Where were you when you heard the news?

I was startled this morning when I noticed the date, September 11, or 9/11. Always stated that way, never 911 (emergency). Then I started thinking about my memories of that day.

I was at work that morning. We had just came out of our weekly meeting when we noticed that everyone in the area we were located in was gathered around one of the few terminals with internet access. I walked by the terminal on my way to my desk when my attention was grabbed by what I was seeing.

I’ll warn you now, this video shows the first plane striking the Twin Towers. I’d never seen that before.

It took me hours to stop crying. I just couldn’t wrap my head around the thought that someone deliberately flew those planes into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. It’s not something you easily forget.

Maybe it’s something we shouldn’t forget.
