Christmas. Christmas is for family.”

“I just don’t understand,” his mother said, giving another sniffle.

A hush fell over the table. Silent night, indeed, Matt thought. A music box chimed in the distance under the tree. Matt could feel his pulse thudding in his neck.

Aunt Cathy refolded her napkin and tucked it under her plate. “Welcome to the family, Grant. Matt tells me you’re a psychologist. I suspect you already know we’re crazy.”

“Still a resident, technically,” Grant said. “I’m just happy to be here. It isn’t my place to say.”

“Maybe we do need professional help,” Matt’s mother said behind a smile Matt didn’t trust. “Do you know why my son and his sister hate his parents so much that they’d come here just to starve themselves at our table?”

Matt’s father didn’t look up from his plate. “Judy, let’s leave Matt’s guest alone.”

“No, I want to know,” she said, forgetting to hold her smile.

Grant took a sip of his wine. “It’s really quite simple, Mrs. Daughtry,” he said as if observing an early impressionist work at the art gallery. “Your children love you but feel the transaction is one-sided. Your love for them is perceived as conditional on their support for your values.”

“Excuse me,” Matt’s mother said as indignation dried her tears.

“You’re excused,” Grant said. “I’m a professional. And you did ask.”

“Grant,” Matt said, reaching for Grant’s knee and immediately regretting how his tone sounded like his father’s. His stomach churned as he saw his mother’s hand tremble over her napkin.

“Is this how you speak to your own family?” she shot back.

“Yes. They’ve come to appreciate my honesty.”

“Elise, do you hear this?”

“I don’t know, Mom,” Elise said. “He’s not wrong.”

“Elise!”

“What? We’re all thinking it.”

Matt’s father dropped his fork with a clatter. “If we didn’t love you, why would we invite you here? Wrap all these gifts?”

Elise rose from her chair. “I don’t think it’s faith or love when it just pushes people away while you cling to a piety that makes you think you’re better than anyone who doesn’t watch your news shows, read your websites, vote for your favorite fascists, wear your stupid dresses, or donate to your megachurch!”

His father huffed and stormed out. His mother turned toward the window, biting down on her knuckles. “This isn’t how Christmas should be,” she sobbed. “Christmas is for family.”

“I wouldn’t mind having one of those nutty brownies now,” Grant said.

Two rival interns. One art museum. And a missing art museum exhibit.

Dylan Alexander doesn’t need a boyfriend. Having one will only slow him down.

Freshly graduated from university, Dylan’s arrived in London, England from Vancouver, Canada for a summer internship at the London Art & Design Museum. He’s also looking for strings-free fun and a fresh dating scene. This is Dylan’s dream chance to start his career and land a permanent job in London—or else he must return to Vancouver where museum jobs are rare, and the dating pool is old news. Everything’s going great in his new life—except for one thing. Dylan must put up with rival museum intern William Martin-Greene.

Will is everything Dylan can’t stand: flashy, arrogant, and entitled. Forget that he’s too handsome for his own good and knows it. It’s bad luck that they both started on the same internship program. At least they work safely apart in different departments—until one day, they’re forced to work together when Will unexpectedly joins Dylan’s Curatorial team. So much for the avoidance strategy that had worked so far. Will’s arrival on his team is also not helping his unmistakable attraction. When Dylan and Will end up stranded together while collecting exhibits, with only one bed to share, they can’t deny their chemistry.

With only one permanent job on offer at the end of the summer, the competition is on to be the best intern. They both share the blame when an important design exhibit goes missing and risks the unexpected summer romance between them. Then, everything is on the line—including hearts, careers, and a chance at love.

A rivals-to-lovers, opposites attract, only one bed, and boy-next-door romance!

EXCERPT:

Day 1

Keep going, Dylan. I splash along a London street that must be hundreds of years old. It’s lined with brick buildings, a mirrored office tower reflecting the moody sky, and followed by even more brick buildings. Then, at street level, there’re all the glass-fronted shops. The museum’s got to be close. You’ve gotten halfway around the world, after all.

With the help of printed out maps and free Wi-Fi, of course.

It’s not far now.

And I can’t stop smiling. I can’t believe I’m actually here. Forget the rain.

