The 4th book in the ‘Sinners and Saints’ series by Piper Stone is “Beautiful Obsession”. Although it’s part of a series, this dark mafia romance can be read and enjoyed as a standalone story.

Betrayal is not something the Kozlov Bratva takes lightly. When the offender is a prosecutor, his legal skills don’t matter at all when his punishment is being decided. Neither does the fact that the prosecutor in question is about to be married – to another prosecutor, no less. Alexei Kozlov deals with the bridegroom, and then turns his attention to the bride.

Stephanie Morgan reacts in an unexpected way to the failure of her fiance to show up at their wedding. Without ever sharing his name with her, Alexie effectively seduces her with has words, dancing, and expensive liquor. Stephanie’s friends encourage her to have a wild night with a hot guy. So when Alexei is in her hotel room before she even gets there, Stephanie believes those same friends arranged it.

One hot night turns into much more, and insta-lust rapidly evolves into something neither Alexei nor Stephanie have ever experienced before. The story involves politics among criminals, criminal politicians, loyalty, betrayal, and plenty of drama. There are also lots of seriously steamy scenes. If you’ve read other books in this series, you’ll recognize some of the secondary characters. The ending wraps up the story well, and points the way to another book to come.
