Grammar check – on the complicated rules dictating punctuation for book titles and what do you do about that comma after the title?

I tend to use the quotes around a title.

What’s your writing style for book titles and authors? Do you put them in quotes? Do you use italics? Do you underline them or did that go the way of the typewriter? And what about the comma after the title? Is that required or is that also a style call?

Believe it or not, this is something I spend a lot of time thinking about! Being a librarian and a book blogger, I see all of the above (well maybe less of book underlining). So what’s the correct way to write about book titles and their authors?

Personally, I prefer italics for the title and no comma after it. For me, less is more. But on some systems at work, for example, the italics function doesn’t exist. Same for social media. So what to do? I just list the title, no quotes and definitely no comma! I don’t know if…
