My name is Hattie Holiday, and I can read minds. Sure people have all kinds of rogue thoughts running around up there, but I’m far more interested in using my special abilities to talk to my cat, Cricket, and our new friend Rookie, an adorable Golden Retriever that happens to belong to a certain ornery detective.

Spooky season is here and the entire town is headed to Moonstone Manor for cheap thrills and chills. On orders from my boss at the country club, I head over myself to see if I can snag any haunted ideas for our own upcoming All Hallows’ Eve Gala. But just my luck, instead of finding some scary inspiration, I stumble upon a body.

Not only that, but the ongoing murder investigation of the woman who once held my position at the country club starts to heat up as the suspect list expands.

But someone out there doesn’t appreciate my snooping. In fact, they make it clear they’d rather see me dead. Here’s hoping I live long enough to go trick-or-treating or in the least eat a candy bar or two.

Recently, I’ve lost my job at the public library but lucky for me a position opened up at the local country club, as an events coordinator, and I happened to secure the position. And since my love for books follows me wherever I go, not only will I have extravagant affairs to supervise but I’ve already snagged a few people to start a book club with.

Sure the country club is pretentious and smells of old and new money, but I knew that going in. What I didn’t bargain for was finding a body right out of the gate. And that book club I’ve just started up? Let’s just say the book club is out and the murder club is in. What I didn’t see coming were the secrets, and the deception, and the killer twist of a lifetime.