It’s a soggy, blustery London day, which admittedly does no favors for my leather shoes or my styled hair. Or for making a good impression on the first day of a new job in a country I landed in three days ago. And it’s the first day where jet lag isn’t totally kicking my ass.

I get a little lost on my way from London Bridge station somewhere along the modern gray tiled path leading past the Old London City Hall. The problem being something called Old London City Hall looks very modern and new, with its endless windows and curved oval structure, which is part of what got me confused. Because everything old in London’s supposed to be, well, old. Like really old. And this building is anything but. I squint at the building through the rain at the edge of an equally sleek plaza, dotted with leafy trees boxed in with low hedges, concrete benches, and contemporary art installations, all overlooking the Thames.

Old London City Hall looks like it was built yesterday.

This must be some prank to play on the tourists.

I pull out a slightly crumpled page from my pocket with one hand and hold on to the umbrella with my other hand. I haven’t sorted out my phone yet, and I don’t want to pay roaming charges. My printed-out map reliably shows Potters Field Park beside the Thames and the Old London City Hall plaza. Plus, there’s the iconic Tower Bridge nearby as a key landmark, and an X in blue pen marks the museum to the east. Raindrops splatter the page with dark spots before I hurriedly tuck it away.

I’m back on track.

The museum must be straight ahead, past the park—my destination—down at the end of the road or the block or whatever people call it here. I start walking again with purpose. Like I belong here amid the Londoners who happen to know where they’re going.

At least, I think it’s the museum at the end of the street. I haven’t actually seen it before, except on Google Street View.

Distracted, I end up making an unscheduled detour down a side street to see more of the surrounding area, which has one-way traffic. But there’re more modern buildings again down this way, and I work on figuring out how to loop back on course before I’m late.

Look right, then left. I keep repeating my new mantra when I cross the street, then hurry up another street toward the museum as the weather worsens. Everyone drives on the opposite side of the street from what I’m used to.

I grip my umbrella tight against another gust of wind.

A red sports car screams past as a wind gust turns my umbrella inside out.

Then an icy tidal wave hits me like a slap, and I reel.

“What the fuck—” I yelp, the umbrella useless in my hand.

An airborne puddle soaks me. Right from my head down to my now very ruined—rather than partly ruined—new shoes. Leather never deserves a flood of water, never mind my face.

Water pours off me in sheets. I’m left sopping wet, gasping and spluttering.

Me and my wet rage, dressed in soggy smart casual. My light cotton blazer, perfect for actual summer, turns out to be incredible at soaking up water like a sponge.

I stare after the red car rocketing up the road toward the museum, its taillights a sharp dazzle against the soft gray world even through the rain. My fists tighten while I drip.

Too bad I didn’t pack a towel in my bag, but I didn’t expect impromptu bathing today.

Asshole.

Great story and characters

Nicholas Bella Betrayed
There is so much to this story I’m not sure I know where to begin.
Monty is trying to save his company that has been in the family for generations. His dad has caused it to have more financial problems than Monty can fix. The solutions are not anything Monty wants.
Ren is the spoiled brat that isn’t happy even when he gets what he wants.
Ajax (Milan) and TT play a big part in this story. Ajax’s life has major changes.
Demir, while involved, seems to just be on the outside of major events…more yet to happen.
Vitra and Da Han are major players but then again naturally since they are incharge characters they have to be involved.
There are many more characters and side events going on so keeping track of all the characters and where they fit sometimes got challenging for me but they are all interconnected.
I was enjoying the story and was to the point I was ignoring all around me when it stopped. It didn’t come to an end but rather got to an intense part and stopped. This caused me frustration.
I really enjoyed the story. The characters can get a little overwhelming to keep track of at times but they all fit together.
The pace of the story moved right along.
Since this is an ongoing story I should have expected the stopping but I wish some of the characters would have been more resolved so I didn’t feel so unsettled. This series is really more episodes rather than each couple or event having a resolution while the overall group continues.
Now I have to wait for the next episode.

