What’s the story behind your nickname?
So, almost 20 years ago, my father was in bad health and living in Florida with no family close by. When he had to stay in a nursing home simply because he had no one to help him for a while, I said enough is enough!
My husband and I pulled up stakes and we moved to Florida to live nearby. Hubby’s health was starting to deteriorate and he couldn’t get work. A visit to the VA hospital yielded some information we didn’t know. Because of his multiple conditions, he was eligible for a VA disability pension. The only catch was that I couldn’t be working.
The pension amount was enough to cover our expenses. So I reluctantly agreed to retire, even though I didn’t want to! When I needed a forum nickname, it seemed appropriate to use “Reluctant Retiree!”
