He saved my life. Then he claimed me as his.
In my late-night hunt for the perfect pastry, I never expected to be the victim of a brutal attack… or for a brooding, blue-eyed stranger to become my savior, tending to my wounds while easing my fears. The electricity exploded between us, turning into a night of incredible passion.
Only later did I learn that Valentin Vincheti is the heir to the New York Italian mafia empire.
Then he came to take me, and this time he wasn’t gentle. I shouldn’t have surrendered, but with each savage kiss and stinging stroke of his belt his beautiful seduction became more difficult to resist. But when one of his enemies sets his sights on me, will my secrets put our lives at risk?

“Beautiful Seduction” is the third ‘Sinners and Saints’ book by Piper Stone. You need not have read the previous books in order to enjoy this one. If you have, however, you may remember Valentin, who is now the lead male character in this story.
Valentin is the head his family, and of the mafia it runs. He’s brutal and unforgiving. Just before closing one night, outside the restaurant/bakery his family owns, he steps in and saves a beautiful young woman who’s being assaulted. Cassidy captures more than just his attention, even though Valentin chalks it up to just lust. Cassidy is in town for a family party and just wants to get some special bakery treats for her mother. She doesn’t expect to be attacked, or to be rescued by a handsome Italian man who completely overwhelms her senses. She feels the same powerful attraction to Valentin as he feels towards her, and just like him, she decides it’s merely lust. As the story progresses, with all its twists and turns, it becomes apparent that they are both in denial of a connection far more significant than either is prepared to acknowledge. Their physical interactions are intense, and you should take the content warning seriously.
There are some surprises in this story, one of which truly shocked me. Valentin is a cold man, capable of violence. After all, how else could he control and operate the family mafia? But we also get to see his affection for family members, and the different qualities his connection with Cassidy elicits from him. Cassidy is a strong and capable woman, with secrets of her own. She makes her own decisions and isn’t easily intimidated by anyone or anything. These two have a rough road to travel to get to their ‘happily ever after’ and need nerves of steel. There are kidnappings and assassins, loyalty and betrayals, alliances and double-crosses, and all manner of intrigue. I thought the ending was strong and I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I already was infatuated with Valentin, Giada’s oldest and favorite brother, from reading about him in Beautiful Sinner. Despite being heir to the Vincheti throne he clearly loved his sister and I sensed that deep inside was a man with the capacity to love deeply and passionately. This proves prophetic when he instantly falls in love with Cassidy the first time he sees her at La Travitorria. Of course he spends the next fourteen chapters fighting his feelings and sometimes I got a bit annoyed with him about it. Too often he was quick to assume the worst of her, pushing her away or attacking her with his accusations and threats. I kept having to remind myself he was just afraid of his emotions and trying to protect a heart he didn’t want to admit he’d already given her. Being a violent mafia boss, he didn’t handle any of it very well. Still, every time he called her sweet angel I sighed. The reality was, he never stood a chance.
Cassidy was a surprising strong, practical woman who also didn’t want to feel anything for the mafia monster she knew he was. But just like Valentin, she also fell instantly in love and fought their bond every step of the way. She had so many secrets and even though she was so tough and capable, inside she was vulnerable and needed a strong man to believe and depend on.
I loved Valentin and Cassidy together. They were so perfect for each other. I cried for them several times and was thrilled when they finally accepted their love for each other.
The book started a little slow with more thoughts and internal monologues than I thought it should have. It took a little while to really get going. It has a real plot, though, with lots of action and unexpected twists. Once it got into the story it pretty much ran with it almost all the way until the end. There were some really great supporting characters but I was slightly disappointed we saw very little of Giada and Sevastian. I really loved them and had been looking forward to seeing them again. Still, it made sense as they weren’t really needed for the plot and with so many others in the story it would have probably detracted from the focus on Valentin and Cassidy.
Of all the Vinchetis I most want Niccolo’s story next. “My brother handled his love life the way he handled most business operations, taking what he wanted then tossing away the garbage.” This is a man who needs a real lesson about love, someone to humble him and wake up his heart. I’m sure Piper has something interesting in store for him. And with two other Vincheti brothers as well as additional Kozlovs, I suspect there will be plenty of more books in this series to come.