Caught Up in Chaos!
Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2024
The publisher's description was accurate for this Road to Carnage continuation in that sultry, sexy, HOT men are caught up in intrigues and tangles reaching beyond surface appearance. There's a few Lords of Chaos (LOC) members in prison doing time and maintaining the LOC dominance in order to survive the dangerous environment of prison. The goings on at the prison are just the tip of the complex weave of relationships, obligations, and love interests Nicholas Bella writes in Book 6 of his Road to Carnage series. This is not a standalone book. However, if you're adventurous in the realm of erotic urban fantasy featuring hot men who are arrogantly sexy and demanding you'll want to start with Bella's first book, Outlawed. This series is never boring, never predictable in the usual MM romance genre, and is always interestingly enticingly arousing, dangerous, dark, and potentially violent.
Book 6 sets the reader up for SO many possible conflicts, outcomes and oh my goodness what the heck is going to happen to the men Bella has made me care about!

Come and Get Me: New Haven Series (The Odin Chronicles Book 1)

Noel: I’m finally free and able to patrol my own territory without Marco being by my side. I really appreciated everything he’s taught me, what can I say… that big, brutal bastard grew on me. However, before I can embark on my new life as a General, I have to fulfill a debt my Father owes to the dragon king, Evander. This should be interesting. At least I’m not going alone. Dante, newly-mated to Josef, will be going with me.

Elijah: Today is the day our plan finally comes to fruition. I’m praying that everything falls into place just as we have designed it to. But you never know with these sort of operations. Humans can be as unpredictable as supes. I do know one thing, Deacon better come and get me.

Vex: As a reward for my loyalty and service, my King has given me permission to pick the human I want to have turned into a werewolf. I’ve had my eye on the perfect guy, too. Whether he wants to be a wolf or not doesn’t matter to me. Once it’s done and he’s mine, he’ll learn to heel and obey.

Kendrick: It’s been a long time coming with years of strategic planning, from the night I killed my Alpha to the day I killed the dragon king, making me a ruler in my own league. I’ve had my eye on the Odin Colony for over a decade, but I knew I needed to wait until the right moment came to strike. They should fear me, because when the dust settles and the streets are flowing with blood, I will be standing victorious.

Warning: This series is highly addictive, and fans have complained that it’s all they can think about, oftentimes re-reading each book until their next fix.

Be further warned: This serial contains strong adult content not meant for sensitive eyes as each episode will be filled with dark, twisted, raunchy, and steamy scenes between powerful, sexy men that will either offend you or get ya revved up. This series will not be pulling any punches, and it won’t apologize for hurting your feelings, either. You’ll find no fluff and ruffles here. The vampires are not misunderstood, hopeless romantics looking for love. The werewolves are not cute and cuddly and the dragons aren’t the ones from your childhood. This is NOT a romance.

What an amazing journey into the next chapter of this series!!!
Old characters intermingle with new ones, it feels like coming home for a holiday event. These characters and their world are so well written and developed you can’t help but love their darkness.
This season we get to learn more about the dragons!!! Previous seasons barely touched on the centuries of history of this highly sexual species. Our favorite vampires and wolves are also featured, so don’t fret about not being able to keep up with the packs or Theoden and his children.

FYI in the Audible version: The narration is amazing. Matt Williams really helps you feel as if you are right there!

I can’t wait for the next installment!

When you open a book you want to get pulled in. You get this and more every time you read a Nicholas Bella book. He ups his game every single time. This series starts off where New Haven Series ended. You not only get familiar characters, which by the way was great to see. You also are introduced to new ones. More sexy vampires, dragons and wolfs to love or hate. And to me what brings you in is no matter if you see them as good or bad, he puts you inside their heads to see why. You get so involved with their story, you don't realize that you are even reading a book. You are living their lives.

This series will make your heart race, make you want a cold shower, have you laughing at moments and just want more. Who knew that Supes could be so sexy and kinky? Of course there is violence, cause not everyone gets along. There is greed of wanting more, plans to kill to get back what they feel they lost. The list goes on. They all want to be number 1.

This is a action packed book. You get what you expect and more. The boys are definitely back!!!!

Thoughts:
1.) Not my place to tell an author how to write his story so this is merely my thought. Perhaps each episode of each series should be written as bookends where the Story behind and ends in some fashion instead of carrying over to next series. I only say this from drawn out stories causing fatigue.
2.) Lots of characters in the series. Can too many characters diminish interest in main characters?
3.) Don' get me wrong, the sex scenes are intense, detailed and just plain naughty, but, can too much sex be too much in place of the conflicts, dangers, battles, etc.?

