This was a small town shifter romance.

Holy Smokes this series is getting close to the climax and I can't wait for the next book. This series is like the best action/adventure romance movie I have ever seen. Highly recommend! Must read!

Amelia Lockhart is a bush pilot. She owns Midnight Sun Flight Service in Washington state. Her assistant Phoebe runs the office for her.

Carson Payne is a snow leopard and a geneticist for a company (Northern Lights Genome Project) specializing in genome research in Reykjavik, Iceland. He has a twin brother Mason who lives in a cabin in remote Alaska.

Carson overheard a disturbing conversation between two other scientists about a project in Seattle. He decides to go to his brother who has had grave concerns about NLGP. When he is enroute to Mason's cabin he heard a small engine plane go down and goes to investigate. He manages to rescue the pilot, Amelia. Amelia gets very sick and is dying so Carson bites her to give her the Gift to save her life. Amelia was delivering a top secret package for the Phoenix Group and while she is recovering Carson dives into the lake to retrieve it. While he is gone Mason returns to the cabin and meets Amelia. After Carson returns they head to one of the shifter communities but get attacked on the way and Mason is killed. Carson and Amelia join the resistance movement and he is granted the lighthouse area which they call Polaris. The resistance group sets up a structured tribunal and call it Fire Star Alliance. Colby works with the Shadow Sisters to get Carson's fellow shifter researchers out of Iceland and bring them to Alaska.

Another one sitting read for me. Carson and Amelia initially seemed liked an unlikely pair. Once they connected, the chemistry flared up into flame.

I liked that Amelia was so self sufficient and snarky. She and Mason's witty banter was enjoyable.

In this book, I really felt the battle with the Shadow League starting to come to a head. The excitement was building. I was glad some of the Otter Creek residents and Phantom Fire crew were included.

I thought the ending was stupendous! I was thrilled and looking forward to the impending battle.