Kingdom of Ara: New Haven Series Book 4

This book picks up where Prince of the City leaves off.

Théoden has his plate full training his newest son, Dante, as well as investigating the death of the vampire in his territory. If that wasn’t enough to keep him busy, Dante, the half vampire, half werewolf hybrid is the fated mate of Josef, the Alpha of the River Rock werewolf pack. With this knowledge, Théoden knows that things are about to get violent, because if he knows anything about wolves… they will stop at nothing to claim their mates.

Noel hasn’t even been a vampire for a full month yet, but now he must fight for his life when the River Rock Alpha wages war or Théoden and his House. He’s never had to fight in a battle of swords, fangs and claws, but he will do whatever it takes to prove to his sire and brothers that he is one of them… and worthy of the House of Théoden.

Josef knew the moment he’d caught Dante’s scent, that the wolf-vampire hybrid was his mate. He’d rather Dante not be bound to Théoden, because he hates vampires and distrusts them, but his mate is a gift and he’ll take him and way he can get him. There’s just one obstacle standing in his way, but after waiting eight centuries for Dante, he’s not going to let Théoden stop him for claiming what belongs to him.

Deacon is still learning what it means to be mated and he and Elijah are navigating their relationship, discovering things about themselves that they never knew. For instance, Elijah is a submissive and Deacon enjoys putting him on his knees. Of course, bonding with Elijah isn’t the only thing Deacon has to be concerned about. He soon discovers that all of his well-laid plans may unravel. The half-breed wolf he turned over to Théoden as part of their deal is his rival’s mate. If he’s exposed for the crimes he’d committed, if could mean war. Lucky for him, Elijah has a plan.

This was a great read a lot happened in this installment of this series there was quite a lot of character development too . With Noel, Romeo and Dante finally showing what it means to be a child of the House of Theoden I also like the fact that Romeo and Dante finally got to clear the air with each other . Than we lost Rhyu when stupid Ass Joseph and wolf Alpha attacked the House of Theoden in order to take Dante who turned out to be his mate which I still don't know how to feel about that one . Personally I thought it was a stupid excuse to attack someone without even trying the diplomatic way and talking to Theoden about it and maybe they could have come to some sort of agreement compromise . I legit cried over Rhyu but dang did he get a amazing send off and Deacan I legit don't care about him or his pack why are they even in this series . And Deacan has his own book too please and know there's a new enemy to boot man anywho Deacan needs to pay everyone else has lost something precious it's time for him to loose something too I want the truth to come out .

Wow! Blood, Werewolf attacks, death, mates found, treachery…and lots of steamy sex scenes…dragons and vampires oh my!
This is not your sparkly vampires or Native American wolf shifters by any stretch of the imagination!
Theoden and his boys are back for another installment of wild crazy and deadly tale. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry and you’ll get turned on…could you expect anything else in New Haven?

As always this isn’t a standalone but a series that needs to be read or listened to in order! Don’t skip this installment as many major plots begin to converge.
Amazing characters that feel so real you’ll crave more. A world built around supernatural beings in charge will seem very probable.

The audible version is supremely well done. From raspy voices to many different accents which hundreds of years old supernaturals would use will draw you into the story and plots and once the narrator has you in his clutches you will beg him not to let you go! Definitely not to be listened to while in public (it’s that dark, sinister and sexy)!

The story is good, and although there are a million reasons couched in my own experiences (seriously, as a warning for other rape survivors, these books are TRIGGERY - proceed at your own risk), I can't stop reading. I need to know what happens next. That's the mark of a good writer, by the way. I am compelled to get to the next arc in the story just to know what goes down (other than every single character, that is).

There is more sex than story here. Granted, the sex is an integral part of the world, but still. FAR more sex than story, most of it kinky, much of it non-consensual, and all of it hot, if I'm being honest. If you're looking for something plot-driven with complicated characters, keep looking. If you want raw, sexy entertainment, this is for you.

There is some character development, but mostly it's tied to how far they're willing to descend into submission. The Doms tend to be very one-dimensional, and though they give lip service to caring about their subs, I just don't buy it.

I only wish the thing had been edited better. There's an editor credited, but honestly, there are so many spelling and grammar errors, it makes me wonder sometimes if the first draft was released by mistake. The errors are especially egregious during the sex scenes.
